A cookie for you![edit]

Hi Blaise Raise, Thanks for your recent contributions to Ghana related images. Will like to hear from you soon. Regards. Enock4seth (talk) 19:38, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Distorted images[edit]

Why are you uploading image that have been distorted so they look totally disproportionate and all wrong? Such as File:Kumasi Street and Taxicabs – Panorama.jpg No one is going to use them because they are essentially false, so someone will have to nominate them for deletion and an admin will then delete them. Why give the volunteers a load of extra work? Unless you have some very good reason, they are useless. Ww2censor (talk) 00:06, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have plans to use all the "panoramas" that I have uploaded very soon (today on 19 February 2014) so please do not attempt (or try not to attempt) to delete the "panoramas" that I have spent time and energy creating and then uploaded, thank you, sincerely. Blaise Raise (talk) 00:20, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What are you going to use them for? They are not true accurate panoramas, they are distorted images. Ww2censor (talk) 00:29, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I will simply use the "panoramas" that I have spent time and energy creating and then uploaded (today on 19 February 2014) for the reason I uploaded the "panoramas" in the first place "in a article(s)". The "panoramas" that you have suggested or claimed to be distorted images I can simply re-upload versions of the "panorama(s)" without the need of any image that I have spent time and energy creating and then uploaded being deleted. You should know this "or" you can simply re-upload a "correct proportionate and essentially un-false panorama" since you seem to be a "Panoramic photography Expert", thank you, sincerely. Blaise Raise (talk) 00:45, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I even noticed these image is that the Flickreview bot could not verify the licence, so it has to be done manually. And some, perhaps all, of the images appear to also have been uploaded as normal from Flickr, so the bot review passed them. I really don't understand what you are trying to say. You want to use these distorted images in articles. Is that it?. Why? They look really bad and I am sure I will not be the only one to notice, so even if I ignore them, I'm pretty sure someone else will question them. Having been a professional photographer for more than 25 years I actually do know something about the topic. A panorama is normally a very wide landscape image, and nowadays they are sometime stitched to create the panorama, but your images were simple normal images that have been compressed vertically creating a false panorama. If you want to make a true panorama, then you need to crop off the top and bottom of the image but not distort them. That's my advise to you. Currently everything is distorted and squashed looking, which sometime goes unnoticed with a pure landscape but recognisable objects, like cars, people, etc., just look all wrong. I'd appreciate a response. Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 10:12, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much "Ww2censor" for politely explaining to me, I have re-uploaded uncompressed/un-distorted versions of the proclaimed distorted or false "panoramas", thank you, sincerely. Blaise Raise (talk) 13:45, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your patience. I noticed that your reuploads are at a lower than maximum resolution, which we always try to use, so by way of example I cropped one from the highest resolution on Flickr and uploaded it. See what you think of File:Manhyia Palace – Panorama.jpg now. Look at the differnce in the "file history". I can help you with the rest if you like. Good luck. Ww2censor (talk) 14:30, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much "Ww2censor" for the work you have helped me complete with File:Manhyia Palace – Panorama.jpg, I really appreciate it, and if you could please help me do the same thing on the following images making them "panoramas" I would be very grateful: File:Kumasi Street and Taxicabs – Panorama.jpg, File:Road Intersection and Road Junction, Accra – Panorama.jpg, File:Kumasi – Bus Rapid Transit (V.I.P Bus Service) Bus Rapid Transit System – Panorama.jpg, File:Kumasi Highway – Panorama.jpg and File:Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi.jpg, thank you, sincerely. Blaise Raise (talk) 00:49, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Blaise Raise. I've recropped the images you listed plus some others I found to an approximate proportion of 3:1 but they do vary considerably. I hope they work for you. BTW I presume you meant File:Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi – Panorama.jpg not File:Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi.jpg. However, I must comment that most of the cropped images that you have added to the Accra article really do not add much by way of encyclopaedic value. They just take up a lot of space and are not really very interesting. Actually a nice "real" panorama of the city, like some of the better ones found here [1] would be really good instead of several others; this one File:Accra Skyline - Wide view.jpg is not really very good quality. In fact the article has too many images overall that don't illustrate specific points of prose; you may not be aware but the mission here is that we are an encyclopaedia not a gallery of photography. I have also unforced most of the images per the manual of style direction found at w:WP:IMGSIZE. Good luck. Ww2censor (talk) 22:58, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Black Stars' (Ghana national football team's) Africa Cup of Nations Trophy (Abdelaziz Abdallah Salem Trophy) 1957—1978.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Black Stars' (Ghana national football team's) Africa Cup of Nations Trophy (Abdelaziz Abdallah Salem Trophy) 1957—1978.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
