Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page, write this: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], it makes this: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper
Made a mistake?
  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|Correct name}}
  • For more information read the full Deletion guidelines

Permission to use photo of earthworm[edit]

May I use photo of earthworm for school books? Contact me at sandra.poon@pearson.com Thanks Sandra Poon Pearson Malaysia

More locations, please! ;-)[edit]

Hi Rob, could you add photo locations to File:Anagallis Arvensis 0.0 R.jpg and other related files, please. To a botanist, images of plants are worthless without locations; but with them, they are valuable. Same of course for zoologists for animal photos. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 21:28, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Use of your pictures for a book[edit]

Hi,

We’d like to use some of your pictures for a book that will be publish next fall. On the Internet site that we consulted, it says that the pictures are copyright free.

The title of the book is Secrets de plantes 2 and the name of the author is Fabien Girard. The initial print run will be 1000 copies.

We’d like to have your autorisation by e-mail to use those pictures. If you accept, what is the exact name of the source that we must write beside the pictures?

Here are the links of the pictures.

Descriptions[edit]

Greetings Rob Hille! I recently came across your excellent contributions to the project and notice that you learned how to put in descriptions in about September 2007. Of course that means that all your uploads prior to then have no descriptions! I spent some time this morning filling in the chamomiles, but would appreciate your help with the others. Please see the bottom half of [1] for the list that do not have description/dates... it shows in the right column which do and which don't. Your photos are so superb, I was enjoying looking at all of them, but since you are still very active here, I am asking for your help in putting the descriptions/locations right on some of your older work. Thank you so much! Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 16:15, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:Gazania rigens 0.1 R.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Amanita phalloides R.H. 01.jpg[edit]

Hallo Rob, I think your File:Amanita phalloides R.H. 01.jpg is never an Amanita phalloides but seems to be Leucoagaricus leucothites. Can you ask an expert, please, or shall I do so ? If I'm right, we should rename and recategorize this and may be other files of Amanita phalloides. Greetings from Ruhland, Germany --Wilhelm Zimmerling PAR (talk) 22:13, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mycelium (3) photo[edit]

Hi there, Rob

I was curious if you have a higher resolution version of your myclelium photos (number 3 in particular). I would love to use it as additional artwork for my band Ghosts of Glaciers’ album artwork to be released on vinyl, cd, other digital mediums, and/or as a shirt design. If you have a higher resolution photo (at least 300 dpi) and/or a vector version of them I would love to use them. Really great stuff. Let me know what you think!

Hi Steven There is no higher resolution. Sorry for the late answer<Iam not so activ ennymore. And you are free to use the picture (I like the idea) :-) Greetings Rob
