--Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 08:22, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

Hasive bedoel je? Zijn ban heeft al 4 tegenstanders tegenover 1 steunstem. Lijkt me niet dat die ban doorgaat. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 10:27, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
Wie? --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 11:04, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

--Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 13:19, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

@Donald Trung: Afbeeldingen van politici? Waar doel je op? Jimbo heeft trouwens een uitgesproken mening over betaalde editors: User:Jimbo Wales/Paid Advocacy FAQ. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 13:26, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
--Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 13:36, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

The youtube source clip is free from Google archive but it is only 2 minutes and 7 seconds. The uploaded Commons video clip is 2 minutes 30 seconds and is from another source. They show different women too. I cannot review this image. Suggest you upload the correct video from the source. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:44, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

@Leoboudv: you are absolutely correct, I apologize! The video2commons tool failed on this video so I had to upload it by hand and copy pasted the description from another video. The archive.org link was correct, but the live Youtube link was still the one from the video of which I copied the description. Entirely my fault. I corrected the source link. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 06:13, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
  •  Comment: I will be signing out in 30 minutes for bed soon. Feel free to ask another reviewer such as Roy H, GRuban, etc to use Cacheview to confirm the images you uploaded from DWDD are CC BY 3.0 and review them. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:12, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
@Leoboudv: I just finished uploading. The "try Google cache" link should have the same effect as cachedview, btw. Thank you again for your amazing work. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 08:19, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

I managed to review all the last DWDD images you uploaded. Finished at 2:01/2:02 AM Tuesday morning. I was really tired.

PS: This note by me to Natuur's comments is one reason why it may be safer Not to be an Admin sadly. We are all Unpaid Volunteers here. Some Admins and License reviewers lose their rights due to lack of activity....but most people have to work to pay the bills. I have a real job to do too which is why I don't want top be an Admin too. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 02:05, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

@Leoboudv: License reviewers don't lose their rights. I know a license reviewer who has never reviewed a single file. None! In fact he doesn't even know what a license reviewer is. You and Natuur12 have nothing to worry about when it comes to activity. As for adminship, there are quite some downsides. There is some legal risk and admins have to deal more often with angry users. I'm not planning on adminship either. There is so much to do without being an admin. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 08:19, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
  • I know there was a proposal to strip away license review rights from license reviewers who don't review X number of images after X months or X years...but I don't know whatever came of that proposal. I don't know why but I notice many reviewers get this right and then don't use it...perhaps because they have their work obligations. By the Way, the most rewarding DWDD video file to review/pass was this one File:Ode aan Dolores O'Riordan.webm on the late Dolores O'Riordan who died in January 2018. I guess I'm biased but I liked her 1990's music with the The Cranberries such as 'Linger' which she sang. Thanks for uploading that clip. Unfortunately she drowned and died like Whitney Houston in a bathtub sadly but such is life. How sad that life repeats itself here to such good singers. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 09:46, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
I liked her music too. Heck, still do.. Incredibly sad, indeed. Makes you feel powerless. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 23:57, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

Hello.
Revision of Commons:Help_desk – too hostile summary. This is very likely a person from a poverty-stricken region in India, and the user may also have a poor command of English. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 20:28, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

@Incnis Mrsi: either that, or a troll/scammer. I found the "intimate student" amusing though. In addition, I had left a message on their talk page. Whatever their motivation, they should take it elsewhere. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 22:00, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

@Leoboudv: for "Chunk 6, less hurry" there is a copy at archive.org and/or a review available onwiki. I see the search link was broken, I fixed it. As you can now see, there is both File:Jeroen Kampschreur (2018).jpg and File:Bibian Mentel (2018).jpg taken from the very same clip, reviewed by you. So you have actually seen the license. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 00:01, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
@Leoboudv:
The screenshot, however, was taken from a different video. There is no shot of Ruben from this particular angle in the video. I'll go find the right video for the screenshot. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 00:46, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
Found it. Can you review File:TV-Serie 'Door het hart van China' - Ruben Terlou.webm? I'll replace the source for the screenshot with the correct one. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 00:50, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Dear Alexis Jazz, I tried to listen to this file. Do I miss the sound because my speakers are broke? Vysotsky (talk) 22:21, 7 February 2019 (UTC)

Jcb (talk) 23:14, 7 February 2019 (UTC)

- Alexis Jazz ping plz 23:24, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Ik kom ze vanzelf tegen, ik ben bezig met mijn wekelijkse rondje door Category:Files with no machine-readable license. Jcb (talk) 23:25, 7 February 2019 (UTC)

--Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 00:20, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Your hotcat

Hi Alexis, thank you for your categorizing into Fake SVG with raster version available. Because it seems to me better, I expanded the Template:Image generation that it categorizes automatically if the parameters "\" and "!=f" are set. At the moment that is done only in the sandbox, and it is verified at File:Cbq82-creqx.svg. If you have more suggestions for expansions, please let me know! Kind regards -- sarang사랑 13:01, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

@Sarang: good idea. I converted some files for JoKalliauer and wanted more of an overview of which files had to be converted and which ones were already processed. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 15:06, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

I saw you extracted the png. I would use PNGOUT to minimize the png-filesize, this removes sometimes also problems. In extrem cases: File:Screenshot_PNGOUT.PNG#filehistory you can reduce the filesize to below 0.2% !

 — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 17:38, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

@JoKalliauer: any reason why PNGOUT should be used over pngcrush? - Alexis Jazz ping plz 19:31, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
I don't know the differences between png-optimizers, I don't even know the difference between zip/rar/pdf/png/... compression. I just noticed that File:Anatomy_of_the_Human_Ear_eu.png#filehistory was rendered incorreclty. (also in my browser) I don't know why.  — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 21:24, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
@JoKalliauer: it rendered correctly on my computer (which is why I hadn't spotted it), but indeed it does not in the browser. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 22:28, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
I just googled for a benchmark: https://css-ig.net/png-tools-overview#overview There you see differences in file size & cpu-time.  — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 16:42, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

File captions

--Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 07:48, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

- Alexis Jazz ping plz 10:19, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

Deletions for files like these really shouldn't happen under the radar like this.

Was it wrong to mark it with {{No source since}}? Would a deletion-Request would be better?
In my opinion tagging a image as {{Own}} is a copyright infrigment. Even if it wouldn't be a copyright infrigment: Tagging images with {{Own}} is something difficult to prof. I am cooperative if someone forgot to add the source, added a wrong source, whatsoever. But claming images as {{Own}}, is something I do not tollerate.
I am shure you have a better knowledge then me and you can clarify things to me.
 — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 17:04, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

@JoKalliauer: the uploader presumably did put the tools over the flower. Still a derivative work, but not unacceptable as an "own work" claim. Source images should have been indicated though. Problem in this case was, that file was in use on mw:Project:Bureaucrats and mw:Template:User bureaucrat MediaWiki.org. "No source" allows for deletions "under the radar". They often get executed bot-like. That's fine for obvious derivative works that were just uploaded yesterday and cause no real damage if deleted. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 18:20, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
