Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 12:45, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

- Hi,
- I just want to tell you that the file: Iwan fals.jpg comes from www.kapanlagi.com (this is Indonesian site). As long as I know, this site has permitted the use of images for all articles in wikipedia. So, I believe this image is not a copyright violation.
- Thanks.PL08 Elok (talk) 19:25, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- A permission for reuse in Wikipedia is not enough for Wikimedia Commons. See COM:PS#Must be freely licensed or public domain. Files must have the permission that anyone, worldwide, can reuse the file anywhere, anytime for any purpose including educational purposes as well as money making purposes. Thats what free means. Maybe such a permission is enough for some Wikipedia projects to use the file under non-free fair use exemptions, but not here, here we only have free content.
- A second concern is that you uploaded this files with the information that you created the photo yourself.

Hi PL08 Elok, maybe you overread this notice at the source you provided for the above image: Hak Cipta dilindungi undang-undang. Dilarang menggunakan foto dalam bentuk apapun tanpa ijin tertulis dari KapanLagi.com – if Google translator does a correct job, this text means that it's strongly forbidden to use this file without permission. Please understand that we cannot accept this kind of images. Maybe File:Licensing tutorial en.svg helps you for a clearer overview what is possible at Commons and what not. Thanks for understanding. --Elya (talk) 20:35, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
