Margareta Fredkulla in Vä

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you added this picture from Vä Church of one of the donor portraits. I'm curious to know your source, how do you know is Margareta Fredkulla who is depicted? The most recent source I can find on the subject is Hansen, 2013 (p. 185) who lists several interpretations of whom this figure may depict. Since you used this picture to illustrate the Wikipedia articles about Margareta Fredkulla I assume you have some convincing source, showing that it is certainly she? I'm myself currently writing an article about Vä Church (in my Wikipedia sandbox, please feel free to browse) and would therefore be very interested to know this. Kind regards, Yakikaki (talk) 15:40, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but Hansen is oooooold news in this respect, have a look at:
Ulla Haastrup & John H. Lind (2016): "Dronning Margrete Fredkulla. Politisk magthaver og mæcen for byzantisk kunst i danske kirker i 1100-tallets begyndelse" in Lars Hermanson & Auður Magnúsdóttir (red.): Medeltidens genus.
(Pictures of Margrete Fredkulla can be found on page 30 & 31)
Ulla Haastrup (2015): "Stifterbilleder og deres ikonografi i danske 1100-tals fresker" in Nordic Review of Iconography Nr 4, 2015, pp. 4–48. issn 2323-5586
(Pictures of Margrete Fredkulla can be found on page 11 & 14)
The latest printed churc guide that you can get if you visit Vä Church also follows this interpretation.
Though Ulla Hastrup is wrong in asuming, that Vä church was completed in 1121, the actual year of the consecration of the church is 1131 not 1121 - see:
Karsten Laust Krambs (2019): Vä Kirkes årstal på pergamentet, revisited.
Hope this answers your question? :-) Oleryhlolsson (talk) 10:08, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, this is really, really good! Thanks a lot, I will look into it. Very helpful! Best, Yakikaki (talk) 10:40, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The church guide is: Mariakyrkan i Vä (c. 2016) [text by Rune Arvidsson & Bengt-Åke Månsson] (8 pages - Margareta Fredkulla and king Niels is mentioned on page 6). Oleryhlolsson (talk) 08:45, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Portrait of King Birger

[edit]

Hello! Is the dating of this image mentioned in the literature you recently have referred to about the church? --SergeWoodzing (talk) 16:58, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, not as far as I remember. But I will look in other books about this church for this information - if I remember. Oleryhlolsson (talk) 17:10, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Margaretha Waldemarsdatter

[edit]

Oleryhlolsson (talk) 11:47, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
