Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

Ciao Trixt, spero di non meritarmi il titolo di rompiscatole dell'anno, anche se capisco di non poter approfittare della tua disponibilità ogni volta che mi affaccio su Commons. Be', se non chiedo troppo, abbi pazienza ancora una volta e poi vedrò di lasciarti tranquillo almeno qualche mese in più. Per venire al fatto: il 14 febbraio ho caricato il file in oggetto e poi, lo stesso giorno, ho inviato a permissions-commons la relativa dichiarazione di concessione dei diritti da parte dell'autore (per la verità ne ho inviate due perché nella prima --- si era dimenticata di inserire il nome del file). --- si è anche accorta di non aver categorizzato l'immagine; credo che dovrebbe essere "Category:Writers from Italy", ma non ne sono sicura e, in ogni caso, quando ho provato a inserirla mi è venuto il dubbio se bastava aggiungerla o se dovevo anche cancellare l'Uncategorized. Infine, cosa dannazione vuol dire "subst:Please link images"? Quali immagini devo linkare? A torta finita, avresti la bontà di guardare che pasticci ho combinato questa volta? Non so se potrò mai sdebitarmi con te, ma tu ne avrai sicuramente merito nella tua prossima reincarnazione. Un saluto affettuoso e un grazie di cuore. Immagini dritte o capovolte?

Ciao Trixt. Ti chiedo aiuto, per favore, perché ho da poco caricato con una nuova app dedicata (Commons) tre foto scattate con il cellulare. Tutto facile e veloce, ma se poi clicco sulla versione ad alta risoluzione, l'immagine è capovolta. Se la apro in photoshop invece è dritta, e anche usando lo strumento 'rotazione' presente sulla pagina del file in Commons, l'icona di previsualizzazione non coincide, ossia l'immagine risulta correttamente dritta e ruotandola diventerebbe sottosopra. Caro Trixt, ti ringrazio della risposta, ma avevo provato a svuotare la cache e con Chrome si vedevano nel verso giusto (parlo sempre e solo dell'immagine alla massima risoluzione, tutte le altre sembrano corrette) però il caricamento è sospetto perché procede dal basso in alto, mentre con Firefox la discrepanza tra le versioni più piccole e quella più grande permane. So che lo strumento rotazione funziona, ma non so se usarlo o meno perché non capisco qual'è la versione reale: dritta o capovolta? Comunque grazie dell'aiuto e per avermi informato che si vede tutto correttamente (anche alla risoluzione massima). Un cordialissimo saluto! --Antonella (talk) 19:08, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Minecraft

Ciao. Ti chiederei un parere su alcune immagini di un videogioco (Minecraft) presenti su Commons. Se per questa effettivamente il copyright non si applica, ho parecchi dubbi per questa. Dal momento che il materiale sul sito mojang.com è "© 2010-2013 Mojang AB" e quello che sta nella Wiki ufficiale non ha una licenza compatibile con Wikipedia, mi pare che l'immagine, con la tipologia di licenza inserita, andrebbe cancellata. Ti scrivo però per sapere se secondo te la soglia di originalità è comunque così bassa da rendere possibile sanare la situazione modificando la licenza con il template {{PD-shape}}. Ho inserito un'immagine (File:Chiesa_vecchia_di_Sacconago_-_volta.jpg) non mia (dovrei mandare la mail con la liberatoria) ma mi sono accorto di essermi dimenticato di diminuire la risoluzione, come richiestomi dall'autore. Interwikis: come funzionano?

Ciao Trixt. Hai idea di come funzionano gli interwikis? Allora, quelli "all'antica" si va in modifica e si aggiunge tra doppie parentesi quadre la sigla della lingua e il nome della stessa voce in quella lingua. Trovo questo sistema p.es. in Category:Tivoli (Italy). Adesso invece questo sistema è stato modificato e viene progressivamente cambiato con uno più "moderno", "centralizzato" (se ho ben capito), che fa capo a Wikidata. Mi ritrovo p.es. la Category:Temple of Vesta (Tivoli) che presenta solo un wikilink, quello francese, cliccando il quale si perviene alla voce francese che ne mostra invece 4 altri in lingue diverse. Ora però, se entro in modifica, io non trovo alcun link. Allora la mia domanda è: come procedere per aggiornarli reciprocamente, e soprattutto la categoria in Commons (visto che è lì che io lavoro)? Devo entrare in un template? Quale? O debbo invece lavorare sulla singola pagina? (ed allora valli ad individuare sigle e voci corrispondenti...). Ti sarei molto grato se mi potessi spiegare un po' come funzionano ora, di modo che io possa intervenire lì dove vedo che è necessario. Grazie infinite. Ciao Trixt. No appunto, non ho risolto. Finchè tutto era come in Commons, si faceva un copia-incolla e si era risolto. Ora invece con 'sto Wikidata è un casino, a cominciare dalle sigle delle varie lingue che quando non sono de, fr, en, it, ecc. vattela pesca! Uso libero delle opere protette dalla legge sul diritto d'autore art. 70 e sue variazioni

Scusa se riapro una discussione, ma ho visto che ti sei occupato della legislazione italiana in merito alla pubblicazione di foto relative ad opere d'arte coperte dal diritto d'autore (quadri e sculture).

Ho sollevato la questione relativa alla recente introduzione in Italia dell'Art. 70 1-bis.
ne ho parlato con Ruthven e qualcun altro. Non sono molto esperto di Wikipedia, ma credo che un tuo parere in merito potrebbe essere chiarificatore.

Your VFC installation method is deprecated

Hello Trixt, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences.
