Opinion of the author[edit]

Welcome Commons. Changes you made on 4 of my images are inoportunes. Before editing images, it is customary to take the opinion of the author. Thank you. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 07:57, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for that, will remember that. But what was exactly wrong with the images if I may ask? Hawky.diddiz (talk) 01:41, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
It's fun, because I wanted the other day, ask yourself the same question. Face-smile.svg--Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 11:20, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
They all are pretty large so I compressed them with jpegtran, lossless mode and keeping exif data. As I got compression rates up to 66% I thought it would be a good way to save bandwidth. Hawky.diddiz (talk) 13:38, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Ok I understand. In fact, as you saw, archiving is done in several formats. For a very small icons, small (for afichage in Wikis) a means big. They are automatically made from the largest file. Those who consult encyclopaedias have the file smaller and the bandwidth is not altered. Those who want to print images (we solisité by many newspapers) can load the picture high resolution. the image in high resolution must remain very high resolution. You're full of good intentions, continuous and do not hesitate to ask questions, the "elders" are there for that. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 16:06, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. Of course the images need to keep their quality and resolution. That's what lossless compression means. I know, the smaller preview/embedded images are generated and optimizing the original image doesn't affect these, this works better for smaller images that are used in full size. But I'm still not sure what was wrong with the optimized images. Hawky.diddiz (talk) 23:58, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
