Corrections to turks & caicos old badge[edit]

Hello, LadyofHats I have noticed that they are some corrections to be made on the old badge of turks and caicos. First, the sky on thge badge is more bluer, and second the division between the sand and the text "TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS" is not a vertical line but rather a light yellow backgroud on the text. Avocado seed[edit]

What chemicals are present in an avocado seed?... Also is an avocado seed perfectly safe to eat? Thank you 😊. 92.233.218.155 19:30, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

honestly i am surprised you come all the way here to ask, when a simple google search would have answer it. but here it is: Information about avocado seeds composition is limited, but it does contain a good range of fatty acids, dietary fiber, carbs and a small amount of protein .The seed is also considered to be a rich source of phytochemicals, including substances that plants produce to protect themselves.- it is not recomended to sonsume the seed. -LadyofHats (talk) 13:44, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

-LadyofHats (talk) LadyofHats (talk) 06:43, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, back in 2018, Kintetsubuffalo (talk · contribs) uploaded a new version of File:Seal of Virginia.svg that they credited you with creating. This version replaced a very crudely drawn seal that came from a 2005 SVG repository. Your version went through a couple revisions before being completely reverted back to the 2005 file, probably because it was just too different than what folks were used to seeing. Then last November Nux (talk · contribs) revived your version of the seal, and because the seal is then used on the state flag too, copied it there too. That too got reverted, including by me, but I've come around and right now, Nux is trying to merge the two designs, so I wondered if your skills are available to take another pass at this. The goal being to get to a version that follows the law ("her head erect and face upturned", etc) and don't differ as dramatically from the versions used IRL (like the position and direction of the tyrant's crown). We have an open discussion going on here if you're able to chime in. Thanks a million! -- Patrick, oѺ 15:37, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The only problem as I understand it is that your head was better :). I made changes that should be fine in terms of accuracy with law, but not ideal. If you could draw a head just looking to the right and with a roman helmet that would be fine. Previously you used en:Corinthian helmet which is nice and iconic, but it's more Greek then Roman. A helmet with a plume would be more appropriate (see 1876 and 1904 versions).
1876 version 1904 version
And so maybe less like Athena and more like Minerva
1876 version 1904 version
Nux (talk··dyskusja) 20:48, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, yes, so if you look at the file history for File:Seal of Virginia.svg, there's four changes from your design. First would be the Amazonian warrior's sword is supposed to be a be sheathed ceremonial sword. And I agree it is supposed to be a plume on top of her helmet, but clearly over the years it's just merged in with her helmet, perhaps to save on color since the flags you see tend to color her helmet and plume with the same blue as her toga. Third, the legal code does specifically state that she should have "her head erect and face upturned", and I think your design had her more looking down at the tyrant. Then lastly, I think his crown should be right-side-up, I think that's just something to keep the same from the versions like the engraving in front of the capitol. So those are the things Nux and I have tried to change, at least in my case amateurishly, that you might have better luck with. Thanks a million! -- Patrick, oѺ 01:20, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
sooo about the helmet. even if you think minerva, must actual roman depictions of minerva have a corinthian helmet, well a derived one, she actually wears an Apulo-Corinthian helmet wich still has the facey thingy but can not be placed over the face. sometimes with egiptian sphinx, sometimes with medusa head, sometimes with owls or lions as decoration, sometimes without mane (the hairy thing on the top) sometimes with up to 3 of them. no feathers tho.
it wasnt until later like the Renaissance when it started getting fancy with helmet choice. and actually must representations of the feathery helmet are late on history. now, it wont be the first American seal to play bingo with historical references, and i am not into defending historical anacronismus. after all that crown is more medieval than anything else. so why dont we play chose your own helmet. [click here and chose one] if you two can agree in one i will use that one.. or propouse one.i am open for choice -LadyofHats (talk) 11:45, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I guess of those on imgur #8, but the all look a little too big to me (like look at #2), and this one Nux posted, third from the left, is the closest I see. The more I look into it, I must be some lazy mistake in the 1930s or 40s that led to the helmet becoming one large blue blob and not a small silver cap with red plume on top, and that's why I agree that seeing it as one large helmet, like a Corinthian helmet, is perpetuating this mistake. My overall perspective is that the design needs to fit within the version that the state has in places like this engraving in front of the capitol. Within that limit though, the colors and the detail can all very much be improved upon. Like I really want her face to appear, you know, feminine, which I think you previously captured so well before! -- Patrick, oѺ 13:26, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
so as for what i got so far (helmet not standing) is [this] -LadyofHats (talk) 13:32, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
so more like a basin helmet, like an old british firemen :D lol. here are your options:[|4 sketches]-LadyofHats (talk) 14:15, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That looks great :). Any of the two of helmets on the left would be fine for me. On a side note, I think the nipple is bit to too high for a natural breast anatomy ;) (that's why I moved it previously). The sword and especially the hand holding it looks better though :) Nux (talk··dyskusja) 14:36, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Holy smokes those are all so good! Yes, like an old British fireman! I think if I could, I would take the plume from the bottom right and the helmet from the top right, but if Nux likes top left, that is super too. And yes, I agree, that sword is spot on. -- Patrick, oѺ 14:43, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good day, here is a [jpg export], check for any changes needed before i upload yet another version of this seal-LadyofHats (talk) 01:18, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Two things. I do think the plume should be softer and rounded, that was why I was voting for the two bottom examples yesterday. I think that's part of trying to fit it within the outlines of the existing versions, and I worry too much deviation will lead to this project eventually getting rejected by other editors. Similarly I think here head needs to tilt up just a bit more, like 15°, and the crown needs to be closer, straighter, and with a perspective that more matches the tyrant on the ground. Here is a link for my hastily done remix of yours. Thoughts? -- Patrick, oѺ 13:36, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the head tilt -- she probably should be looking forward (into to the future I assume). I'm fine with either helmets really. I initially voted for the left side only because that plume felt more iconic (more in tune with popular image of Roman soldiers). But I also agree with Patrick that too much diversion from the official outline might cause rejection by others. In any case it looks much better, thanks :). If you need help in creating SVG or something let me know. Nux (talk··dyskusja) 18:34, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well i have been working on vector , but imgur doesnt really like those so i export as jpg to show you.. and on that line [here]is the changes, she is looking higher, changed the helmet to fit inside the old outline, and changed the crown -LadyofHats (talk) 19:00, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Stellar! Is it possible to give her eye a pupil? She just looks a little ghostly without one. And maybe the crown could be less floppy? On the seal at the capitol, I count six points visible on the front, three on the rear, if that's easy enough to match. @Nux: Thoughts? -- Patrick, oѺ 21:12, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it looks very good already :). I don't think CoAs, flags etc need pupils. I have a tendency to fine-tune my creations to perfection too, but I try to restrain myself and remember that this is supposed to be symbolic. It is also worth remembering that usually such things are viewed from a distance, or the picture is small. Nux (talk··dyskusja) 22:20, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
so i uploaded it, fixed the crown first and made a tiny hint of a pupil. but somehow white background isnt showing will try later tonight to see why is that_LadyofHats (talk) 16:14, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Super. I've gone and copied the seal over to File:Flag of Virginia.svg so they match. -- Patrick, oѺ 18:14, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, just gauging your willingness/capacity to make another revision on this seal. Since we introduced your version about two months ago, there's been a slow trickle of users on Wikipedia and the Commons complaining that it just doesn't look like what they're used to. So yesterday I mocked up a compromise where I tried to take the artistic improvements you made with colors and positions of a version folks may be more used to. Here's a link. If this is something you might have time for, I'd be happy to share the PSD file I used to push/pull/cajole items around, and/or an SVG of your seal where I've made the simple moves that I can (color, size), without adjusting paths, which I have very limited skill with. Thanks! -- Patrick, oѺ 14:25, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
at this point i am not sure making further changes without any more actual information may be rather pointless. since for every person you get on board there will be another able to complain. is there no way to send the seal to the authorities annd simply ask "is this ok?"-LadyofHats (talk) 21:26, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One last question when you get a chance: Can I set this file's licensing as {{self|cc-zero}}? I went through the other nice seals you uploaded in 2019, and that seems to be your go-to. I got some additional help from User:痛 on moving elements, and I've taken a pass to do some tidying, but I still feel like it is mainly your work and I just want to make sure the permissioning is clear since the Template:PD-xrmap is no longer accurate for the current file. Patrick Neil, oѺ/Talk 15:12, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
sorry for horrible delay :P. i would love it if it was on the public domain but it is an "official" seal and if i have learned something with all my work with the scout logos on wikipedia is that the "officals" are rather protective of their icons, and i got soo many compains about that. -LadyofHats (talk) 12:26, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
