Troubles with lions

I'm thinking about decent alternatives. The first is a slight edit of Sodacan's lion, and the second looks a lot more like the lion that turned out to be copyright protected one. The last, being based on the official design of the city, is not under copyright. I've tested it in the Belgian state arms. Adelbrecht (talk) 10:24, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Yes, another lion is needed. I uploaded the bruges lion, with a new head, tail and paws. What do you think about it? - Ssolbergj (talk) 14:42, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Personally, I'm quite fond of the head and paws of the Bruges lion. I like the more "deformed" look of it, and it works the best in certain heraldry. Your adaptation has its merits too. Perhaps we should use different lions depending on the coat of arms? The Bruges lion fits quite good with my designs for the Belgian provinces, and I will probably use your adaptation in my Napoleonic arms. What will be used for the Belgian royal and state arms, I think we'd best leave that to Katepanomegas so there's a unity of style. I'll phase out my adaptation of the Sodacannic lion, and replace it with either of the two Bruges lions where I see fit, but first I'll work on replacing the existing copyright infringements.
Oh, could you perhaps adapt your new amalgamated head to the supporters? I'm not that fond of the top part of the head of the Sodacannic lion, in here for example. Adelbrecht (talk) 16:12, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
What I don't like about the Bruges lion is the lower part of its mane, which clearly was drawn to suite the huge cross which hangs around the original lion's neck. There is also a lack of detail on top of its head due to the original crown. The shading on its claws is also a bit crude. - Ssolbergj (talk) 16:33, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
You're right. I didn't really notice in my haste to replace the lion. It's not that noticeable unless really looked at closely. I'll see if I can reshade it, add an ear and a curl to the head without butchering it. I'll replace the files in which I've used it already later on, though. First priority is saving my files from deletion. :p Adelbrecht (talk) 16:51, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Sorry to barge in here, but I'd go for the lion based on Sodacan's with a different head. In my opionion it simpler and more universally applicable thann the Bruges lion. But they're your files. :-) Sir Iain (talk) 21:54, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

I've added yet another sodacan tail and head to the bruges lion. These look better than the previous ones IMO. - Ssolbergj (talk) 00:00, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Oh, I really like this one. Adelbrecht (talk) 10:41, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

I really like your Euler chart of European Military Integration. It is very helpful to envision the various national participation. I do believe you should check out the NATO membership, though. While Malta had a MAP program at one time, they never joined. Cyprus had also been vetoed by Turkey and therefore has not aceded to NATO. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for the diagram, though. Julien Houle (talk) 22:21, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! I fixed the NATO membership like you said. - Ssolbergj (talk) 01:41, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I really like your coats of arms, particularly EU ones.... How do you do? Can you do one for me?

Hello Ssolbergj,

I was wondering if you checked the various memberships shown on your European Defence Integration euler diagram. Some of them have missing members, for example, the NATO group should include Albania and Croatia which are the newest members and have been admitted as of 1 April 2009. There should be 28 members in all. This is meant to be constructive criticism and hope it is taken that way as I really admire your work.

eagle and black raven in sweden coat of arms

Hello, I hope you are well I read with interest a 1944 book entitled Dynastien Bernadottes vapen och det svenska riksvapnet Arvid Berghman.

It tells us that the Napoleonic eagle crest disappears in 1826 (not 1844) to make way for a black raven sitting on a lightning (like an eagle) until 1885 the raven becomes an eagle but with the black beak and legs and golden eagle returns in 1908 while gold.

This text is identical to the arms of the Union Sweden-Norway.

Bjelbo lion

Hej!

You've been doing some really great work with your heraldic lions. I wonder if you'd care to improve the Bjelbo arms with a lion like the one from Oscar II's arms or the lion of Bulgaria. Thank you, and thanks again for your ongoing work in heraldry! Wilhelm meis (talk) 03:34, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Someone just showed me this one, which will do quite nicely. Wilhelm meis (talk) 17:44, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Nordic Battle Group lion

I'd like to suggest a couple corrections to File:Coat of Arms of the Nordic Battlegroup.svg. According to Henrik Klackenberg (Statsheraldiker) and Vladimir Sagerlund (Heraldic Artist), the coat of arms officially retains its genitalia, while the sleeve patches used by the military differ in that way from the registered coat of arms. (Here is Riksarkivets version.) Sagerlunds comments to Göteborgs Posten can be found here. I believe also from the blazon that the tongue should be silver and the teeth should be red (the lion is armed gules but not langued gules). [Nevermind that, looking at their own images here and here, they seem to consider a red tongue and silver teeth to be consistent with this blazon, but it should have genitals.] Thank you, once again, for your help! Members of the Order of the Seraphim

As the creator of the collar of the order, as well as many other components of the Swedish coats of arms, would you be willing to also make the coats of arms of the members of the Order of the Seraphim seen in this DR? Most of them already have the necessary components on Commons and just need to be put together. Fry1989 eh? 04:42, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Ssolbergj

Please see this edit, I think very generic maps like this should be in Public domain, some users have already tagged theirs maps with {{PD-self}}. Could you refuse your copyright to PD-self? This will simplify using them in functional templates on Wikipedia. Regards, --Rezonansowy (talk) 12:06, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Various German Imperial Arms

Hi, remember the discussion back in October 2011 [1] when I pointed out factual heraldical errors in your versions of the Imperial German arms? You actually wanted to correct them but it's been 2 years now nothing has happened. Meanwhile your pictures are present in several wikipedias presenting false information to readers and infact some have taken over a few of the errors in their derirative work. So again I would like to kindly ask you to correct these issues soon, otherwise a deletion request must be filed to prevent further spread of errornous information. For correcting the errors it would be best to have a look into Ströhls blazon descriptions. Greetings, --David Liuzzo (talk) 23:38, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
