Tip: Categorizing images[edit]

Hello, PeeJay2K3!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

I think you want to delete the wrong file File: Kit_body_manutd0910a.png because I created this symbol of nike (not an illegal copy of the original image) and if you put in the category en:Template:Football kit was because you wanted to, I have nothing from that, is another thing, the shirt was launched yesterday and you have created (or invented) this file before the official release. Find fashion is also illegal, so it is not fair you delete Kit body manutd0910a.png because I am the author of this file. --Bruno-ban (talk) 11:32, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Adidas copyright[edit]

I'm not using the official Adidas logo, it's no image. So no copyright infringement! It resembles the official logo, but it is not the real thing, so again no copyright infringement. Please stop changing the RSC Anderlecht home kit.

Again, adidas copyright[edit]

Trying to be smart is not funny, but you should know. You said it yourself: it looks like the Adidas logo. "Looking the same" is not the same as BEING the same. It is suppost to resemble the logo, without violating copyrights. If I wanted to violate copyrights, why didn't use the real logo? So stop being smart and ruining somebody's work. Ofcourse it looks like the Adidas logo! What did you think? That I was going to make one that resembles the logo of Nike??? There are various kits on Wikimedia with exact the same "Adidas logo" and nobody, Wikimedia inclusive, ever complained about it. So don't try to be smarter than everbody else or I'll have to report your behaviour.

2011 Copa Libertadores final[edit]

I dont know how to make line-ups svg images (File:Man City vs Stoke 2011-05-14.svg for example), and was wondering if you could do the line-ups of the two games of the 2011 Copa Libertadores final, using official data as source:

Final warning for edit warring in football kit images[edit]

Hello there.

This is a final warning to all editors involved in the upload war over football kits. Pages like File:Kit body rmcf1213a.png, with over a dozen back and forth uploads, are disruptive.I have seen this same type of edit war on several pages, and going back several months. It does not matter if you think you're right or not, it has to end. If you are on the side advocating for logos, and the image has no logos, upload the version with logos as a separate image, and add the version with no logos to the other versions section of the file description page. The same goes for if you are on the side advocating for no logos and the current version has logos already. It is better to have two stable versions than to have one very unstable one.

Also, since at least one party has already started this, I am explicity forbidding you from putting each other's versions up for deletion at DR. This is an extension of the edit warring, and is, like the edit warring, highly disruptive.

Because of the length and severity of this mess, the minimum block length I would consider for continued violations after a final warning is one month. Repeated infractions will quickly scale up in block length. I do not consider myself too involved to take admin action here. It has to end, and repeated pleas for you all to talk it out have fallen on deaf ears.

Hi, I see that you often do great works with football lineups.
Would it be a problem for you to create a lineup of the last 2015 European Under-21 final?

If it's easier for you, I already have the informations about that:

RWC[edit]

Hi, you called my remake of rugby lineups 'really ugly' so I decided to find out what's going on. I put quite a lot of effort and spend a bit of time to make it look better than those you made recently, for exaple this one File:New Zealand vs Japan 2011-09-16.svg. I drew kits that aren't just one-colour filled templates, aligned the lines and spacing between the players. I adjusted scrum position that tighthead prop looks like a tighthead one. By moving flankers a bit back I got this kind of effect (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CPG9THeWcAABaHb.png) as well as more place for locks' and flankers' surnames like Ratuniyarawa or Tchilaishvili. The only thing I'm not 100% convinced is the fact that names are bolded but I thought there is enough space for it. What made you revert my changes? I have no desire for edit warring but I sincirely think my version is more precise. Please let me know what you think. ARvєδuι + 22:01, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Changing the font or its bolding isn't a big problem, I assume. And about lineups from past games – who says they need to be changed? Everything evolve from worse to better and they still are not all the same (123). Main thing is to be consistent within one tournament. ARvєδuι + 06:48, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
First of all, shouldn’t the home team be on the top? And more your main accusation was bolding the font, but afterwards you reverted all my changes with one exception: flankers position. Do you waste my time on purpose or just accidentaly? All I've done, adding those kits, organizing lineups. I made this template for some reason, to use it, not to ignore it. I wrote you a message, you overwrote my edits. Good job! ARvєδuι + 16:33, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
Have you at least opened this file: File:2015 RWC blank lineup.svg. Not in browser, in Inkscype or any other program you use. What I made you can read few lines above, as I already wrote that. I was thinking about this font. If you use Verdana (18 pt), bold one isn't readable, standard one isn't great as well. I changed it to Arial 19 (bolded). Maybe this one will fit you better. (http://imgur.com/gRwuLcn) ARvєδuι + 18:10, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I've opened your blank template, but the only difference I can really see is that you've changed the font. The detailed kits clearly took you a long time, but I think that level of detail is unnecessary; who's going to be looking that closely at the colours? For kits, we should be adding Football kit to the match summaries, the graphic is just to show the line-ups in a graphical format, hence only the basic colours are required. Wrong initials[edit]

I see you have illustrated two different rugby world cup line ups the have the wrong initials. The Wales vs Uruguay, Uruguay's number eight position surname is incorrect. The New Zealand vs Namibia, New Zealand's blindside flanker postilon surname is incorrect.

Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smashem (talk • contribs)

What's the program to edit/illustrate lineups like you've been creating?

Sorry, again just thought I'd inform you that one of the lineups surname is incorrect. Samoa vs South Africa, Samoa's prop position should be Johnston not Perenise.

Thanks and I apologize

Just little tweaks to be fixed that you've probably already noticed. Scotland, Uruguay, USA and Romania have wrong color kits on in the lineups you created.

Wrong initials[edit]

Haha spotted another mistake in the Australia vs Uruguay line up you created. Both flankers positions are incorrect. Should be McCalman not Fardy and McMahon not Hooper. Sorry if this bothers you. I would do this myself to save you the trouble but I don't know how. Plus I noticed the color of the Uruguay's shirts are different to how you had them on the previous line up you created involving them.

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the OTRS system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Tagging copyvios[edit]

Hi, When tagging copyright violations, please inform the uploader. This is best done using the gagdet. See in your preferences to enable them, tab "Gadget", section "Maintenance tools" : "AjaxQuickDelete" and "Quick delete". These add links in the left column (or right column for Hebrew, Arabic, etc., language interface). Regards, Yann (talk) 23:20, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
