Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello Taricksalmaci.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Meaning of "own work"
[edit]When it comes to the copyrights of photos, "own work" means that the person who took the actual photo is the copyright holder of the photo; it's the photographer who takes a photo that is generally considered to own the copyright over it, not the subject of the photo. The subjects of photos do not own the copyright of photos they appear in; they may own a physical copy of the photo, but that doesn't make them the copyright holders of the photos. So, if you're the same Tarick Salmaci shown in these photos, then they were almost certainly taken by someone else and it's that person who is the copyright holder. What you need to do then is follow the instructions in COM:OTRS#If you are NOT the copyright holder and get the copyright holder of the photo to give their COM:CONSENT. If you're unable to do so a thing, then the file(s) will be deleted in seven days or so.
If you don't understand this, try reading Commons:Licensing. If you still don't understand after reading that page, try asking for help either here on this talk page or at COM:VPC. If you continue to upload files which are either obvious copyright violations or under questinable claims of "own work", a Commons adminsitrator will be asked to intervene; so, it's better to ask for help before that happens. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:21, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

- The "own work" claim you're making for this photo is pretty hard to justify since doesn't look like a selfie and almost certainly was taken by another person. The copyright of a photo is generally going to be held by the person actually taking the photo, not the person being photographed; which means Commons if going to need to verify the consent of the photographer as explained here. So, if you know or remember who took the photo, try explaining to Commons:Licensing to them and then ask them to email their consent to Wikimedia OTRS as explained in the above template. If this isn't a photo but rather a screenshot from a broadcast of one of your fights or some other film/TV show, then the same still applies and you will need to get the consent the owners of that footage. If you weren't aware of any of this and now realize it was a mistake to uploaded the image, then that's OK. Just do nothing and it will be deleted after five days. If you don't want to wait that long, you can tag the file for speedy deletion yourself per criterion G7 as I explained below. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:00, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

- This file doesn't look like a selfie, but rather something that was professionally taken (perhaps by someone you paid to take the photo). There is no COM:EXIF data or anything else provided which allows verification that you're the copyright holder of the file, and a version of the file can be seen used online here prior to its upload to Commons. As explained above, the copyright of a photo is going to be assumed to be held by the photographer who takes the photo absent any other proof to the contrary. If this was part of a photo shoot for something, then the photographer who took the photo (or his/her employer) is going to own the copyright over the photo unless they officially transferred the copyright to you. So, the copyright holder is going to need to follow the instructions given in the above template and email their COM:CONSENT to Wikimedia OTRS for verification in order for this file to avoid being deleted. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:11, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

- This photo looks like a selfie, but it's COM:EXIF data indicates that it's a scanned image. A version of the photo can also be seen used online prior to its upload to Commons here. So, if you're Tarick Salmaci (just assuming you are by this account's username), then try updating the file directly from the camera which took this picture so that it's original EXIF data is uploaded intact. If you're unable to do this for any reason, then just send a COM:CONSENT email to Wikimedia OTRS as explained in the above template and also explained here so that the copyright ownership and the intent of the copyright holder to release the photo can be verified. Please understand that if you do this, you are basically giving anyone anywhere the world permission to download the file from Commons at anytime and re-use for any purpose (including commercial and derivative use) as long as they comply with the terms of the license you release the file under as explained here. In other words, others will be able to use this photo in a way (even a way that you might not approve of) to make money off of as long as they otherwise comply with the terms of the license the file is released under. In addition, once you "give" this permission, you won't be able to take it back. If you uploaded this photo just so that it could be used on Wikipedia and don't want people using it in any other ways, then you should understand that this isn't possible per Commons' licensing requirements. If you didn't understand any of this and you now feel it was a mistake to upload the file, then that's OK; just do nothing and it will be deleted after five days have passed. If you don't want to wait for that to happen, you can request that the file be deleted per speedy deletion G7 by adding the syntax
{{SDG7}}
to the file's page and it will be deleted by a Commons administrator faster than five days. You can do this by going to the file's page, clicking on the "Edit" button, and then adding the aforementioned syntax to the very top of the page. Click on the "Show preview" button to make sure you did so correctly (it should look like the template shown here only with information about the file added). If everything seems OK, click "Publish changes" and you'll be good to go. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:42, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

File:Tarick Salmaci on The Contender.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)
