Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
  • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
  • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
  • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
  • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.

Hallo Bregant1, da du dich auf deiner umseitigen Benutzerseite über Löschungen beschwert hast, hier die nötige Hintergrundinformation dazu, die du tatsächlich vorher hättest erhalten sollen:

  • File:Katharina5.jpg wurde gelöscht, weil "Author/copyright holder unknown. See ticket 2013021110006687." Anscheinend hattest du oder jemand etwas an OTRS gemailt, was vom bearbeitenden OTRS-Mitarbeiter aber als unzureichend bewertet wurde.
  • File:GM Eugen Bregant 2.JPG wurde gelöscht, weil "missing permission as of 19 March 2013". Du hattest dich als Autor benannt, gleichzeitig aber "PD-old-100" als Lizenz/Genehmigung angegeben, was ja nicht ganz zusammenpasst. Da es sich um eine Kopie von de:Datei:GMEugen1.jpg, die ja ein OTRS-Genehmigung trägt, lag es vermutlich nur an den inkonsistenten Angaben.
  • File:GMCamillo1.jpg wurde gelöscht, weil "No permission. Author unsure/unknown, date 1914 or later. See ticket:2012030410007458." Ursache waren vermutlich die ebenfalls inkonsistenten Angaben: 1914 erstellt, aber du als Autor und eigenes Werk
  • File:GMCamillo3.JPG wurde gelöscht, weil "no license". Hierzu hattest du einen Hinweis (siehe 1. Meldung oben) erhalten, aber nicht reagiert. Du hattest vergessen einen Lizenzbaustein einzusetzen. Zudem waren die Angaben inkonsistent: 2011 erstellt (obwohl altes Foto), Archiv Ing. Georg Bregant als Autor. Allerdings ist es sowieso identisch mit File:GMCamillo4.JPG.

Sorry für die erst nachträglich gelieferte Information. Vermutlich wäre bei den meisten der Dateien eine Wiederherstellung möglich, sofern du konsistentere Angaben dazu machen kannst. --Túrelio (talk) 08:54, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

GM Eugen Bregant 1.jpg Für dieses Bild müsste man eine eigene Kategorie machen nämlich Eugen Bregant. Weiters gehören die Bilder Eugen und Caillo bregant in eine Kategori: Militärpersonen, K.K. Offiziere bzw. Generale der Österr. 1. Republik --Bregant1 (talk) 10:47, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Du gehst auf die Seite der jeweiligen Datei, z.B. File:GM Eugen Bregant 1.jpg und klickst dann ganz unten in der Zeile "Kategorien", sofern sie bei dir angezeigt wird, auf das letzte (+) und gibst den Kategorienamen an, sofern du ihn schon kennst. Alternativ kannst du auf "Bearbeiten" klicken und dann manuell folgendes [[Category:NameDerKategorie]] ganz unten einfügen und dann speichern. --Túrelio (talk) 11:03, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Datum 28. März 2013, 08:45:55 dies ist das Hochlade datum, oder muss ich hier eingeben, wann die Laudatio geschrieben wurde? Quelle Eigenes Werk die Quelle ist das Pfarrblatt/Pfarramt Herz Jesu oder ich selbst, weil ich es ausgeforscht habe Urheber Georg Bregant der Urheber ist der Verfasser bzw. beim Bild ich selbst ????

Keine Ahnung worauf sich das o.g. Datum bezieht. In das Dateibeschreibungsfeld Date= gehört das Datum des Erstellung eines Originalfotos bzw. wenn es sich nur um eine Reproduktion handelt (wie beim Pfarrblatt) des ursprünglichen Erscheinungsjahr. Das Hochladedatum ist relativ uninteressant und steht ohnehin automatisch im Hochladelogbuch. Quelle ist hier das Pfarrblatt. Urheber sind der Autor des Artikels und der Fotograf des Fotos. Durch deine Reproduktion hast du keinerlei Urheberrecht daran erworben. Diese Datei wird nur bleiben können, wenn du die Genehmigung sowohl des Artikelautors als auch des Fotografen beibringen kannst. Bilder um 90 Grad drehen[edit]

Ich habe einige Aufnahmen von Grabmählern von Historischen Personen auf dem Friedhof Graz St.Leonhard gemacht. Diese wurden von mir gedreht (MS Picture Manager). Nach dem Hochladen waren sie aber wieder "Quer" dargestellt. Kann mir jemand helfen. Die Bilder drehen oder .............???? --Hamilkar1893 (talk) 07:43, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
