Use of POTD on your user page

[edit]

Hi Hahc21, you are displaying the POTD on your user page using some custom HTML code. Unfortunately, your code prevents the viewer from clicking the image and getting to the image description page. The use of many images on Commons requires attribution and this is usually given by linking the image to its description page and displaying the author's attribution there. Since your user page currently prevents users from clicking the image and reaching the description page, you are not giving the image author any attribution. So your current use of the image is a copyright violation. Would you please fix this by either linking the image to its description page or display the attribution for the image somewhere else on your user page? By the way, the same applies to your en-wiki user page. Thanks and best regards, -- ChrisiPK (Talk|Contribs) 12:51, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to fix this here. My en-wiki userpage has an infobox that lets the users go to the current PODT and look at the attribution, but I'll see what I can do. Thanks. — ΛΧΣ21 14:20, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I found two files that I think are copyvio but I don't know how to erase them. Maybe you can help me. File:FelipeNasr.jpg and File:Fn7.jpg. Minerva97 (talk) 14:46, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr-licenses not revokable

[edit]

Hi Hahc21, as others may have told you already, CC-licenses are not revokable. Therefore, edits as this one of yours, are not appropriate — provided you don't have solid evidence that the original Flickr-review was faked or bogus. In such cases we add {{Flickr-change-of-license}}--Túrelio (talk) 19:46, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. I realized that after I did those edits. My apologies. — ΛΧΣ21 19:51, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, Dear Patroller!

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Razr Nation,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage, my talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

File: Sypheotides indicus.jpg

[edit]

Hi Hahc21, you replaced today the cropped picture of Sypheotides indicus.jpg file. I understand that original file is bigger, but can I add the cropped file again as a second version? The original picture is to big – I'm going to add this file as a miniature in polish article about Sypheotides indicus and at small size of the original picture the most important object – a lesser florican will be not visible.

Netzach (talk) 20:07, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Id recommend you to upload the cropped version as a separate file instead of replacing the original. I.could do this for you when I get home. — ΛΧΣ21 21:58, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, dear translation administrator!

[edit]

Hi Hahc21, thanks for your application for translation administrator. Your request was closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of translation administrators.

Please take a moment to read our help page before marking pages for translation.

For existing translations

Make sure to move all existing translations to language subpages (/fr, /de, etc.). Pages with existing translations need to have them manually copied to the new system or some process to be created for it. Translation administrators must ensure existing translations don't get lost or hidden, or translators will be unhappy and we'll lose them.

crop w/ no attribution

[edit]

You've sourced your crop of File:Panorama of North Avenue Beach edit0.jpg simply as "own work", but the original (File:Panorama of North Avenue Beach.jpg) is by Dave Herholz and the license requires attribution of derivatives. Rosario Berganza 07:46, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah that was a awhile ago before I knew how to properly do stuff around here. Thanks. — ΛΧΣ21 06:37, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
File:A Costa Concordia kiemelése.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Important message for file movers

[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
