Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page, write this: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], it makes this: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper
Made a mistake?
  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|Correct name}}
  • For more information read the full Deletion guidelines

Hi - I was browsing through new articles when I came across this one yesterday. The content of the article it is not in practice what Commons content is about. Commons does not act as a "mirror" for Wikipedia for example where the article seems very appropriate. Commons is intended as a repository of media to be used in other Wikimedia projects so that photographs for example are available in gallery form for use elsewhere. Could you take a look at Commons:FAQ as this may help you to understand what is needed. You may also find looking at other pages in Category:Historians from Germany helps too. Could you please amend the page accordingly by turning it into a gallery - many thanks. If you require help please ask (you can post here or on my talk page) --Herby talk thyme 08:33, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem - let me know if I can help - thanks --Herby talk thyme 14:48, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Scott (?) - the quick answer is I haven't got a quick answer! I'm actually offline for a while now but in terms of "moving" pics have you looked at Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons as that would seem to cover it. I'll get back to you on the page in due course - regards --Herby talk thyme 16:04, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's w:wikipedia:moving images to the Commons, actually. This link will work. =) — coelacan09:41, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Scott - the revised version looks great to me. I certainly don't blame you for any confusion about the normal form of pages here - I myself am going mostly by what I've observed; the written guidelines are sometimes a bit sparse or scattered. --Davepape 23:07, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Scott - comes under the heading of nothing else to say I think! Here and on the admin board all seem happy - good work and I hope we did not put you to too much trouble. Thanks and regards --Herby talk thyme 08:27, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Scott - I really think that you have done a fine job with this gallery. Here's hoping that it will be a great resource for folk for many years. Again I hope we did not put you to too much trouble but the result looks very good, regards --Herby talk thyme 10:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree with Herby. It looks brilliant. — coelacan21:30, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File:Robert_Scott_Kellner_in_1960.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This is a photograph of me taken at my request with my own camera by a passer by in 1960. The photo is owned by me and was uploaded by me. The photograph appears in the Canadian movie about Friedrich Kellner. Please let me know if I need to upload it in a different way. Thank you --Rskellner (talk) 13:06, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Teofilo (talk) 06:58, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This photograph was taken by me with my own camera on "automatic," and it was uploaded by me. This relates to Friedrich Kellner and my narration in the Canadian movie, "My Opposition: The Diaries of Friedrich Kellner," which is an article on English Wikipedia. Please tell me what I need to do to reload the image in an acceptable way. Thank you--Rskellner (talk) 13:08, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This stone sculpture was sculpted by me, and the photograph was taken by me, which is stated in the FILE HISTORY section of the file under "Comments": "Limestone sculptures of Friedrich and Pauline Kellner, sculpted by Robert Scott Kellner. Author: Robert Scott Kellner". Please tell me if this is sufficient. Thank you --Rskellner (talk) 13:21, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Deletion Requests listed above[edit]

I responded on each of the individual files to the deletion requests listed above for the four photographs in the Kellner gallery, and I hope User Teofilo will find the comments acceptable, and that he will be able to remove the deletion requests. --Rskellner (talk) 13:04, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All of the files were kept[edit]

The files were not deleted. They were all found to be in keeping with Wikipedia regulations. --Rskellner (talk) 06:14, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
