Thanks for uploading File:Paula S. Fass, Berkeley, California.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

This photo is not under copyright. It is my own. Grandmother6 (talk) 00:38, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Grandmother6, well, per your description, it is under copyright by your husband, such is the world we live in. Try using this: Commons:Wikimedia VRT release generator. Copyright rules are a pain in the fundament. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:09, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so how is it best for him to proceed? Grandmother6 (talk) 16:47, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This link: Commons:Wikimedia VRT release generator. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:56, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to do this but it does not recognize the photo that I already uploaded to Wikipedia.
Help! Grandmother6 (talk) 21:17, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Anachronist? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 22:42, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Anachronist, the VRT rg is the best way forward, right? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:19, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we need an affidavit from your husband, from an email address that is verifiably belonging to your husband, releasing the photograph to the Wikimedia Foundation under an acceptable free license. If he took the photograph, then he is the copyright holder. The subject of a photograph is almost never the copyright holder unless the photograph is a "selfie", which doesn't appear to be the case here. ~Anachronist (talk) 14:10, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
He will release the copyright. Where should he send the email? Grandmother6 (talk) 16:47, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please send an email to which he can write and grant permission. 2600:1700:5F20:8940:70D4:79BE:2A38:BDB7 02:10, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But that is what the linked generator does. I just clicked through it to test, and it generated this, nice and quick:
"I hereby affirm that I, Some guy, am the creator and/or sole owner of the exclusive copyright of the following media work:
  • File:Paula_S._Fass,_Berkeley,_California.jpg
I agree to publish the above-mentioned work under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International.
I acknowledge that by doing so I grant anyone the right to use the work, even in a commercial product or otherwise, and to modify it according to their needs, provided that they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws.
I am aware that this agreement is not limited to Wikipedia or related sites.
I am aware that the copyright holder always retains ownership of the copyright as well as the right to be attributed in accordance with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be claimed to have been made by the copyright holder.
I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the content may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.

And at the same page where this was generated are instructions how to mail:
"If you have an email client installed, simply click the button below to create the release email. Alternatively, copy the text in the box below into an email to...
The email should come from an email address that we can recognise as associated with the content being released."
When sent, this mail will (in time, there's probably a backlog) be read by a Volunteer Response Team member who will approve it or communicate further if there are questions. I think that's how it works anyway, I have never used this process myself, but many others have.
Btw, you don't attach the image to this mail, you just state the local name, File:Paula S. Fass, Berkeley, California.jpg. Hope this helps you to use the generator successfully. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:10, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much. 2600:1700:5F20:8940:70D4:79BE:2A38:BDB7 17:00, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And remember to log in ;-) Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:19, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well that went much quicker than I thought. It seems you have succeeded! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 23:14, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've also nominated the other picture for deletion: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Paula Fass by David Shankbone.jpg. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 23:28, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for all you help. Yes, there was one time I forgot to log in. Will remember from now on. Grandmother6 (talk) 17:38, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
