[edit]

Eric, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Corp., will be reusing your France location map (France location map-Regions and departements.svg) as part of a PowerPoint presentation entitled, ‘An Overview of Population Health Management,’ which will be given to ~1200 health care professionals as a speakers’ engagement over the course of 2 years. The presentation will be given in the US in English only. It will be stored on a password-protected Merck site (www.merckspeakerservices.com) for only contracted and approved key opinion leaders to access (~12 KOLs) for a period of 2 years. Amanda

Use of Africa relief map in Social Studies textbook for Zambia

[edit]

Dear Eric I found your relief map of Zambia on Wikimedia Commons and saw that it was licenced as CC-WP-SA (which therefore includes commercial use). I trust, therefore, that it will be acceptable to use this map for free in a Social Studies textbook for Zambia, which I am handling as a freelance editor for Oxford University Press in South Africa. We are trying to keep the book as affordable as possible for Zambian learners.

I look forward to hearing whether you will allow us to use this photo in the tectbook!

Thanks and best wishes Linda Bredenkamp

France map

[edit]

Hello Eric

As you have specified, I am letting you know that I would like to use your picture "France location map-Regions and departements.svg" for use on the English language 'Championnat National' Wikipedia page to display the location of the clubs on a map. My username is Patsd4. Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you for the information. Sting (talk) 19:44, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
File:SPLIT-Hebrard overall color restitution.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Question about reprinting one of your figures

[edit]

Hi Mr. Gaba,

I am currently writing my undergraduate geology thesis and was wondering if I could have permission to reprint a slightly altered version of your plate tectonic figure (specifically the section over Asia) that i found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plate_tectonics and here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/Tectonic_plates_boundaries_detailed-en.svg

I would also like to print it on a poster that will be hung for about one year in the hallway of my university's geology and physics building. I will not be presenting the poster to a large audience, however it will be visible to anyone who visits the building.

I can assure you that your work will be fairly credited. Please let me know if this is okay. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best, Julia user:Jcarrizosa

Hello Julia. Thank you for the information. I'm glad to know that this map can be helpful for your student work. Sting (talk) 19:51, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear Eric, thank you! I've just made a derivative from your map. There is a problem, while trying luxo's derivative upload tool I got this error ("this file has been nominated for deletion!"). I tryied to reformat the license template of the file, but did not work. May be you're more expert than me (of course you are, I'm not expert at all!) and would take a look at this problem. Since your map is a splendid starting base for other works, it would be nice having luxo's upload working fine on it. Again, thanks. -- Fulvio 314 08:02, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, you're authorized to freely use the picture I created as long as you credit me as the author in your publication.

Hi

[edit]

Hola nuevamente. 18004016740

Administrative division of Egypt

[edit]

Dear Sting, as it seems, were the boundaries of the Egyptian governements changed around 2011, most drastically in the Red Sea, Aswan and New Valley Governorates (Red Sea and New Valley lost area to Aswan), but also in other areas.

Some official web sites documenting the new boundaries are here:

User:NordNordWest already put new SVG maps here (those with "(2011)" in the file name).

I still need to ask you to put the new boundaries on the location map, thank you.

Greetings,--Ratzer (talk) 08:19, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ratzer. Thank you for the information. I updated the map.

It is really difficult to find references about the new shape of the boundaries: except the links you give there are very few maps on the Web with the updated boundaries. Even the GADM shows the old shape. Googling for a while I didn't find any textual reference about the modification of the shape of the Governorates. Greetings. Sting (talk) 20:19, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sting, thank you for the map updates. I also found it unsatisfactory that no textual information about those boundary changes appears to be online. However, colleague RolandUnger on the German Wikipedia knows more about it, and mentioned that the boundary changes are documented in Presidential Decree 114/2008 and Decree of the Supreme Council of the Amred Forces 63/2011. By the way, the new boundaries are also shown at Citypopulation.de, which is not an official webpage, but which in this case refers to CAPMAS. Most insterestingly, this map not only shows the governorate boundaries, but also the level below (districts or markaz). Greetings,--Ratzer (talk) 09:17, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Big lake in the in the southeast of Costa Rica?

[edit]

There's a big lake on your Costa Rica map ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/de/Costa_Rica_relief_location_map.jpg/1024px-Costa_Rica_relief_location_map.jpg ) at approximate 9 / -83.25. I cannot find this lake in other maps. I can just find this confluence in that region: https://www.google.com/maps/@9.0094233,-83.2178926,3879m/data=!3m1!1e3

en:El Diquís Hydroelectric Project, obviously still in the planning stages, map showing the area to be flooded, I presume.--Ratzer (talk) 20:04, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, looks like the Vmap-0 data isn't very much accurate. Thanx for pointing my attention on this point. I'm already preparing a new version. Sting (talk) 13:29, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, this was not my contribution, but of IP 132.230.69.46 who forgot to sign. I only added the explanation, but the IP did not respond anymore. Greetings,--Ratzer (talk) 09:17, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
