Reply to High Contrast[edit]
I'm afraid I am not proficient in the Wikimedia process, but I would appreciate some help, as noted in this email sent to High Contrast via the WM system on April 22...
Thank you very much for your emails advising me of a problem with the uploading of these two images to Wikimedia Commons:
File:No Gun Ri survivors read petition-1999-b.jpg
File:No Gun Ri scene in film "A Little Pond".jpg
These are two of four images that I uploaded on Saturday. Your emails said they lacked source and author. However, the summary on each does identify source and author (in the first instance, the No Gun Ri International Peace Foundation is both source and author, in the second it's Nogunri Production). And so it is not clear to me what is missing. If it's expected to provide a URL to the source, there is none.
There is a related issue, meanwhile, I hope you can help with. I have copyright permission letters for all four images (all come from the same two sources mentioned), using the template form recommended by Wikimedia Commons. I understand that I am supposed to forward these by email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. I can do that. However, I also understand that I am supposed to ``tag each image in some way to signify that its permissions status is being reviewed, after which Wikimedia will make the upload permanent.
I don't know how to ``tag these four items. Can you help?
Many thanks. Best regards, Charles Hanley

- Hello! The source information that you have stated is insufficient. Commons is free media project and as such we need detailed source, author and/or permission information. "No Gun Ri International Peace Foundation" is no valid source - (do not take it personally) anybody could say that. But if you have the permission to distribute those files under a free licence, please forward the (written) permission to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. If you have done that it takes some time until they were reviewed. If there should be any problem left, please write me. Regards, High Contrast (talk) 14:33, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks very much. I do, indeed, have very detailed permissions from the two organizations for free license on the images, and will email those immediately to permissions-commons. But is that all that needs to be done? Aren't the two images you found still flagged for deletion? Must something be done to protect them? Also, I have read that I must somehow "tag" the images to indicate permission is being reviewed. Is that correct? Thanks again!

- If images get deleted on any Wikimedia projects, it is not gone but just invisible for non-administrators. As a consequence deleted images can be restored at any time without any complications by an admin. So, lets wait what will be done by one of our OTRS-members. You do not have to do anything more. If any other problems occure, you can contact me on my talk page. Greetings, High Contrast (talk) 11:47, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
