User Winertai[edit]

I discussed the copyright with User:Winertai, and he understand the licenses in Wikimedia commons. Please unlock Winertai, let he modify these pictures. Thank you. --KaurJmeb 11:35, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now I am unblocking Winertai. Thank you very much for your taking time to negotiate him and solve the problem. -Ananda (阿難陀) 14:22, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

adminship[edit]

Thanks to your support, I was successful on my adminship as well. Thanks! -- WB 06:57, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion[edit]

What do you think we should do for Template:Deletion_requests#Image:Glico-Ebisu.jpg? I need your opinion. Thanks. -- WB 07:21, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Watto[edit]

Hi Ananda, You wrote in the deletion log:

  • Clear copyvio. The character is copyrighted by Goerge Lucas or his company

I do not see anything clear here. The character may be copyrighted, but photographs of a tv showing the character are allowed. So are photographs of statuettes of the character. So are "artist impressions".

But maybe your opinion is different? :-) Zanaq 16:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS, I think the proper procedure should have been followed, and maybe a notification on my talkpage would have been nice. Zanaq 16:21, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Have you ever read Commons:Licensing#Scope_of_Licensing? It describes,
Note that in some cases, a document (media file) may have multiple aspects that can and have to be licensed: Every person that contributed a critical part of the work has rights to the results, and all have to make their contribution available under a free license.
In this case, the character is copyrighted by Geroge Lucas or his conpany, as I mensioned. And you have copyright to this picture and released some kind of free license. However, Original character is not released free license, Therefore, this is not acceptable to Commons.
I know in some of the country, copyright to design is not applicable when other person creat whole new painting of the character. But I do not think it is applicable to Commons.-Ananda (阿難陀) 13:20, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This picture has multiple aspects that can and have to be licensed!

We on the dutch wikipedia allow things like these. On commons one may find a similar case like this.
Do you feel these analogies are adequate? Zanaq 21:42, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Photograph of third dimensionl of certain copyrited material is a different case. AFIAK, we do not have certain consensus on these kind of material. -BTW, I think these are not acceptable.
Now, in your case, your Watto picture uploaded to Commons is reproduction and distribution of Watto. Without conset of all of the copyright holder, this action is prohibited in most of jurisdiction. Thus I think this is not acceptable.
Any way, this discussion seems stuck in the mud. Maybe we need third party's opinion. I propose your picture to Deletion request, and let others discuss? -Ananda (阿難陀) 00:57, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If I may photograph a trird dimension, I can draw a third dimension, that seemas clear to me. it is not a reproduction, but an impression.
Anyway, thanks for your support, submitting for deletion is ok by me, that seems the correct procedure. let's see how the others feel about it. Zanaq 10:58, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Be carefull that drawing 3D picture is just reproduction. You have to photograoph true 3D material. I am so sorry that I could not help you much. Actually I love this painting because I am very fan of Star Wars. If Commons accept this, I will surely tagged on candidates for featured pictures. -Ananda (阿難陀) 14:59, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again. I have placed my objections on the deletion page. Let's see what the community thinks. Zanaq 15:42, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It seems the image has been kept. great. Zanaq 11:21, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting a whole gallery[edit]

Hi, I just got back online to Wikimedia Commons. I normally only post at the german wikipedia. And now i saw, that all my uploaded pictures were deleted! Why? The Link to the Deletion request page is working, but the thread is already gone! They were my own pictures, I took them myself. Why were got they deleted? --Outburn 20:17, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Commons:Deletion requests/Archives06#All images on User:Outburn/gallery.-Ananda (阿難陀) 12:56, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commons-l subscription[edit]

Hello Ananda,

as per Commons talk:Administrators, I am asking all admins to subscribe to commons-l, a mailing list for Wikimedia Commons policy and project discussion. Since many admins are only on Commons infrequently, this is a good way to alert people about important happenings. The mailing list is nominally multilingual, but predominantly English.

If you are already subscribed to commons-l, I apologize for bothering you, and you are free to ignore this message. If you don't want to use your regular e-mail account, feel free to leave me a message, and I can send you a GMail invite. Traffic on the mailing list is relatively low, and we do not expect admins to read all messages to the list, but it would be nice if you could check on it at least every few weeks. Thanks for your time,--Eloquence 22:57, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin news[edit]

Hello,

If you consent for statistics to be published about your actions as an administrator, please sign here: Commons:Administrator permission for statistics. (I expect that most people will not have a problem with it unless you are especially concerned with privacy.)

Also, please be aware that we now have a Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. Please put it on your watchlist, if you haven't already!

Thai provincial seals[edit]

Image deletion warning Some of the Thai provincial seals have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Image:Forest of Sai Yok National Park.JPG[edit]

Hi

 This picture, I really like.
I don't know a thing about licenses. But I liked this picture.
I would like to include it in a YouTube Video I would like to do.
I have only uploaded to YouTube only what I myself have videotaped

or photographed.

I have been photographing and videotaping trees in my area

of Northern California of San Joaquin Valley. I would like to use your photo in my video. Your photo captures so much in that frame.

I only want to copy it. I DO NOT WANT TO ALTER IT IN ANY WAY.
How does a person like me go about coping your photo to add to

my videos that I upload on a public free internet site called YouTube.

You are so lucky to have traveled so much, as I noticed in your

gallery.

 Thank you

  Dboots 03:14, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I have changed the license of the photo. The new license is PD. You can use my photo without any regulations. Please use it as you like ;-) --Ananda 08:31, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ananda[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me.

Thank you for your permission to add your photo of the tree into my Youtube Video.

Sincerly

Hi,

You have uploaded many images belonging to this category, and tagged them as {{PD-Seal}}. This template has been rendered obsolete and most images have no source, so all images in this category will be deleted in seven days if no source is given. Would you be so kind to help finding sources and tagging the images appropriately? Thank you, Patrícia msg 14:53, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I do not know the source. It may be from Royal Gazette (Ratchakitchanubeksa) like Image:Seal Phetchabun.png but I could not specify at all. I am so sorry. --Ananda 15:57, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Administrative notice[edit]

Deutsch

Dear Ananda. I am writing to you to inform you that because of inactivity, you may lose your adminship on Commons.

Commons has a new policy on admin activity, Commons:Administrators/De-adminship, taken into use on June 13, 2007 (after a two-week poll on the proposed policy's talk page).

If you want to keep your adminship, you have to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section within 30 days. Note that if you don't make 5 admin actions in the following 5 months, you will then lose the adminship anyways.

Thank you,
abf /talk to me/ 18:42, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for noticing me of this. I am inactive as you said, because of my health problem. Therefore I could not contribute to Wikimedia projects so much these days, and I am glad to lose my adminship for this compensation.--Ananda 13:13, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Royal_Emblem_of_Rama_III.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.
