Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

- I am going to make a request of you. We have some tools to help automate the uploading of flickr images, specifically flinfo and flickr2commons. If you use those tools then they leave the flickr-id of the flickr user in the author field.
- This is extremely useful for finding other images from the same flickr user. Just search for the url of that flickr-id, using the external links tool, like this should https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALinkSearch&target=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fpeople%2F123443813%40N05&title=Special%3ALinkSearch search for all images that were uploaded by the BSEE... Except it won't find your non-standard uploads.
- So, please, either use a standard tool, or if there some reason why you don't want to do that, manually include the url of the flickr-id
- Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 13:55, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

File:Lake Hood Landing.webm
[edit]Hello, the file File:Lake Hood Landing.webm you uploaded doesn't have a license tag attached. I see you put CC BY-SA there and on Vimeo (assuming the uploader there is you) but those statements are missing a version number. There have been several versions of the CC BY-SA license with slightly different terms, so it's important to specify which you mean. The latest version is 4.0. You can add the tag yourself under the Licensing header by editing the page and inserting the text {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}. On Vimeo, the process is explained here. I believe Vimeo uses the 3.0 versions, so if that's the case, make sure the versions match on both sites so that a license reviewer can verify it. clpo13(talk) 20:46, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
- Never mind! I see you left a note on the file's talk page with the license version. I'll make sure the proper license tag gets added. clpo13(talk) 20:49, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
