Hej Grillo.

I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby publish it under the following license:
GNU head Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify this document under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 or any later version published by the Free Software Foundation; with no Invariant Sections, no Front-Cover Texts, and no Back-Cover Texts. A copy of the license is included in the section entitled GNU Free Documentation License.

Vänliga Hälsningar.

Did Mr Arpadi agree to this image being put under CC? Regards, David.Monniaux 12:07, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't ask me, ask the one who uploaded it to English Wikipedia, which I provided as the source. /Grillo 17:33, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Deleted as copyvio, following emails to the photographer. The authorization was fake. David.Monniaux 00:18, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your message[edit]

I've answered your message by email. Basically: please mind your own business, and read carefully what I wrote. David.Monniaux 23:57, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Answer[edit]

I know what GFDL and CC-BY-SA say, and, contrary to what you pretend, I do not demand payment for my GFDL or CC-BY-SA images. It is not my problem if you don't understand English correctly, and I strongly advise you to stop harassing other users because you don't.

I'll reexplain what I told you in the email that you apparently haven't read.

Here's what happens: some commercial publishers have emailed me asking that I give them explicit permission for my photographs. That is, they are not happy with the CC or GFDL license (perhaps of some of the obligations involved) and they ask me to give them a specific permission (writing "I authorize <publisher foobar> to publish bla bla").

Instead of having a lawyer read the GFDL or CC licenses, they essentially ask me to explain them their rights, and give them an additional legal insurance. Basically, they ask me a supplemental service: they could use the image for free, but they ask me to write them a specific email saying they can do so.

I consider this a service that I can perform, but only for a fee. I don't wish to work for free for the legal department of a commercial publisher. David.Monniaux 06:55, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great, that wasn't that hard right? Why was it more important to remove the question form your talk page than answering the simple question that apparantly had an easy answer? And no reason to go to personal attacks. And sorry, I didn't get any email cause I forgot to change my email address on Commons when I switched mail. And I understand English just fine, I think personally that you should clarify the note on your user page. /Grillo 10:46, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you are a busybody. What is on my user page is clear enough, and you have no business in dealing with it. David.Monniaux 12:08, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please accept apologies. I went a bit overboard.. But you apparently hadn't paid attention to my email, which I considered rude. Also, I'm of the opinion that user pages are personal in the sense that as long as what they carry is not adverse to Wikipedia's goals (for instance, promoting partisanship in articles, or deliberately making bad publicity, etc.), users should be free to write what they wish without others meddling. David.Monniaux 12:59, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, no offence taken and hopefully none given. The reason I didn't see your mail was that I simply don't use that email address anymore, sorry about that, I've changed it in the settings now. I understand now why you choose to do as you do. /Grillo 15:20, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Licenstaggar[edit]

/Grillo 21:08, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mustasch_kb_malmö.jpg. This image is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org).

Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. Cecil 01:06, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bah, the quality is stupid anyway. If you don't believe my word, delete the stupid picture. Commons is getting out of hand if trusted old contributors can't be trusted in copyright questions. Hell, you could delete all the images I've ever uploaded, because why would you believe my word that it was I who took the photos? If I lie about my friend giving GFDL permission, why would I not lie about all the other images I've uploaded? /Grillo 23:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]

Hello, Grillo!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Filbot[edit]

Sorry, but I was really busy and I can answer you only now. Your idea could be fine, but it's a bit difficult to be done in reality. Also because the bot should check if the text in permission can be a valid license and it's not that easy. I think that a manual check is really better and that should avoid problems. --Filnik\b[Rr]ock\b!? 13:40, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
