What is the point for deleting these if people from other platforms such as social media, endlessly post images of these spots? Deleting these photos will only unsupport our tourism promotion. @Allanjay quesada: (just chimed in) your images (and perhaps thousands of now-deleted ones) might be decent and within scope of showcasing public art. Unfortunately, Republic Act No. 8293 – our copyright law – does not have the so-called freedom of panorama exception that allows the free shooting of public artworks and unrestricted publications and sharing of the resulting photos and videos without the need of license from and without the need to pay remuneration to the artists of the public works. As per COM:Licensing, files hosted here must be freely usable by anyone "for any purpose," and that purpose includes commercial use. By principle of copyright, even public artworks owned by the government or the public are not truly 100% public – if the said works are creations by living or recently-deceased architects, sculptors, or muralists (or their heirs if they are already dead), then these public artworks cannot be enjoyed freely by the public (even if government-commissioned, as per COM:COMM Philippines) unless a commercial license from the architects, sculptors, or muralists is secured. The burden of the license requirement is eliminated if the Philippines has the freedom of panorama legal rights for photographers, videographers, and users.
