Duplicate images[edit]

There is no need to nominate duplicate images for deletion. U can add {{Duplicate}} for requesting speedy deletion. Thank you --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 06:18, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) First of all, Tiven2240 shouldn’t speak l33t – a list of English personal pronouns (with their spelling) can be found at wikt:Category:English personal pronouns or w:Template:Personal pronouns. Secondly, which namely exact or scaled-down duplicates were nominated for regular deletion? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 20:22, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi @Incnis Mrsi: please have a look at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Postal Stamp on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Constitution of India (2015).jpg, Commons:Deletion requests/File:Gate of Vipassana Buddha Vihar and Aurangabad caves, and Ambedkar statue.jpg and others at the user's contribution. Even I see there is misuse of deletion templates in the contribution for which the user had block on local wiki. Thanking you --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ
Gate of Vipassana Buddha Vihar and Aurangabad caves, and Ambedkar statue.jpg
Gate of Vipassana Buddha Vihar and Aurangabad caves.jpg
No, there is nothing wrong in nominating the upper image for regular deletion due to perceived redundancy. Speedy deletion is not applicable here, and rather I see harassment of a user who makes some useful cleanup job for our site. People promulgating invalid use of {{Duplicate}}—such as this IP—should be sanctioned themselves. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 07:42, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
I don't find any harassment for QEF from my side. I have always being guiding him. The above message was of old (7dec) and was in other image discussion and QEF had used {{Duplicate}} after that‘’. I think @Incnis Mrsi: you are misguided somewhere. These deletion requests are new which I didn't oppose at all nor advised the user for SD. I am aware of them. Thanking you. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 08:50, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
I came here only because of a noticeboard message by the IP. On assessment I learned that no valid CSD#F8 pretexts are visible (File:Postal Stamp on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Constitution of India (2015).jpg (histlogsabuse log) could be one, but it’s already deleted), and certainly the use of {{duplicate}} on such cases as Gate of Vipassana Buddha Vihar and Aurangabad caves would be a blatant abuse of the speedy process. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 12:35, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

ːːːːːːː@Incnis Mrsi: Thanks, I am still new to processes and functions of commons as you can see it from my editing history. So I know there might be some miss understandings and some mistakes, but why I did it has a long history and some intentions.

  • I have been working on mrwiki to cleanup copyvio, infact I was the one who started it. while doing it lately I realized that even visuals on mrwiki have backlog in this regard.
  • Even on enwiki, you will find my edits around improving refs and cleaning copyvio only.
  • So I am here and learning/unlearning all the modalities to deal with copyvio here on commons.
  • With copyvio, I learned that excess/duplicate/repetitions must be avoided to save the memory space and editing activity spent on those. So I tagged those images for deletion via csd. Now I understood that there is a different way to deal with those images and what is real duplicate.
  • In addition, as tiven2240 mentioned about me getting blocked by him for two hours and that too for me tagging English titles on mrwiki. As I assumed and everyone on mrwiki assumed that marathi wiki should have all the names of pages in Marathi/devnagari script and For that tiven2240 blocked me, So you can know how justifiable it was and what is the level of tiven2240's maturity! And mrwiki community has given the justice by not continuing the adminship for tiven for such and many other similar decisions only.

̽* Second thing संदेश हिवाळे is already blocked on enwiki for copyvio and vandal, sockpuppetery on hiwiki he has long history of blocks.

  • I had to bring this here, as I was framed as vandal by tiven2240, but these are my intentions and this is how I look at my edits including my mistakes. And I am always ready to learn. So my method/modalities/few edits might be wrong, But I don't think why I did was wrong by anyway.
  • I would love to know, what exactly went wrong and how I can omit such mistakes if there were any, thanks QueerEcofeminist (talk) 15:33, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

stop patronizing and vandalizing my talk page[edit]

@Tiven2240: Please stop pasting unnecessary templates to my user talk page. Neither I am doing anything which is wrong nor I am accusing you which you haven't done, everything here is backed up with diffs and valid histories. So chill and stop all your patronizing activities. Better you improve and come out other such activities or else you will lose what you have on other sites as you have lost on mrwiki. File:Inaguration of workshop.jpg[edit]

File:Inaguration of workshop.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Welcome, Dear Patroller![edit]

Hi QueerEcofeminist,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

File deletion request[edit]

Hi, I saw your profile on common deletion request for 5/28/2019. I tried requesting for deletion of the images on the page too, but it didn't work out well so I reverted my changes. Is it okay if you can delete the ff images? These are sourced from a government website that had conflicting public domain and copyright notices, so to be safe I go for deletion. Thanks. Reply on image deletion tag[edit]

I saw notices on my talk page regarding possible copy-vio for the following three files.

As you may notice, I have mentioned in all three files that the pages are scans of public domain texts. The respective authors are mentioned on the file page and all of those died before 1958 (hence public domain as per Copyright Act, India).

Please clarify if anything else needs to be added, and feel free make necessary changes if needed.

[I may not notice your reply here; leave a note on my talk page]

Re: Photos of people in India[edit]

Thank you for going through low quality uploads. I think we have a severe shortage of photos illustrating (real) life in India, so I'm a bit concerned about some of the speedy deletions you proposed for supposed "personal photos", in particular these three: [1]. I think a better solution in such cases is to find an appropriate category, and only delete those which are effectively redundant. Headshots are indeed often hard to justify. Nemo 19:24, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

@Nemo bis:, thanks for pointing it out, please correct me if I am wrong in marking those photos for deletions, as I have been proposing such DR's and Speedies in hundreds. Here it was small difference where these images were brought to commons from flicker and my earlier similar DR's were of photos uploaded by users themselves. But photos are of similar kind. 1) To give some recent examples, which may seem to us of dipictions of public/pvt life of Indian humans, but in reality those are their personal photos and they are clearly using commons and even other projects as webhosts. 2) my second concern is most of the photos I marked for deletion were depicting women, though there are no less restrictions on personality rights, I try and take care of actually looking for photos which might create troubles to women/girls if they are on publicly accessed sites like commons. Additionally here we had women with their intimate partners and with names like File:You_got_any_explanation_honey_-_Flickr_-_Dr._Santulan_Mahanta.jpg 3) I am failing to understand how similar photos uploaded by users themselves and brought here from flicker get different treatment? or something here I am missing? I am relatively new so please educate me if I am completely wrong. I am just voicing why I proposed those DR's. thanks QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! Your request for LR[edit]

Hello QueerEcofeminist,

I am sad to read that you felt demotivated by what appears to be an aggression towards you especially from non-LR. I am sorry that you felt this way. I often see you as a very clueful editor who genuinely wanted to help with clearing the backlog. Please do not be demoralized and I'd be happy to support your future request when you gain more experience on COM:L. If you need any help, please do not hesitate to ask on my talk. Regards. Deletion Request AKMaier[edit]

Please explain the out-of-scope for my user page. I am new to this platform. I’d be happy to follow your advice. AKMaier (talk) 12:37, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

AKMaier I have closed the debate as no valid reason for deletion. If you are interested in reading about this project scope, see COM:SCOPE. Regards. T CellsTalk 14:38, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
@AKMaier:, @T Cells:, I marked it for deletion because of these reasons, a) The user has no other contributions than this userpage on any other wikiproject. b) content mentions that the text is their own. c) It fits in [2]. d) Probably they want to educate others with their write up. which is not scope of commons as it's not a encyclopedia under COM:HOST, COM:NOTWP. I think my nomination was right. If you still feel otherwise let me know. QueerEcofeminist "cite! even if you fight"!!! [they/them/their] 16:49, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
The contents on their user page are contents that are realistically useful for educational purpose. The user uploaded the files here on Commons, use them on their user page with some information. What is the problem with that? Unless, you can provide evidence that the files are not useful for educational purpose, they are in scope and policy allow the use of images that are in scope on user pages. Please let's assume good faith towards new users who appears to be genuinely here to contribute useful contents for educational purpose. Regards. T CellsTalk 18:24, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Addendum; May I request that you refrain from nominating user pages for deletion as a first line of action? Please consider discussing with them on their respective user talk page and explain the reason(s) why such contents are not allowed. If they disagree, then you may propose it for deletion. Does this make sense to you? T CellsTalk 18:42, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Important message for file movers[edit]

Commons File mover.svg

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
