-- Duesentrieb 14:27, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Gescannte Bilder[edit]

-- Duesentrieb 16:43, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

question[edit]

could You tell me what is on the opposite side of that cross with st. christopher? or maybe there is a date of it's creation on the front[the image is too small to read it...i aks because i found similar cross when i was digging in my garden 10 years ago...my cross was made in England [i think so, because most words on it are in english...there are also words "ja pro foru" placed on the backside - i'm trying to find the meaning of them and the cration date-mine is too old too see it]...my cross it pure silver, and Yours? I'm very interested in history and relics, if you can send me an image of the backside of Your cross] marcobolo@o2.pl

hi marcobolo, i had to search the cross again, it was deep into my "left-over box" ;), so here it is. on the other side, there is on the top end of the cross the phrase "JESUS - MARY AND - JOSEPH", on the left hand side of the vertical bar there is a womans face with halo, must be mary, on the right side, there is a face of a man with halo, must be joseph, and standing in the middle from the bottom end almost to the middle of the cross there is a child jesus with a long crosslike stick in his left hand and raising his right hand with two finges (as usual). and on to his right there is a vertical "PRAY" andon his left site a vertical "FOR US". i will do a scan of it tomorrow when i will have instaled my scanner again and send you an image. i can not found your mentioned "ja pro foru" and the only thing that is on the christophers site is a smal "italy". i hope i do not disapoint you but my cross ist just a talisman made of "worthless material", at least it is no silver an i get it of my old school priest before we left to walk the "jakobsweg" ("camino de santiago de compostella") so it cant be as worthy, because everyone of us got one. for me, it has a sentiamental value, so i kept it and somehow it worked well ;). if i schould gess it is steelaloy, a mass product. i will send you an email tomorrow, okay? greets,--Andreas -horn- Hornig 22:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gartenkreuzspinnenweibchenbild[edit]

Resolution Chart[edit]

Herr Hornig, Are you the original creator of the image resolution chart? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Resolution_chart.svg

I have some questions about this chart, and the description... "It does not accuratly reflect the screen shape (aspect ratio) of these formats, which is always stretched or squeezed to 4:3 or 16:9. The table assumes an average vertical detail loss of .75x due to interlace. The actual loss is variable due to content, motion, opinion on acceptable levels of flicker, and possible success of deinterlacing. 1920x1080i is not included because all common use of 1080i is filtered to 1440 or less."

I don't understand why interlace artifacts are discussed or factored in to this chart. It would seem to be better to reference this as a separate discussion. The resolution of HDTV is identical for interlaced or progressive scan formats for the same signal type (1920x1080 or 1280x720).

I don't understand the justification for the statement "all common use of 1080i is filtered to 1440 or less". 1080i is defined by SMPTE 274M, and is broadcast in the US using ATSC. Neither of these specifications filter the horizontal resolution to 1440. Most of the broadcast 1080i material is shot and edited with full 1920x1080 resolution equipment.

You can find me here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Tvaughan1

Vielen Danke

Thank you for your answer on my talk page. I'll contact the authors of the chart. I am actually in between jobs right now, but I am fairly familiar with Blu-Ray Disc and HD DVD specifications. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

All the best.

Tom Vaughan

While I did create the SVG version, it's basically a straight copy that I redrew myself from the source PNG; I cannot make any claims as to its accuracy. (For what it's worth, I made the SVG version of the graphic because I wanted to learn more about creating SVG images and it was the first image I stumbled onto that had a request to redraw as a SVG.)
I'd be quite willing to redraw the image once the issues with the information it provides are cleared up. Finally, I suggest that any further dicussion of the image take place on its talk page. – Swid (talk | edits) 20:22, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I nominated this image as a featured picture on the English-language wikipedia.

You can see the nomination here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_picture_candidates/DLP_rainbow_effect

It seems that people like the image, but are bothered that the projector and table are out of focus. I think if you produced a slightly improved version of this image it could win "featured picture" status. —Dgies
