Important proposal

I wrote a proposal for equalizing the different picture formats on FPC Please have a look. Best regards --Richard Bartz (talk) 20:31, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr review request

Closed as successful, and I've added your name to the list of reviewers. Congrats. See COM:FLICKR and COM:L for info about flickr image licenses, and Category:Flickr images needing human review (a subcategory of Category:Flickr review needed) for the main backlog. An optional userbox exists at {{User reviewer}} or {{User trusted}}, and a script to aid reviewing can be found at importScript('User:Patstuart/Flickrreview.js');. Good luck and thanks for your work on Commons. PeterSymonds (talk) 08:37, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks! :) I'll get started later tonight. Regards, –Juliancolton | Talk 21:07, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't

The recent ones are too big and they won't upload to Wikimedia. I left it for 1/2 an hour and it still wasn't uploading the largest version. If people want the largest version they have to go to Flickr. Chubbennaitor (talk) 08:06, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it has to be done per COM:FLICKR#Uploading_images. –Juliancolton | Talk 15:42, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me but I'm not speaking English, I use a translator. I would think if it is possible that an article about the Tenerife Auditorium, because Wikipedia does not understand English, I give you here the references page in Spanish: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auditorio_de_Tenerife

Hi. Each project has its own purpose, and Commons is mostly for images. We do allow a little bit of text, but if you have lots of information, Wikipedia is the best place to go. –Juliancolton | Talk 16:42, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades...

Juliancolton, congratulations! You now have administrator rights on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and its subpages), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care. Have a look at the list of Gadgets (on the bottom there are the ones specifically for admins – however, for example the UserMessages are very helpful too).

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.libera.chat. There is also a channel for Commons admins, which may be useful for more sensitive topics, or coordination among administrators: #wikimedia-commons-admin webchat.

You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading. You can find the admin backlog overview at COM:AB.

Please also check or add your entry to the List of administrators and the related lists by language and date it references.

Congratulations. Please don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it. ++Lar: t/c 05:05, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{delf}}

Im writing you, because im very unhappy with your removal of the deletion request on File:Drug eruptions2.jpg. I nominated the file for deletion to get at least one more educative comment on it to show the uplaoder, that this kind of uploads are inapropriate in an educational project. The file is only a duplicate of another file with a black bar shown on the depiceted face, it was uploaded to illustrate "Hitler attending a drug party" on w:es:Usuario:Lagurion. Speedy delete the file would have cause an (more) unhappy and unconvincible uploader, but after the naive "keep" comment of one user and your keep decision I wish I had speedydeleted it :( --Martin H. (talk) 08:09, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The user who made that comment is a medical doctor in real life, so I'm inclined to trust his opinion in these cases. But thanks for the suggestion; I'll keep that in mind. Regards, –Juliancolton | Talk 15:13, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Cordially: its nothing about the factual apperance or medical value. Please compare File:Drug eruptions2.jpg with the source File:Drug eruptions.jpg! And please read the uploaders statement directly related to this image. And then decide. --Martin H. (talk) 12:33, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plastic surgery

Yesterday I posted on this on User:MichaelMaggs's talk page but even though he is stated to be back I don't see any action from him. Perhaps you would assist.

I happened across the images of User talk:Bhalberg all of which look like copyvios per the links on each file page, and I have nominated them for that problem, but I also followed on to the uploads of User:FacialSurgery which all, except the Cessna image, look like advertising from the source links which is a plastic surgery practice of an identical name as the uploader. How best do I deal with these all images, or can you do it for me? Ww2censor (talk) 23:30, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would probably be best to let the DRs run their course for now. –Juliancolton | Talk 23:56, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But I have seen deletion nominations take up to 4 months to be dealt with and, as yet, I have not nominated any of the uploads of User:FacialSurgery. Thanks

User:Unusualboi90

A user on the English Wikipedia brought the pictures uploaded by this user User:Unusualboi90 to my attention. Some of them are obvious copyvios, and the others are suspect as well. Furthermore, there is a suspicion aired that he may be the same as User:NepaliBoy7[1]. I haven't looked into this accusation yet. As an admin on Commons, could you take the necessary actions wrt the pictures? 212.123.0.8 13:23, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I came across this deletion http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Madras_Crocodile_Bank_Trust.JPG Actually that is a signboard and it is in a public place and so it would not have been a copyright infringement under the Indian Copyright Act, [2] (Assuming that the author him/herself uploaded it to commons and released it) Shyamal (talk) 03:56, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr review problems

You probably don't know me unlike Bidgee, Kanonkas, Tryphon or Lupo but I see that you sometimes do some flickr reviews. This is just a note it seems the flickr review bot is down. It has not marked images for 2 full days now and the backlog is more than 100 photos sadly. If you wish, you may wish to mark a few images. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:24, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This image

Was there a reason why you did not pass this photo:

Was it because you had uploaded the highest resolution image available? I thought that only the original uploader could not mark his/her images and since you weren't the original uploader, you could pass it. Maybe I am wrong though. Just curious, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:56, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request for help in special restoration project

Hello,

Recently, Wikimedia Sverige was able to get a donation from an archive with some very early photographies, see Regionarkivet. Together with Regionarkivet, we are talking about producing a book with the photographs for the Gothenburg Book Fair, which is in a month or so. The first versions I uploaded were watermarked since Regionarkivet thought that they didn't have any versions without watermarks, but we stumbled upon versions without, and I will upload them as soon as I get them. Anyway, the photographs need a bit of restoration and I was wondering if you could lend a hand as I am not very good at restoring pictures. Should you help, it will of course be noted in the book (which hopefully would be sold internationally). If you can help, please drop me an email to: lennart@wikimedia.se. Thanks in advance. Best wishes, Hannibal (talk) 09:02, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a quick reorganisation. The images can now be found at Category:Images from Regionarkivet and the info at Commons:Regionarkivet. /Lokal_Profil 15:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr bot problems

Just to let you know that the review bot seems to be having problems marking images right now. It marks maybe 5-10+ images and then stops and breaks down at its periodic intervals. See this Hopefully, you can mark some of the backlog of images needing review. I have marked many but I have to sign off soon in Canada. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 06:31, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Comment: Thanks for marking a few images. Sadly, the bot is still behaving erratically and the backlog keeps growing. I left a message on Admin noticeboards. Its unbelievable only Bryan can fix the problem. I mark maybe 20-25 images but I have other things to do too. With kind Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 04:09, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've lenthened the block to User talk:210.11.188.19 to 1 year. Reasons: I note they've previously had a shorter block, and a "death threat", even if "joking" is not something to be taken lightly. Same ip had been a long term problem on en:Wikipedia, eventually earning them an indef block. See also discussion at Wikipedia:Abuse reports/Melbourne High School.
