This was not scanned from a book. It was scanned from my personal files that my grandfather drew. My grandfather was the artist of the series. The copyright has long since expired since he died in 1958. King features once owned the copyright. If anyone owns the copyright, it would be my father. Fish Cop 17:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, actually in most countries the copyright lasts 70 years after the author's death so the copyright didn't really expire. I'm not sure who exactly in your family now owns the copyrights (whoever inherited your father's property I suppose) but I guess it should be fine if you have their permission. Yonatan:I have seen reprints and even a bootleg comic book copy printed in a South American country. I placed the scans here so that people can see what the characters looked like. I own the only known remaining original strips my grandfather drew which my father gave me. I gave some to my cousin and nephew. Nobody should be able to claim copyright other than my father or me. I have no problem releasing it into public domain for historical purposes. Fish Cop 15:28, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Yonatan: I am going to switch it to Comicpanel for licensing. That should clear up any possible fights over copyright and still allow Wiki viewers to see my Grandfather's drawings. Fish Cop 17:41, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Comicpanel doesn't work here as that would make it fair use which is automatically deleted from commons (as you can see by the fact that it redirects to a speedy deletion template. Thanks for uploading Image:Curley statue.004.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. It is a derivative work of a statue that might be copyrighted. You need permission from the sculptor to publish this photo unless the statue is PD. Kjetil r 00:46, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, the United States do not have a freedom of panorama, so it is not really relevant that it is on public display.

Derivative works of copyrighted works of arts are supposed to be speedy-deleted, so I'll have to delete your photo. If you want to use it on a project that allows fair use, you might be able to upload it there and make a fair use claim. Kjetil r 16:09, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

This needs information about who took the photograph and confirmation that that person has released it into the public domain. Thank you. NE2 12:49, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

This photo is public domain; I mentioned the source of the photo when I uploaded it. The state transportation library scanned it and gave it to me. They have custody of the original. If you want to delete it go ahead, I will just re-post it on Wikipedia.Fish Cop 18:35, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
