Hello, MiguelHermoso!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Nice images, thanks for that. But - please tell me, you will give some more informations than actually given. Without things like dates and descriptions the images are not really usable. Marcus Cyron (talk) 11:50, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Autopatrol given[edit]

Commons Autopatrolled.svg

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically sighted. This will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to help users watching Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones. Thank you.. Wiki Loves Monuments Spain 2016 is coming!

Dear MiguelHermoso,

As every year, Wiki Loves Monuments in Spain, an international photographic contest about cultural heritage in the Spanish territory, will start on next September 1st. On behalf of the Wikipedia community and Wikimedia España (WM-ES), and as a participant in former editions of the event, or in other photographic contests organized by WM-ES, we'd like to encourage you to participate in the 2016 edition. We do know that you've been keen on contributing your work to the free knowledge in the past and therefore believe that you'll be glad to help us again.

We want to inform you about a substantial change in the rules of the contest: this year only images of monuments or municipalities without previous photograph in Wikimedia Commons are accepted. To facilitate hunting monuments and municipalities without a free image, we have prepared a set of specific lists, which can be checked in the contest websites: wikilov.es/monuments or wikilm.es

If you have comments, questions or suggestions about the contest, they are more than welcome. You can leave them here.

We look forward to your free images!

Sincerely,
The team of Wiki Loves Monuments edition in Spain

Museo de Historia de Madrid[edit]

Buenas, MiguelHermoso. Saludos--Zumalabe (talk) 19:09, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Provenance question[edit]

File:Léon Delafosse Seattle 02.JPG: no doubt that the image is OK (the painting is public domain) but you say you photographed this at the Seattle Art Museum in 2014. That seems impossible to me. The painting is normally in the Brooklyn Museum; it was on temporary exhibit for a Sargent show in Seattle in 2010. Can you explain? - Jmabel ! talk 16:35, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

  • Vd. me dio las gracias, pero no ha respondido. - Jmabel ! talk 19:17, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
