Hello, Goodness Shamrock!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

I am now proud owner of a TUSC account!

Hi! Do you know for sure that Arent van 's-Gravesande was the architect of this gate? When I wrote the article about the Doelenpoort, I somewhere read that it was one Arent Arentszoon from the city of 's-Gravezande who designed it; it seems to be about the same person, but do you know for sure? Groet, Tubantia (talk) 20:52, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'm using the "Architectuur & monumentengids Leiden" as a source here and I'm pretty confident that the gate is indeed designed by Arent van 's-Gravesande. The town hall in Middelharnis was also built after his designs, like you mentioned. (quoting the "kunstreisboek" now). So no doubt Arent Arentszoon and Arent van 's-Gravesande are one and the same. (If you were wondering why I added the Burcht to the works of Arent van 's-Gravesande: He was the first to restore the castle in 1651 and he had the entrance gate built.). Thanks for your interest. Wellicht kan e.e.a. aangepast worden in the Doelenpoort article. - Goodness Shamrock (talk) 08:55, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
