jpg[edit]

Hello, I notice you have achieved a lot of work as [1]. However, you should have known that especified or recommended wiki format for flags and blazons is png or, the better one, svg. This could be a problem as if anyone creates the same model but as svg, your work will be then superseded. On the other hand, you neither referred your models to any source, so in that way, the images cannot be used on the body of wiki articles. Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Escudo_Pincipe_Asturias_(1388-1516).png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Fuentes[edit]

Hello,

I already left you a message last night on Image talk:Grand Duke of Luxembourg Standard.png but I just took a closer look at your contributions and now realise this problem is not limited to this one image. I'll try to explain some more.

When you use someone else's image as the basis for your own image (essentially a modification of the original editor's image) you have to abide by the author's licence. In many cases that means you have to abide by some form of Creative Commons (CC) licence. The first image I contacted you about was based on the work of Spanish Inquisition Image:Coat of arms Henri I of Luxembourg small.png, this image is licenced CC-BY-SA. That means you can share (copy, distribute, transmit) the image, you can remix (adapt, alter) the image, but to do any of this you also have to abide by the licence requisites, in this case these are attribution (usually a link to the original image is sufficient, though the licence per se is stricter) and share alike (if you change the image you have to use an identical or compatible licence (I just looked at 2 but that list must be incorrect as it gives only CC-BY-SA as compatible with CC-BY-SA, but in any case, PD is not compatible as it breaks the chain of attribution)). In the case of Spanish Inquisition's image you did not abide by either of the required elements, with other images I notice you did attribute appropriately but did not licence appropriately. You always have to look at the licences of images you use, some might even be entirely incompatible (any with ND, which means no derivatives, though I expect those might be incompatible with commons), others you can use freely because they were placed in the public domain. It takes some time getting used to this but I'm sure you can do it.

Here are some essential links here on commons for more information: Commons:Licensing and Commons talk:Licensing. At the second link you can ask questions about your current way of licencing, most users there have more indept knowledge of this subject than I do (but I know the domaine of coats of arms and related legislation rather well, also I do recognise many heraldic charges used here on commons and who authored them, which was why I knew right away the G-D of Luxembourg Standard was not your original work...). So if you have any questions, aks me or go ask someone there.--Caranorn (talk) 12:45, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hello, Buho07~commonswiki!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Moravian eagle in the Crown of Bohemia CoA is wrongly coloured[edit]

Proper traditional colours of Moravian eagle are red & silver/white (and the eagle lies on blue shield). Red-golden checking – as it is presented in your version – was officially, i.e. by Austro-Hungarian authorities – used only for 3 years (1915–18)! (Cf. for example Moravian eagle's colours on Austrian CoA from 18th century with that of 1915.) Although the Diet of Moravia adopted new "enhanced" golden checks as early in 1848, this decision wasn't entered into a permanent validity: in spite of golden-red colours were enforced by the Moravian Germans, Slavonic population (Czechs) predominantly rejected them and further used medieval red-silver checks. Moreover, in 1749 the Crown of Bohemia was de facto dissolved (by abolishing of the Česká dvorská kancelář/Böhmische Hofkanzlei by Maria Theresa) so, strictly speaking, the red-golden checked eagle hardly can be depicted on the Crown's coat of arms...
By the way, you cite this file as your source. Where on that CoA you see golden checks? They are obviously silver! All in all, you have to repair your mistake. --Iaroslavvs (talk) 15:22, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
