Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open![edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2015 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Anik Sarker,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in the Bangladesh - Thank You![edit]

Hi there! Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in the Bangladesh. We're excited and thankful that we have thousands of photos from all over the country! You and others have collectively uploaded 7,115 photos so far, all of which are viewable at Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in Bangladesh.

Uploading your photos of monuments isn't the only way to contribute, however. If you're interested, there are auxiliary ways to contribute - which include improving Wikipedia's coverage of historic and cultural sites of Bangladesh, as well as finding existing free photos that can be shared on the Commons. While these contributions don't count towards the contest, we are still keeping track of them and they are great ways to contribute to the spirit of the project. If you are interesting in contributing to Wikipedia, Wikipedia tutorial is also great place to start.

বিশ্বের সর্ববৃহৎ ছবি প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশ নিন[edit]

উইকিমিডিয়া বাংলাদেশ-এর আয়োজনে দেশের প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থাপনার ছবি নিয়ে বাংলাদেশে চতুর্থবারেরমত চলছে বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে বড় ছবি প্রতিযোগিতা উইকি লাভস মনুমেন্টস ২০১৯। ১ সেপ্টেম্বর থেকে শুরু হওয়া মাসব্যাপী স্থায়ী প্রতিযোগিতাটি ৩০ সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত চলবে। প্রতিযোগিতা পাতায় দেয়া বাংলাদেশের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থাপনার তালিকা থেকে যেকোন সময় তোলা যেকোন স্থাপনার ছবি যত খুশি আপলোড করা যাবে। বিজয়ীদের জন্য আলাদাভাবে আন্তর্জাতিক ও জাতীয় পুরস্কার রয়েছে।

বাংলাদেশে উইকি লাভস আর্থ ছবি প্রতিযোগিতা পুনরায় শুরু হয়েছে![edit]

সুপ্রিয় Anik Sarker! উইকিমিডিয়া বাংলাদেশ-এর আয়োজনে দেশের সংরক্ষিত প্রাকৃতিক বনাঞ্চল ও এর জীববৈচিত্র্যের ছবি নিয়ে বাংলাদেশে চতুর্থবারেরমত শুরু হয়েছে উইকিপিডিয়ার ছবি প্রতিযোগিতা উইকি লাভস আর্থ ২০২০। এক মাসব্যাপী স্থায়ী প্রতিযোগিতাটি ১ জুন, সোমবার থেকে শুরু হয়ে ৩০ জুন পর্যন্ত চলবে।

প্রতিযোগিতা পাতায় দেয়া তালিকা থেকে বাংলাদেশের প্রাকৃতিক সংরক্ষিত অঞ্চলের যেকোনো সময় তোলা ছবি জুন মাসে জমা দিয়ে প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশ নেওয়া যাবে। প্রতিযোগিতায় একজন একাধিক ছবি জমা দিতে পারবেন। প্রতিযোগিতা শেষে প্রতিটি দেশ থেকে সেরা ১০টি ছবি আন্তর্জাতিক বিচারকদের কাছে পাঠানো হবে এবং সব দেশের ছবি থেকে সেরা ১৫টি ছবি আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে বিজয়ী ঘোষণা করা হবে। বিজয়ীদের জন্য আলাদাভাবে আন্তর্জাতিক ও জাতীয় পুরস্কার রয়েছে।

উইকিমিডিয়া বাংলাদেশ-এর আয়োজনে দেশের প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থাপনার ছবি নিয়ে বাংলাদেশে পঞ্চমবারেরমত চলছে বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে বড় ছবি প্রতিযোগিতা উইকি লাভস মনুমেন্টস ২০২০। ১ নভেম্বর থেকে শুরু হওয়া মাসব্যাপী স্থায়ী প্রতিযোগিতাটি ৩০ নভেম্বর পর্যন্ত চলবে। প্রতিযোগিতা পাতায় দেয়া বাংলাদেশের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থাপনার তালিকা থেকে যেকোন সময় তোলা যেকোন স্থাপনার ছবি যত খুশি আপলোড করা যাবে। বিজয়ীদের জন্য আলাদাভাবে আন্তর্জাতিক ও জাতীয় পুরস্কার রয়েছে।

বাংলাদেশের প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থাপনার ছবি তুলে ধরার উদ্দেশ্য নিয়ে আবারো শুরু হয়েছে উইকি লাভস মনুমেন্টস ছবি প্রতিযোগিতা। ১ অক্টোবর থেকে শুরু হওয়া এই প্রতিযোগিতাটি ৩১ অক্টোবর পর্যন্ত চলবে। প্রতিযোগিতার পাতায় দেওয়া বাংলাদেশের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থাপনার তালিকা থেকে যেকোনও সময় তোলা যেকোনও স্থাপনার যত খুশি তত ছবি আপলোড করা যাবে। বিজয়ীদের জন্য আলাদাভাবে আন্তর্জাতিক ও জাতীয় পুরস্কার রয়েছে।
