Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

The award ceremony will be held in Utrecht on Saturday the 5th of November, at the end of the Dutch Wikimedia Conference at Media Plaza, held the same day. Media Plaza is located next to the Central Station in Utrecht, in the middle of the shopping mall.
Admittance is free from 3pm onwards, just in time to catch the last few presentations at the WCN. Off course you can join us for the full day conference as well and enjoy a day full of information on wiki's and cultural heritage. After the ceremony, our location sponsor generously offers a free drink to everyone!

Wiki Loves Monuments NL[edit]

Beste Ilonamay,

Alle winnende foto's van Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 zijn ondertussen gedrukt als kalenders.

Wikimedia Nederland stelt er hier 100 van beschikbaar voor alle uploaders van de afbeeldingen. Geef op de bijgevoegde link je naam en adres en we sturen je kosteloos een exemplaar toe, als dank voor je deelname! Let op: op = op!! Bestel hier één kalender per adres.

Ook dit jaar zal er in september weer een Nederlandse Wiki Loves Monuments plaatsvinden, als onderdeel van de internationale wedstrijd. Meer informatie vind je tegen die tijd op http://www.wikilovesmonuments.nl/.
Ook zoeken wij nog vrijwilligers die het leuk vinden om mee te helpen met het organiseren van de landelijke wedstrijd of van locale evenementen (een "Wiki takes..." in je eigen woonplaats dus!). Meer informatie daarover vind je op de wiki van Wikimedia Nederland.

Park Frankendael[edit]

Beste Marion, je hebt in een ver verleden een aantal foto's gemaakt van dit park. Bevond zich daaronder toevallig ook een foto van een toegangspoort op een brug onder. Je hebt er één hier geladen, maar er is een andere brug met een soortgelijke toegangspoort, waarvan ik geen foto vond. Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 is weer begonnen![edit]

Beste Ilonamay,

Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 is vorige week begonnen! Aan deze fotowedstrijd nemen dit jaar 54 landen deel, waaronder bijvoorbeeld Nederland, Groot Brittannië, Thailand, Rusland, Oekraïne, maar ook de eilanden Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius en Sint Maarten in de Nederlandse Caribean. Je wordt dus van harte uitgenodigd om te kijken tussen de deelnemende landen of jouw vakantieland er ook bij zit dit jaar en je foto's uit die landen ook te delen!

Net als voorgaande jaren hebben we prijzen voor de mooiste foto en de meeste foto's en een keus gemaakt voor een speciale categorie. Heb jij een foto gemaakt van een monument waarvan voor 1 september 2017 nog geen afbeelding op Wikimedia Commons bestond? Dan doet de afbeelding mee in de speciale categorie! Heeft een monument nog geen foto in de monumentenlijst op Wikipedia, dan is het aannemelijk dat we er nog geen foto van hadden. Om het zoeken naar monumenten zonder afbeelding wat makkelijker te maken, kun je op Wikipedia lijsten en een kaart van Nederland vinden.

Tot slot nodigen we je nog van harte uit om volgende week met ons op pad te gaan. Op zaterdag 16 september wandelen we tijdens een Wiki Takes rond in Hoorn: op zondag 17 september doen we hetzelfde in Leiden. Onder ervaren gidsen wandelen we langs monumenten in de stad en nemen we ruimschoots de tijd om de monumenten goed op de foto te zetten. Aanmelden verplicht en plaatsen gelimiteerd!
Tot en met 30 september heb je de tijd om je foto's up te loaden: de top 10 gaat door naar de internationale wedstrijd, waar de hoofdprijs de nieuwste Canon EOS 5D camera is!

Ach doe rustig aan. Ik heb geen idee van hoe adam-noord in elkaar steekt, maar ik ben ook nog op zoek naar de Gruttobrug in Amsterdam-Noord, Frans Brandtbrug en Anton Geesinkbrug en aldaar ook het kunstwerk The dutch Windmill in de Bep van Klaverenboulevard. En natuurlijk de grote brug over het Noord Hollandsch Kanaal, naast de brug met de N.Ceescamel (talk) 09:55, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Anton Geesink- en Sal Santenbrug staan erop. Bep van Klaverenboulevard incl. kunstwerk gemaakt maar nog nergens geplaatst. Verkeerde brug (1779) voor de Frans Brandtbrug gefotografeerd, maar dat is nooit weg en ik ga nog wel een keer terug. Kunst[edit]

Aanstaande zaterdag wordt een fietsenstalling officieel geopend in de G. Doustraat 156 (stadsbank van lening, het gebouw is geweld aangedaan). In die stalling heeft Hugo Kaagman een kunstwerk gemaakt van wel 30 meter lang. Dat ga ik niet redden met mijn Galaxy S5, wil jij er misschien naar toe. Het is prachtig geworden. Je Blaauwe brug is helemaal niet blauw; en het is al helemaal geen sculpture.:-) Het is een bijzondere rolbasculebrug; ik had er ook nog nooit van gehoord. Ik heb gegevens bij gemeente Amsterdam opgevraagd, want er was bijna niets bekend over dit bruggetje. Ja, ik kreeg een foto van Milliped van de brug in commons, maar er was niets over te vinden, behalve dan de kunstlijst. Maar ik ben er wel achter dat de voorkant van de Gemeente Amsterdam niet weet wat er aan de achterkant gebeurt. Mijn man bij de bruggen kende de hele brug niet (had gelukkig wel de naam van de ontwerper), beeldbank had zonder dat ze het wisten een foto in gesloten stand (onbekend bij de bruggendienst); terwijl de bruggendient een foto in geopende stand heeft (weer onbekend bij het stadsarchief). Die foto's zijn zo te zien echt vlak na elkaar genomen, genomen uit dezelfde hoek en met dezelfde achtergrond; ze hebben ook nog dezelfde toegevoegde tekst (brug naar openluchttheater). En toen vond ik jouw foto, dat het een kunstwerk zou zijn. Typisch Amsterdams zo'n situatie. Schoentjes[edit]

L.s. Deze schoentjes zijn heel schattig, maar horen niet thuis in de Lijst van beelden in Sud West Fryslan. Ze zijn geen kunstwerken in de opebare ruimte. Met vriendelijke groet,Ytzen

Beste Ytzen, ik heb lang moeten zoeken waar je vraag stond, heb hem nu geplaatst waar hij hoort. Dat doe je door bovenaan op Kopje toevoegen te klikken. Ondertekenen kan met vier tildes. Om je vraag te beantwoorden, het gaat totaal niet om het schattigheidsgehalte van deze schoentjes, het stel is in feite een oorlogsmonument, te zien in het Stadhuis van Sneek in een vitrine met begeleidend schrijven van een soldaat uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Het is niet mijn idee om dat als openbaar kunstwerk te beschouwen, het stond op de lijst Openbare Kunst van de Gemeente Sneek. Ik heb speciaal toestemming gekregen om daar te fotograferen. Observatorium[edit]

Beste wensen. Begin November dan zelf Amsterdam ingetrokken, de hele Beemsterstraat af. Het was mooi weer, maar na vieren begon het toch wel fris te worden. Ik kwam het Elpermeerpad af en stuitte op een heuvel. Nou mooi niet dat ik die ga beklimmen! Blijkt er na twee maanden toch een kunstwerk op te staan; het Observatorium van Marin Boezem. Gelukkig was jij er al geweest..... Mocht je weer eens in Noord zijn; er staat nog een ongedocumenteerd monument te staan op Termietergouw bij 't Nopeind; eind van de wereld...... maar ik ga van de zomer zelf ook wel weer een keer,Ceescamel (talk) 17:06, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Putdekselroute[edit]

Ik heb je al een tijd niet gesproken, dus weet niet of je nog actief bent. Ik was afgelopen donderdag in Amsterdam-Noord voor het Waddenwegviaduct, dat gesloopt gaat worden. Per toeval zag ik toen de putdeksel op het Kraaienplein. Die schijnt deel uit te maken van een uitgebreide wandelroute langs allerlei plekken waar iets gebeurd is tijdens WOII. Hai, Ilona; je bent de laatste tijd af en toe aanwezig zag ik. Beste wensen en dank voor de foto van de Terkapelerpoelen. In mijn jeugd (camping Terhorne) heb ik daar nog gevist en gezeild; het was geen succes. Vissen meden mij en oh wat word ik snel zeeziek. Zie jij kans binnenkort naar het IJplein te gaan voor nieuwe foto's van De Muur van Eikelenkamp. Er staat een nieuwe versie van kunststof; een paar foto's rondom lijkt me wel wat. Wipbrug[edit]

Ilona, ik heb weer eens een verzoekje. De Wipbrug in Liergouw is ontmanteld en vervangen door een simpel bruggetje, zodat de bewoners van noord droge voeten kunnen behouden. Ik weet niet of je het gezien hebt, maar ik heb een verhaal gemaakt bij het Keienmonument aan de Oostzanerdijk. Ik ben nu op zoek naar een foto van het oorlogsmonument dat onlangs in het metrostation Noorderpark is gezet. Heb je er al een foto van of kan je er binnenkort naar toe? Een nieuwe foto van de nieuwe fietsbrug (over het NH-kanaal) in aanbouw mag ook. Ik zit qua foto's even vast in de Haarlemmerdijk/Haarlemmerstraat. Nieuw verzoek[edit]

Ik heb alweer een verzoek voor je en weer het NDSM-terrein. Daar heeft de bekende (?) Shepard Fairey twee muurschilderingen gezet, waar ik binnenkort iets over wil schrijven. Dee een (Raise the level), een meters hoge is gezet op een buitenwand zo te zien. Het tweede is het wapen van Amsterdam, daarvan weet ik niet of hij openbaar is. Lijst gemeentelijke monumenten in de Hoeksche waard: Oud Beijerland[edit]

Het gaat om Steenenstraat 23. Dat adres is inderdaad een gemeentelijk monument, maar de afbeelding is van Steenenstraat 28. Ik kan een afbeelding van de echte nummer 23 verzorgen, maar via de bedrijfsnaam van "The Dutch Villa" op Steenenstraat nummer 23 op Oozo.nl is 'ie ook te downloaden. In Google-streetview gaat dat niet, want daar staan er grote lindenbomen voor.
