Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Explicacions en català

Hola jordiferrer, crec que ens coneixem de la viquipèdia. He vist que quan crees una categoria només hi afegeixes una explicació en anglès. Per què no la fas en català també? Wikimedia Commons està molt anglicitzat però és un contenidor general per a totes les viquipèdies, siguin en la llengua que siguin. I a més, sent tu català no entenc perquè no l'hi poses també, la explicació en català. Simplement és tenir en consideració la nostra llengua, de manera que no m'hagi de relegar a llegir-ho en anglès quan vingui aquí. Per cert, una altra cosa. Acostumat a afegir l'explicació amb la plantilla següent: {{ca|Explicació.}}, per l'anglès {{en|Explanation}} i per la resta de llengües amb el prefix corresponent. No t'ho prenguis malament, només són recomanacions. De totes maneres, endavant! Castells

Ei Jordiferrer! M'agradaria crear una categoria que en català tinc molt clar que s'hauria de dir Category:Escuts de colles castelleres però en anglès no sé com se n'hauria de dir. Potser Category:Coats of arms of colles castelleres?? "Colla" em sembla intraduïble. Com creus que s'hauria de dir la categoria? A, per cert, fixa't que també he creat la Category:Pom de dalt, i amb temps n'aniré creant de les parts del castell. T'ho dic perquè ho sàpigues i perquè a partir d'ara no només categoritzis en funció de la colla de la foto, sinó també en funció del què s'hi veu: tan si és una pinya (només pinya), o es tracta del tronc o del pom de dalt, etc. Ara fa un parell de setmanes que amb uns amics ens hem apuntat als Castellers de Sabadell i ara hi tinc molt més d'interès. :) Moltes gràcies! Pregunta (cultural heritage)

Jo crec que sí que s'hauria de treure, com qualsevol altra categoria redundant. Ara bé, no sé com sentarà això als bots del concurs en català, que a diferència dels concursos estatals depèn de les categories per trobar les imatges. Sobre el bot

El bot comprueba que las imágenes no estén ya en una subcategoría, Añadió Category:Castell de Miralles porque es una categoría nueva y la lista de subcategorías la creé el día 4. Ya había tenido ese problema con otras categorías nuevas y había añadido unas cuantas a mano. ~~Voy a regenerar la lista completa.~~ Regenerada la lista de subcategorías de Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Catalonia -- Platonides (talk) 18:17, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Fira de Barcelona

Compte amb la fira de Barcelona que ara té dos recintes. Un és a Sants-Montjuïc però l'altre és a l'Hospitalet. Aleshores la categoria de la fira i la del districte no poden ser redundants.--Pere prlpz (talk) 15:15, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Podem fer una categoria del recinte o dels edificis del recinte. A la llarga suposo que acabarem tenint les dues. La diferència són unes quantes fotos de fires que no són massa fotos d'edificis. No sé massa quin nom triaria. Guiant-me per la pàgina de la Fira [1] se m'ocorre "Gran Via venue" i "Montjuïc venue" (o "Montjuïc venue of Fira de Barcelona" si vols un títol més explicatiu). "Fira de Barcelona in Montjuïc" i "Fira de Barcelona in Gran Via" (o "in L'Hospitalet") també són una opció.--Pere prlpz (talk) 08:46, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Tallers 11

La veritat és que hauríem de buscar una manera estandarditzada d'anomenar aquesta mena de categories. Davant la manca d'una guia vaig tirar pel dret i vaig anar a la versió més senzilla, sense incloure "Edifici d'habitatges a ..." ni res semblant. El posar desambiguacions no ho acabo de veure clar. De fet, alguns dels reanomenaments que heu estat fent darrerament, amb desambiguacions de l'estil Eixample (Barcelona) o Ciutat Vella (Barcelona) no les veig gaire necessàries si no és que estaven provocant que es classifiquessin imatges erròniament. Crec que Tallers 11 és gairebé tan obscur com Tallers 11 (Barcelona), i dubto que a qualsevol dels dos llocs hi vagi a parar ningú per equivocació. Si volguéssim fer-ho més clar per tothom, més que canviar els noms de les categories, crec que hauríem de començar per traduir les descripcions de categories i fitxers (cosa que jo no estic fent, si més no aquest mes).--Pere prlpz (talk) 16:07, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

És difícil que un nom signifiqui alguna cosa, perquè tot el que cal per significar no sol cabre al nom. M'invento un exemple: "Xssrarkdsj (Cantonese XVII century onion and chicken soup)" pot tenir un significat, però "Xssrarkdsj (soup)", "Xssrarkdsj (Canton)", "Xssrarkdsj (onion and chicken)" o "Xssrarkdsj (17th century)" no en tenen massa significat per algú que no conegui el tema. Aleshores, tampoc veig que "Tallers 11 (Barcelona) informi gaire. Sí que informaria "Apartment building in 11th Tallers street (Barcelona)" o una cosa semblant, però ho veig molt poc pràctic. De fet, si algú arriba a la categoria Tallers 11 sense buscar-la, serà des d'una categoria on estigui continguda o des d'una imatge que hi sigui, i ja sabrà de què va.

Replying to your question at User talk:84user#Rotate needed ? Please see Commons:Village pump#Autorotation using EXIF tag with MW 1.18. At the end of "Single cases" I asked whether {{Rotate}} is the best way to fix the problem images. Hola, la política de noms de Commons es esta, on es diu que les categories s'han de nomenar en anglès preferentment. Sobre el Saló de Getxo et vaig contestar a la discussió, només és que no conec el nom correcte i preferisc no inventar-m'ho. Lobo (howl?) 01:04, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Re:Quality image

Les quality images són imatges molt bones tècnicament sense gaires mèrits més. Per les imatges de monuments fetes amb mitjans corrents crec que és molt més fàcil promoure-les a valued images. Fa temps, jo en vaig promoure un parell, que tampoc eren gran cosa, i van passar sense problemes, perquè només cal que sigui la millor (probablement la més útil) de les del mateix monument, o d'un aspecte del monument. L'única cosa que porta una mica de feina és que s'han de geolocalitzar abans de presentar-les.--Pere prlpz (talk) 14:06, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Suggereixo començar amb algun monument del que no hi hagi gaires imatges, o no gaires de representatives. Trobar la imatge més representativa de la façana de la passió o de les voltes de la Sagrada Família pot ser complicat.--Pere prlpz (talk) 22:26, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

El priorat de Santa Maria no és l'únic priorat del món dedicat a Santa Maria, ara bé:

La gran majoria de priorats del món són fora del nostre àmbit, pel que no duran un nom en català i no es poden confondre amb aquest.
L'altre priorat català notable dedicat a Santa Maria és el de Serrabona, però a diferència d'aquest aquell no l'he trobat enlloc anomenat com a "priorat de Santa Maria" a seques, de manera que no hi ha confusió possible. A més, la categoria ja existeix i té un nom diferent.

Aleshores, jo crec que no cal posar la desambiguació al nom. Com a molt, hi posaria una nota de desambiguació per si algú es despista.--Pere prlpz (talk) 11:18, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
