The quality of the chemical structure Image:Mécanisme de l'E2.GIF is disputed

[edit]
Dispute notification The chemical structure Image:Mécanisme de l'E2.GIF you uploaded has been tagged as and is now listed in Category:Low quality chemical diagrams. Images in this category might be deleted after one month if there is no upload of an improved version, if there is no objection from the uploader or other users and if a better version exists. Please discuss on the image talk page if you feel that the dispute is inappropriate. If you agree with the dispute, you can either upload an improved version or simply allow the image to be deleted.

In all cases, please do not take the dispute personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! --Leyo 21:33, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rhadamante. It is possible for you to upload the structural formulae in PNG or in SVG file format? I cite from en:WP:CSDG: «If you are not able to upload good SVGs, or if they do not turn out "right", they should be uploaded in the .PNG format. Never upload a non-photographic diagram as .JPG or .GIF.» Merci en avance. --Leyo 19:59, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done (I can't do it in svg) Rhadamante (talk) 22:56, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Merci bien. Please always use .png for such images in future. --Leyo 23:11, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have a certain number of pictures to reload so... Rhadamante (talk) 00:16, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's most important that you use .png in future. If you can re-upload your existing .gif images as .png, that would also be fine (tag the replaced .gif versions with Duplicate please). --Leyo 12:16, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

HotCat

[edit]

Hi Rhadamante. Thanks for your work to improve the categorization of chemical structures. You may be interested in using the function described here (to avoid instant-saving). --Leyo 22:21, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but I already use it :) (the only excpetion is when I have to remove two or more categories, it's faster to edit than using hotcats) Rhadamante (talk) 22:22, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's obvious that you use HotCat, but do you press “Ctrl” when you want to add/change/remove more than one category? --Leyo 22:36, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah.Ok. I didnt saw this function. Thanks, it will be helpful ! Rhadamante (talk) 22:39, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And what about File:Thiane.PNG? You must admit that its quality/resolution is low. Do you want to have it deleted as there is a higher quality version, do you want to upload it in a higher quality or do you want me to do so? --Leyo 22:45, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can delete it. I uploaded it because i didn't find File:Thian.png when I was looking for a thiane example. Rhadamante (talk) 22:47, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, done. --Leyo 23:00, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

categories

[edit]

Hi Rhadamante, I have just many of your categorizations undone. I hope you're not angry about it ;-) For example, here : I think that a dibromopropane only contains bromine and no chlorine. Just as a chloroalkane is no alkane. Still happy with the creative sort. --Hystrix (talk) 20:40, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it the same as Category:Benzenediols? --Leyo 22:59, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's the same. Rhadamante (talk) 22:16, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Drawing SVG

[edit]

Hi Rhadamante. It is great that you are now able to draw SVG chemical structures. If you like, there is always work to do in Category:Low quality chemical diagrams (incl. subcategory) and Category:Chemical images that should use vector graphics. ;-) You could focus on the files that are in use in fr.wikipedia. --Leyo 05:55, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I'll look at this. Rhadamante (talk) 14:09, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Some of the worst one are probably here. --Leyo 15:04, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please have a look at Commons talk:WikiProject Chemistry/Categories#Category:Dehydratation reactions and Category:Dehydration reactions. --Leyo 20:42, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Rhadamante!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
