Getting help

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Question about removed files[edit]

Уважаемый Rubin16 и Dmitry89, вы удалили несколько фотоснимков, кот. я загрузил пару дней назад. Эти снимки касаются обороны Киева (моего родного города) в 1941. Они, как вы понимаете, были сделаны 70 лет назад. Лично я их нашел частью в хрониках немецких дивизий, частью из переписки с немецкими ветеранами (я "дружу" с немецким языком). Что до фотографий монитора "Смоленск" и канлодки "Димитров", то я их взял из книги В.А. Спичакова, которую я купил на свои "кровно заработанные". К тому же сам автор опубликовал несколько десятков страниц из своей книги, в том числе и рисунок монитора "Смоленск", см: http://www.pinsk-flot.narod.ru/ В этой ситуации я могу опубликовать снимки? И еще один вопрос, я бы хотел опубликовать в "Wikimedia" пару снимков о боях за Киев из государственных архивов Российской Федерации (РГАКФД и др.). Я могу это сделать? Есть фотоснимок как творческий результат — и есть экземпляр, отпечаток фотоснимка. Право на результат не совпадает с правом на экземпляр. В хрониках немецких дивизий или в книге Спичакова эти фотографии могли быть напечатаны, если авторы-фотографы дали своё разрешение. Но ведь никому другому они такого разрешения не давали. А может быть, составители хроник или Спичаков не получал право на публикацию фотографий, тогда они совершили правонарушение, а мы тем более не можем следовать за ними.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 13:56, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

То, что прислали вам ветераны, это особый вопрос. Надо узнать у ветеранов, откуда взялись эти снимки, что автор снимков (фотограф) думает об их публикации и торговле ими? Что скажет автор, когда увидит свои фотографии в рекламе русской водки? Вполне может быть, что автор не даст вам такого широкого разрешения.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 13:56, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

То, что вы получили из государственных архивов, надо рассматривать отдельно. Сначала надо проверить, что именно вы получили из архива: фотографию или право распоряжаться фотографией? Очень может быть, что вы получили только право самому разглядывать, а больше ничего делать и нельзя. Затем надо проверить, что вообще имеет архив: только бумажный отпечаток фотографии? или архивисты получили от авторов-фотографов право распоряжаться?--PereslavlFoto (talk) 13:56, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
