Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and or licensing of this particular file. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. --Yes, the problem was I could not seem to be ableto specify the licence after uploading the image. (tried hard)
The image is mine and I am donating it to the public domain.

Hi, you said in this description that it was created by Gibralter News. I am wondering if you, yourself, are the photographer ? If so, you need to state that on the description page. Dowew 11:10, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
All photographs I have uploaded were copyright gibnews.net and were taken by myself, however my preference is to attribute them to the organisation rather than my real name.
How one changes the status to PD if its not entered when uploading remains a mystery --Gibnews 23:51, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Ape al.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ape al.jpg. This image is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS.
Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. GeorgHH 13:19, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Screenshots and other media from www.gibnews.net
I noticed your comment on User:Drini's talk page. Note that Wikimedia Commons is for freely licensed media. We do not accept screenshots, logos, or any other media used under fair use. Depending on what Wikimedia project you intend to you use the media on, they may or may not accept fair use (see m:Fair use for a list of projects).
Also note that images uploaded from http://www.gibnews.net/ are (in their current form) unacceptable. If you are in a management position within gibnews and want to donate your media to Commons, you must either indicate the license (for acceptable licenses on Commons, see Commons:Licensing) on http://www.gibnews.net/ or you must e-mail the Wikimedia Foundation at permissions-commons AT wikimedia DOT org
.
If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them here. --Iamunknown 03:02, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Any images that I have uploaded and designated public domain are donated for that purpose. Sometimes I have missed adding the licence because the system does not explicitly require it and I'm not careful enough. For the avoidance of doubt I own Gibnews.net its related domains, and all intellectual property that goes with it. Screenshots are not used on Gibnews.net - MoD pictures are crown copyright supplied for single use there. Terms and conditions of the site on [1] --Gibnews 02:26, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. Fair use is NOT allowed on commons. In this case, the one that needs to give permission is the show's producer, not the site webnaster. Once you've gotten the permission, they will need to email permissions@wikimedia.org confirming the permission. -- Drini 03:06, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- In the case of that particular image, I have contacted the rights holder but have yet to get a reply. Under current (2004) Gibraltar copyright law it would be OK, however I appreciate that may not be the case elsewhere. --Gibnews 02:26, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Ib_gib.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ib_gib.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. The image has been re-instated. I believe it was correctly tagged. --Gibnews 12:01, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. --- I trust that resolves the matter. --Gibnews 08:04, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
The image is obsolete and can be deleted. --Gibnews 14:49, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:P3 ref06.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. |
As you have recently uploaded [[:Image:Gib yes.jpg which is a duplicate of this image. --Gibmetal 77talk 21:00, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, apparently it cannot be deleted as it is not an exact duplicate.
- May I suggest you nominate it yourself as the author, if you see this fit of course. Regards. --Gibmetal 77talk 16:37, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- I am confused, the other image does not seem to exist, and this one looks OK. --Gibnews (talk) 21:58, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry I messed up the link last time. This is a cropped version you uploaded more recently. If you're OK with itnominate the original for deletion. --Gibmetal 77talk 08:12, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:55, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
