Thanks for uploading File:Freddie Stroma-SGG-109176.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Uploading screenshots from YouTube[edit]

Hi Lonedirewolf. Can you please clarify why you think File:Shin Su-won, South Korean director, May 2022.png and File:Jang Jin-young, 2017.png are OK to upload to Commons under a {{YouTube}} license. Are you familiar with COM:YouTube? The fact that something is found on YouTube doesn't make it automatically OK to upload to Commons.

YouTube content needs two things for it to be OK to upload: (1) it needs to be the original creative content of the YouTube channel/account holder and (2) it needs to be clearly licensed as Creative Commons by the copyright holder of the content. In this cases, the two screenshots you uploaded seem to have no problem meeting (1), but there's no indication they've been released by their copyright holders under anything other than a standard YouTube license, and the standard YouTube license is too restrictive for Commons.

If you click "See more" in the description of the two YouTube source videos, you should be able to find something cleary stating the content is release under a Creative Commons license; if there's nothing that says such athing, it's going to be assumed to have been released under a standard license. So, if there's something in either of those two YouTube videos descriptions that says they're Creative Commons, please point it out per COM:EVID. Unless the files' licensing can be verified to be licensed as you're claiming, they are going to need to be deleted from Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:41, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What I posted above also applies to File:Kwon Eunbi, 2023 KBS Entertainment Awards.png and File:Kwon Eunbi in July 2021.png. Those two YouTube videos also seem to be released under a YouTube standard license, which again is too restrictive for Commons.
Some examples of YouTube screenshots that are OK for Commons are File:Aespa's Winter 7.jpg and File:20230720 Kwon Eun-bi (권은비).jpg. If you go to the YouTube videos provided as the sources for those screenshots, click on "See more" and scroll to bottom of each file's description, you'll see "license Creative Commons Attribution Required License (allows reuse)". This is what is needed for the files you've uploaded and only screenshots from YouTube content licensed as "Creative Commons Attribution Required License (allows reuse)" are OK to upload to Commons.
Now, if you didn't know any of this and just mistakenly thought anything from an official YouTube channel was OK for Commons, that's OK because lots of people make the same mistake. What you should do in that case is tag the three screenshots you just uploaded in the past few days for speedy deletion by adding {{Db-author}} to the top of each files page. The other screenshot from 2021 will need to be nominated for deletion per COM:DR. If you did just make a mistake, it's much better for you to acknowledge it and nominate/tag the files for deletion yourself than to have someone else tag them for deletion with {{Copyvio}}. Either way the files end up deleted, but having the files deleted as copyright violations could lead to a Commons administrator taking action against your account if too many files end up deleted as such. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:01, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pay attention to copyright
File:Kwon Eunbi in July 2021.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

  • This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: Standard YouTube License
Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
