Pachliopta pictures

[edit]

Hi Bmantha, may I ask why you removed the categories from these 4 files (1, 2, 3, 4) ? Best --LamBoet (talk) 06:17, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear sir
By mistake , I typed file names incorrectly; say all these four belongs to Crimson Rose Pachliopta hector not Common Rose pachliopta aristolochiae. Really I am sorry. I tried to correct the file name but could not do it. I am learning slowly the wiky code language. how to create and change file names . Please help in creating categories and subcategories and mainly how to correct the file names. I am the author for all these pictures with copyrights . Pl., help me. regards
Hi Bmantha, the method to request the renaming of a file is explained in this page: it says that you can select "More → Move" near the top right of the file page, then indicate the new name, and a filemover (like me) will then perform the renaming. Please don't remove the categories though, they were correct as far as I can see (for instance, the files were in Category:Pachliopta hector, which you say is the correct species, so I am not sure why you removed this). I now let you request the renaming; if you need more help, please don't hesitate to ask. Best regards --LamBoet (talk) 03:16, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi sir, Thank you for your immediate response. When I clik the file 1,2,3,4 the file names appeared are Pachliopta aristolochiae, the common rose, which I typed wrongly on original file. The pictures are originally that of Crimson rose Pachliopta hector. What You said is right.. the category.. Let me correct the original file name if possible I am trying Pl give some time. Pl. guide me about making sub categories in categories. In fact I am also a researcher doing work on the butterflies of eastern ghats of Andhra pradesh and visakhapatnam. thank you once again
regards
Hi Bmantha, OK, let's start with the change of filename. When you click on 1,2,3,4 and you get to the file page, can you see the "More" button at the top right of the page, next to the search field? The "More" button opens a small menu where you can find the "Move" or "Rename" function. Then this opens a form where you can write the new filename and make the request. Please try doing this and tell me if it works. If it doesn't work, I will take care of renaming your files myself. --LamBoet (talk) 21:43, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sir. My sincere apologies to you again. While Uploading pictures of lepidopteran butterflies, not knowing the full formalities I requested my student Mramam to upload few, while doing he wrongly mentioned the file names. I have uploaded more than 200 pictures. Now I am correcting it through him. I assure you this will not be repeated please. I myself try first then I request you again sir. Pl. excuse me for this mistake. It is a research topic infact and I am a Professor and research director working on the Butterflies of Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh, India. anticipating your postive response, help and encouragement as you are extending. thank you sir
regards
Hi @Bmantha: and @Mramam: it's OK, don't worry, you don't need to apologize. As you see, mistakes can easily be corrected. I see that your files have been renamed. I am also restoring their categories: if you have questions about this, don't hesitate to ask. PS. When you write a message, don't forget to sign it by typing four tilde characters (or by clicking on the signature button as explained here). Best regards --LamBoet (talk) 18:24, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
