Hello my friend,
About this modification: mk= parameter is not needed anymore in {{VN}}.
{{VN}} is now capable to take the information from Wikidata.
I saw that you added mk in wikidata also.
This is really a good thing. Sadly very few of our taxon categories are linked to wikidata.
Are you familiar to wikidata ? Did you see how {{VN}} can help connect wikidata to wikicommons ?
I tried to document wikidata for wikicommon's biologists here: User:Liné1/sandbox2.
But my doc is not yet good enough.

Motd/2018-05-11 (mk)[edit]

Hello, there is a valid concern about The Boy in the Plastic Bubble being PD. I have replaced it with the safer The Man with the Golden Arm. Could you please kindly change your caption accordingly ? Thanks, — Racconish 11:25, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Racconish: Absolutely. It seemed a bit problematic to me too. I'll change it right away. By the way, why is The Man With the Golden Arm considered PD? It doesn't seem that old, although I'm probably missing something. Cheers. B. Jankuloski (talk) 11:35, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The related NYT article mentions `unknown reasons', likely with the copyright renewal. — Racconish 11:50, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MOTD 11-12[edit]

Thank you for the mk-translation of the motd-template. The video has timed-text captions in english. It would be very kind if you could do a translation of either the english captions, or the german audio. You can copy the time information from the english timed text. --C.Suthorn (talk) 05:42, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and happy new year! Please note I have changed this file for variety and because of the lack of English caption. Could you please kindly modify the mk template accordingly? Thanks, — Racconish💬 09:57, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Comment @Racconish: Happy New Year to you, too! Thanks for the notice. I have changed it now. You are right, so many of these videos seemed to come from one place and started acquiring a propagandistic tone, to be honest. This should not be happening. All the best and keep putting interesting videos! --B. Jankuloski (talk) 10:38, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Maphobbyist: Ah, that is unfortunate. There is no way that I can do this on my own, having merely translated maps. I suggest you write the guys at Commons:Graphic Lab. They'd be able to help as experts in these sorts of things. Cheers. B. Jankuloski (talk) 21:35, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Now tagged for translation. Any feedback on the structure would be welcome. I am trying to balance between the needs of translators, who seem to dislike any type of mark-up, and the needs of the article editors, who like all sorts of mark-up, except for translation mark-up. Thanks, Aymatth2 (talk) 20:58, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Aymatth2: Thanks a lot! I am fine with the translation page as it is (although it doesn't accept the translations yet), but I do prefer mark-up, so the more robust, the better. The structure itself seems fine; I wouldn't mind if it had more code markups because it means that we can accomplish the job better. It is also desirable that any links should be marked for translation, so that I can use the links to the original Macedonian of the laws in question. Thanks again! B. Jankuloski (talk) 21:38, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I have contributed to Wikipedia for many years, but apart from file uploads am fairly new to Wikimedia and the challenges of translation, so am on a learning curve. For the past few months I have been trying to get the COM:CRT/Country pages into shape, and more recently to make them translatable.
  • The translation system seems very slow today. I noticed that with another page earlier today.
  • Everyone has different views on mark-up. I prefer to generally go with the wiki defaults on fonts etc. I think bold, italic, underscore etc. is usually just irritating to the reader. I prefer to use tables sparingly, and to push citation details to the back of the article to declutter the text. But I still see translators dropped simple mark-up like <ref name=Law2012/>, and see editors dropping "meaningless" mark-up like <!--T:11-->.
  • Where possible, I have added links like [1] that point to both English and Macedonian versions, or given separate links to the text of each law in different languages. That way a translator can cut and paste from the law in the translated page language, assuming there is a version in that language. I use {{Sref}} to refer to sections / articles in the law, so the reader who is curious can go to the list at the back and pick the version of the law in their preferred language to find out what [17/2014 Art.13c] really says. I think, but don't feel strongly, that this may be better than presenting a list of citation details to a translator who will not know what to do with it.
Aymatth2 (talk) 22:36, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Aymatth2: Your approach is the best one, I think. Moreover, it is good practice to link to both official English version and the original language (here, Macedonian) in the same elegant way, and this would make sense for every such instance of whatever language. I like it when there are two versions one after the other in the same line, as it is also in keeping with legal tradition. It's true that it's not a requirement, it would be helpful to those who may be concerned with looking into it from a legal perspective. --B. Jankuloski (talk) 23:00, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Going forward I will try to put multi-language links to the laws. That is, <ref name=Law2012/> near the front would point to a citation at the back which, perhaps in bulleted list form, gives links to the law in the original language(s) and in formal and informal translations. That would clearly be an improvement. Thanks, Aymatth2 (talk) 23:16, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There is something odd happening here. See Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Consolidated list Southern Europe/mk. With some of the entries, e.g. Ватикан, Македонија, I see e.g. <translate> North Macedonia</translate>, which I what I get when I do not balance the <translate> tags. But they look balanced and versions of the list in other languages do not have that problem. I made a start at translating COM:CRT/North Macedonia into French, and had no problem. Is there something about the Cyrillic script that throws off the translation or transclusion? Aymatth2 (talk) 21:08, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jahobr: Done. Thanks for that. This one seems actually quite interesting and educational. Cheers! -- B. Jankuloski (talk) 23:02, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.
I saw you recently made a translation of my map File:Celtic_Sea_and_Bay_of_Biscay_bathymetric_map-en.svg. I wanted to let you know that I created a new map with data of higher resolution. I already uploaded the new version in Macedonian but there are plenty of new names of submarine features, so you may want to translate them as well. To ease the task for you, I left in the file a hidden layer with these names in English. Sting (talk) 22:04, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sting: Thanks a lot for that, your map work is pretty excellent, I have to say. It sure took long to translate these properly and lay them all out, it will be nice to add the new ones there. Seems a bit confusing when I bring the new layer up, because it contains both the existing sea features as well as the new ones. sp they tend to cluster. Do you have some idea as to how many of them are completely new? --B. Jankuloski (talk) 22:34, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, no, because I had also to move a little bit some of them to make place for the new neighbors, but most important, several canyons were misplaced due to the former lower resolution, so I think the best would be to start from zero, using the layer in English, at least for all the canyons starting from the Whittard one, more or less at the center of the map, down to the Capbreton one at the southeast. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Macedonian noun/adjective order (for Template:Technique)[edit]

Hello, as the main contributor to Template:Technique/mk I'd like to ask you for help: Template:Technique/mk uses the order noun-adjective for the "main group" and the order adjective-noun for the "over group", "on group" and "mounted group". Currently, I'm finishing the Lua rewrite of {{Technique}} which retrieves noun-adjective-order centrally from Module:Linguistic's function p.noungroup(). I've added data there from https://wals.info/feature/87A where it gives the order adjective-noun for Macedonian[2]. But should the order indeed differ for the main and other groups like currently in Template:Technique/mk? Thanks a lot in advance, --Marsupium (talk) 19:54, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Marsupium: Hello. Thank you for looking into this and the careful consideration. This is very interesting. Macedonian never uses the noun-adjective order, except in poetry, so your WALS source is correct. Even though I have translated most, if not all of these and have seen their results on the file description pages etc. I have never actually seen anything shown in this order, or else I would have corrected it. Only now do I see it in the code and for some reason, haven't noticed it before. But, to make it brief, everything in Macedonian that isn't poetic verse must be in the adjective-noun order, or else it would look wrong, as it does in English. I hope I answered your question satisfactorily, and tell me if I had missed some technicality. B. Jankuloski (talk) 03:10, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot, that answers my question satisfactorily. :-) I've adapted the code accordingly. --Marsupium (talk) 09:13, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed[edit]

Hi, without any knowledge of the mk language and difficulties with the characters, I am working on another version for Drupe fruit diagram-mk.svg; unfortunately I cannot extract the text because it is pathed instead of embedded. Would you please help me and let me copy the text of the eight words? Please ping me when I can get it. Thank you -- sarang사랑 15:02, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarang: Hello, Sarang. Thank you for the attention to my translation. I ought to have arranged for it to be placed in an article already, so your new version will be a good occasion for that. I path them because it gives legibility on the page, otherwise the diagram look rather bad on the image. Here are the words in the exact order that they appear, so that you may copy them. I have swapped one word with a better one.
  • Семка
  • Ендосперм
  • Никулец
  • Обвивка на семката
  • Околуплодник
  • Еднокарп
  • Меокарп
  • Егзокарп
Hope this helps. Kind regards. --B. Jankuloski (talk) 08:11, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanx, it helped; now the multilang version Drupe fruit diagram.svg does contain also mk. Hope it will be useful for your article. -- sarang사랑 10:30, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarang: Thanks for that. It's rather convenient. I made a mistake - I wrote Еднокарп, but I meant to write Ендокарп. Needs to be corrected, I swapped the letters by accident. I'd appreciate if you can correct it. Sorry for the trouble. --B. Jankuloski (talk) 10:36, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My fault, too - I did not read the cyrillic letters but took them without; it had been easily to detect, even for my poor knowledge... I corrected it in the code, but I'll wait a bit before again uploading the file - maybe some other languages will be added and one or the other upload can be spared. I won't panic because of a small error, much more essential is that you suggested the better translaton 'Околуплодник'. I see the there are articles in a lot of languages where the image does not yet contain a translation; may be I'll contact some other users -- sarang사랑 12:35, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarang: Thanks a lot. We try to keep the words as pure as possible and our active community members strive to use native words, which is quite essential in the face of internationalisms that encroach on the language every day. It's quite a serious matter for smaller languages like ours, so we do our best. --B. Jankuloski (talk) 08:22, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Template:PD-Switzerland-photo/mk has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this template, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi, in 2015 you translated this file. Now I try to make a multilingual version. Unfortunately in 2015 you made all path text, making it impossible to copy text. Would you please give me the 8 text strings in mk - e.g. there as an answer? Thank you -- sarang사랑 13:54, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Sarang: Sorry for the inconvenience, I do that because the text renders awfully in articles. I annotated the file with the same text, so now you can just hover over each string (bounded by the yellow squares) and get a copiable version of it. It does take a little time to load the annotations, but I think that will solve the issue. --B. Jankuloski (talk) 08:13, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Text is weakly to awfully rendered, yes. Nevertheless I am thinking that with simple graphics is not such a problem, and where not severe considerations are against it, text should be embedded. Just my personal opinion! Thanx for your work with the texts; now they are embedded. -- sarang사랑 09:28, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder[edit]

Hi Bjankuloski06. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. Here, {{Delete}} is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the {{Delete}} template (rather than the automatic Nominate for deletion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests), you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 17:47, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeff G.: Ah, my apologies. I was wondering which is the right way. If I understood correctly, I should be making use of the Nominate for deletion sidebar tool from now on. The trouble is that this option is present in the menu for other types of pages, but it does not show when I am in a category. I'm looking in the preferences and I can't see a way to remedy it. --B. Template:Location estimated[edit]

Hi Bjankuloski - I revised the wording of Template:Location estimated/en to make it more appropriate. Could you revise your wording of the Macedonian version Template:Location estimated/mk to match, please? Thanks! - MPF (talk) 23:28, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@MPF: ✓ Done Thanks a lot for notifying me! I'm always glad to keep things up to date. --B. Jankuloski (talk) 07:26, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks! - MPF (talk) 08:00, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update translation[edit]

Hello there. I noticed you made the translation of {{CC-GobCL}} to mk. It needs some updating, would you please retranslate the new text? Many thanks in advance. Bedivere (talk) 02:25, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

All done, updated. Thank you for the notice. B. Jankuloski (talk) 07:07, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
Thank you very much, ‪Bjankuloski06‬, for translating my illustrations into Macedonian.

Would it be possible to put the translation in the same file using switch? That allows any updates to the original to propagate to all languages.

Can you also please let me know if you find any mistakes in my images?

Thanks,

Country name[edit]

Is there a reason you removed "North"/"Северна" from the name of North Macedonia/Северна Македонија in this image? --Lasunncty (talk) 05:42, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Yes, there is a very good reason for that. The move for the formal renaming of the country was completely politically cynical, undermocratic and is detested by practically everyone. People do not use it in real life, nor do they want to see it on our wiki. Our reputation will suffer enormous losses and our many years of efforts will be for nothing in our reader's minds if we do that. So much so, that even the media will pick up on it that the Macedonian Wikipedia is doing it. It's a very unfortunate situation, but the consequences of that are great. This is why we use the common name of the country - simply Македонија, which everyone uses constantly. We confine our use of that nomenlclature with "Северна" only in absolitely necessary formal appelations and nothing more (even then, we put a disclamer). It's a situation that few countries have ever been in and cannot be conveyed easily unless you are are member of that society. I hope you have a better understanding now. Regards. B. Jankuloski (talk) 06:15, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I understand. Thank you for the explanation. --Lasunncty (talk) 08:58, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
