Hello, Susomoinhos!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Hi! I created the Commons:WikiProject Romania as a sister project to the multilingual WP:ROMANIA versions (currently en, fr, ro and ru) to better organize, categorize and improve the quality of media and galleries related to Romania and the Romanians. From your contributions, I think you might be interested and maybe you wish to join and support the project. Your input is welcomed! Thanks and best regards!

Hi Susomoinhos, do you really have all rights for the portrait image on this poster? Who is the photographer? --Túrelio (talk) 06:18, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Turélio, and thanks for your attention. Well, since the poster is in a public place, why not?
Hi, to be eligible for the freedom-of-panorama exemption (to which you are refering), the original work needs to be permanently installed in the public, such as this one, which is surely not the case with a current poster. Do you want to request it for deletion by yourself, to avoid having a copyvio in your log? --Túrelio (talk) 07:50, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Túrelio. I'm sorry, I thought that since it was taken in Spain, the freedom-of-panorama exception would work accordin to Spanish law: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_panorama

It does, but even Spanish FOP requires permanent installation of the original work; see here. --Túrelio (talk) 15:16, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Túrelio. Well, it's a pity. So what about all those posters? http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Posters?uselang=de Yesterday I asked permission to the Foundation Valentín Paz-Andrade to publish some images of the writer in Wikimedia Commons, but they didn't answer already.

File:Cartaz palestra UB. Afisho de prelego en la Universitato de Barcelono.png had already been deleted by a colleague. Are there more poster like that one? --Túrelio (talk) 15:29, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Commons is full of posters.

Santiago Padrós

[edit]

Ola Suso.

A obra, segundo a lexislación española, pasará a dominio público após 80 anos do pasamento do autor.

Un saúdo e a seguir. --. HombreDHojalata.talk 09:23, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Gotoo Hitosi.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Gotoo Hitosi.png) and the above demanded information in your request.

Oh, it has to be a mistake. I have a lot of pictures in my archive, both made by me and from different sources. Efectively, it seems to come from that video, yes. Please delete it.

Why did you delete it without asking me, as Wikipedia says is has to be done?

The above message, in the colored box, is the warning that this file might get deleted. The admin @Yann: probably deleted it earlier has it seem there is a pattern of abuse (wrong public domain releases in the US for work from France, uploads of protected book covers, etc.). I hereby ask you again to read COM:Licensing and to take copyright matters seriously. This could harm Wikimedia. --Scoopfinder(d) 19:40, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you respect the principle of consensus? Why you choose to delete the pics you consider without dialoging with the person that uploaded them? Do you ever think that there was no intention to harm Wikipedia? When I first wanted to solve the problems with the picture "Benoît Philippe, verkisto", I couldn't, simply because Yann decided to eliminate it. That is not a nice way to work. It would be better to inform that person and to try to solve the problems in an assertive way. Susomoinhos (talk) 20:07, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In the Wikipedia in Esperanto there are a lot of book covers published under the so-called "justa uzo" (fair use). Do you think I could republish the cover of Kvazaŭ varfo under the fair use as well? Thanks.

Susomoinhos (talk) 20:32, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! If you read COM:Licensing like I asked you several times today, you will see in the first lines "Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use justifications" with a link to COM:Fair use. Since you seem not incline to read the documentation I provide, I do not see how I could help you any further and will remove your talk page from my watchlist because it feels like I am wasting my time. Regards, --Scoopfinder(d) 21:02, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are free for remove me from your watchlist, of course. But first of all, try to be kind and patient, two virtues you should have to deal with persons in any context. Being rude is not a nice way to speak with anyone. I am not an expert in Wikipedia. And I came to Wikipedia to contribute, not to harm the project. If I make mistakes, it is normal, because mistakes are part of the all the processes of learning. Please think about that. Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Susomoinhos (talk • contribs) 21:17, 02 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Susomoinhos.

You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful.

This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions.
