In the legend of image NEMA_simplified_pins.svg it says plug is mirror image. This is mostly true but not always. For instance the 5-20 receptacle accepts either a 5-15 plug with a straight vertical neutral blade or a 5-20 plug with a straight horizontal neutral blade but there is no plug with a T shaped neutral blade matching the receptacle's neutral opening. Maybe change it to plug is generally the mirror image. --108.162.178.172 18:48, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In your NEMA_simplified_pins.svg the 10-30 and 10-50 receptacles should be in the 120/240VAC category as the 10 series provides 120V between the neutral and either of the hot connections, from the 240V across the hot connections.

Hi, I have some suggestions for your NEMA_simplified_pins.svg for the common usages. The 14-50 and 14-60 are also widely used by Recreational Vehicles (RV's). The 10-30 is in very old installations for clothes dryers. The 6-15 is used for (uncommon in the US) 240v window air conditioners. I have a possible new .svg file to offer.

Good suggestions, thank you! I also added the common use of NEMA 14-50 for electric vehicles (EVs). I didn't add the note about the old use of 10-30 for dryers since the diagram is already too busy, but you might add a note in the NEMA wikipedia page. Hey there, just a friendly heads up that it appears you introduced an error into the latest revision of this SVG: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:NEMA_simplified_pins.svg Appreciate the reorientation, and I'm not an expert at SVG but know that it's not rending properly using Google Chrome on MS Windows 10. Thanks for your contributions. -matt 06:11, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Fixed April 20 2020 by uploading a "Plain SVG", thank you!

Hello, Olawlor!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
