The corresponding image with seashells itself has been renamed after blackening out the wrong label, but for the label-only side this doesn't seem useful, not much remains, then better to remove it. Yeah, Cathy Richards found it and nominated for deletion and I delete all, what she nominates for deletion. You are the first, who complains over her nominations. Actually I think, that Cathy is right. Empty categories are deleted, even if it's possible, that they are populated someday. For example, some bot created a lot of categories for years, and somebody nominated last month all empty year categories for deletion. They got deleted. Taivo (talk) 19:55, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

The request was closed on formal reason, the request's cause was not discussed. I thought, that Russavia's cause for creating request was important. He is not the only user in Commons, who uploads a lot of photos and later nominates some of them for deletion, sometimes even for speedy deletion. Most files in the request were self-uploaded, but not all. I tried to spot the files, uploaded by others, and not to delete them. Taivo (talk) 21:35, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Storkk, I am confused. I looked all deleted contributions of Ghostchild. There are real copyright violations among them, I do not want to restore them all. There are some music, deleted more than 5 years ago. It is not clear, what to undelete. But as you are not administrator, you do not see Ghostchild's deleted files. Deletion of Wikimedia commons file

Recently, you deleted an upload of a DVD cover of the film Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare. I had uploaded the file and tried to find a fitting license for it, seeing as I have seen numerous examples of DVD covers and film posters being uploaded to Wikipedia without a proper license. Would you be able to advise me on whether or not it is indeed possible to upload these photographs (as noted in my rationale, there are no free versions of these images and yet they in no way impede the film's commercial viability), and if so what steps I need to take in order to rationalise the use of a non-free image? No, album and book covers are generally not suitable for Commons and they are speedily deleted on the spot. They are allowed into Commons only with OTRS-permission. Fair use is prohibited in Commons. You may also benefit from reading about fair use. Taivo (talk) 13:43, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Hong Kong road signs

Я дополнил описание файла, включив в источники каждую фотоработу, указав её автора, год и оригинальное название- списком на двух языках. Изменил "лицензию" на сборный коллаж-файл. Если нет предложений и замечаний по редакции и публикации, то прошу снять файл с номинации на удаление и отозвать шаблон со страницы файла.

• По поводу первого пункта: на викискладе мне на глаза попалась карта (как оказалось на эстонском), я её немного отредактировал и решил перезалить на викисклад. Но ошибся с адресом страницы. В итоге добавил эстонскую карту в испанскую :) Сейчас я уже не вспомню где я взял эстонский вариант, но он точно был на викискладе. Angevilish, thank you for asking.

Every file in Commons must be enough free from copyright. Some files are free from copyright, because they are old and their copyright is expired. Covers are new files. They can be in Commons, if copyright holder gives his/her rights away. Copyright holder must do that, nobody else can do that instead. If book author gave you the files, then you are not eligible to publish them under any license. You got only files, not copyright of book covers. And even book author cannot publish these files under free license, only cover artist can do that. Please read more thoroughly about licenses in COM:L.

Commons cares about copyright, even if copyright holder does not do that. Please read more thoroughly about that in COM:PRP. For example, there is sentence: "The file is obviously common property. It can be found all over the internet and nobody has complained" – and this is sign of copyright violation.

Of course, I have right to undo any my edit, including restoring files, but I do not restore copyright violations.

Copyright holder (that means cover artist, not book author or you) must send OTRS-permission. If there are names of deleted files in the permission, then the files will be restored. Taivo (talk) 17:18, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Category:Porte

I had cleaned up Category:Porte (Italy) earlier by removing the multitude of images of doors uploaded by French speakers (porte is "door" in French). As long as there is a redirect page called "Porte", images of doors will end up in the category of the Italian city. 4. Пожалуйста разделите файлы на несколько независимых файлов:

Ведь это два разных снимка сделанные с разных ракурсов да ещё и в разные годы!
А также, может быть есть шаблон (код) который ставится как метка для разделения фотографии?

Categories for protected areas in Bavaria

Hello Taivo,

seems you deleted some empty categories for Protected landscape areas and geotopes in bavarian districts (Landkreis) yesterday. This may be justified by Commons rules, but these categories are needed, they are linked to from German wikipedia protected area lists and as I learned today (but have not checked it) from Wikidata. We still have hundreds (Bavaria) or thousands (Germany) of uncategorized pictures from WLE to sort, this work is easier if categories are already there. It is very likely that these categories will get some input during the next months. Even if not, Wiki Loves Earth campaign 2016 will probably get pictures for these, too.

It seems an IP is adding deletion requests to those categories. It could be a person stalking User:Derzno, but I am not sure. The IPs can be from different countries and providers, that person also used open proxies in the past.

Let me add here something, 2 or 3 SLAs came from me either. These requests were based on typos or duplicated cats, but I'm not providing such as an IP or fake account. You can see this easily while checking the history. Additionally I didn't saw on a couple of these deletions if an SLA was provided or not. When I'd recognized, the cat was almost already deleted. So far as I’ll remember a couple SLA was provided from an IP in the Netherlands similar to the IP who left comments on my discussion page. Indeed, it is strange to me why an IP can request SLA without further checking and asking what's behind. As mentioned from @Blech: these categories were been defined due to an overall and overlapping system on Wikipedia (de) and commons. The resulting problem now is that Wikipedia links ending as well in nothing while referenced to commons. Not sure what is the general issue here in commons and why not accepted to keep empty cats open for the future. This strategy makes it easier for uploaders to sort by themselves new pictures and keeping not others busy with finding where to drop and sort later on.--Derzno (talk) 18:37, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

6. Вопрос по поводу отображения файлов в формате svg.
Возможно этот вопрос не по адресу, но я его всё-таки задам. Итак возьмём для примера два файла:
File:Страны, эксплуатирующие Ил-76.svg
File:Sukhoi Su-24 shootdown Syrian-Turkey border.svg
Оба файла я отредактировал и перезалил. Но ни первый, ни второй почему то не показываются в "предпросмотре". Т.е. я открываю страницу с файлом File:Sukhoi Su-24 shootdown Syrian-Turkey border.svg, а там всё таже карта-схема. Но если выбрать This image rendered as PNG in other widths: 200px, 500px, 1000px, 2000px., то тогда открывается картинка именно самой последней версии svg файла. Отсюда вытекает вопрос: можно ли что-то сделать с Размер этого PNG-превью для исходного SVG-файла: который почему показывает картинку от предыдущего SVG-файла ? Заранее большое спасибо, и я надеюсь вы поняли суть вопроса.

Ну да. Случается, что в браузере видно не последняя версия. Чтобы сохранить время, некоторые браузеры считают страницы только однажды, а потом используют локальную копию, даже если страница изменлась. Если нажмать F5, тогда страница считается снова в компютер. Это зависит от браузера, как его заставить автоматически чаще считать страницы.

I explained it thoroughly in deletion rationale. At first, uploader nominated it for deletion on uploading week – this is valid reason for speedy deletion. You declined the categories' speedy deletion requests, insisting that Kamaboko means "fish paste" in Japanese. But even if that is grammatically correct, we should keep in mind that the company's English name is "Yamasa Kamaboko". What it means is that "Yamasa fish paste" is not official nor authorised term, will hardly be used, thus Category:Yamasa fish paste and Category:Yamasa fish paste Yumesaki factory are not good redirects at all. As another example, imagine Category:Nintendo has a redirect named "Category:Ninten hall" (that's what do means in Japanese) and I'm sure you will think it is nonsense. Agtt-gs, please read Commons:Project scope/Pages, galleries and categories#Non-allowable user page/gallery/category content about userpages. They are mostly for describing, who you are in Wikipedia. I think, that userpages, which talk only, who you are outside Wikipedia, are not good. You may also read {{No advertising}}. Now I see, that self-promotion is not your only goal in Wikipedia, that's good. You can re-create the userpage, but it should not consist only self-promotion.
