File:Viktoria_Luise_Adelheid_Mathilde_Charlotte;_13_September_1892_–_11_December_1980.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Hannah de Rothschild.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. If you created the content yourself, enter {{Own}} as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} or {{Cc-zero}} to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Unblock request granted

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, and one or more administrators has reviewed and granted this request.

Request reason: "In December 2008 I was blocked for a year. After this I did some edits as an IP, often adding "Mutter Erde", because I had nothing to hide. The next day I was blocked indefinite. Now, about 8 years later, I think I need my nick back, to upload files or move files. Mutter Erde (talk) 09:54, 13 July 2017 (UTC)"[reply]
Unblock reason: "After 8 years of being blocked, I think you deserve a second chance. It will be entirely up to you what you do with that chance. I would ask you to consider the concerns voiced below and make sure that you stick to constructive editing going forward. Daphne Lantier 03:30, 23 July 2017 (UTC)"[reply]

Hi, Do you accept the reason for your block, and do you promise to behave following Commons policies? Regards, Yann (talk) 17:28, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, Mutter Erde (talk) 18:09, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The reason for the block was quite serious, so I expect quite more than a 4-letter word... Yann (talk) 16:07, 15 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The reason was "evade [a one year] block". OK, that was not nice. I want to apologize for that. But I want to point out, that this was in fact not a bad deal for the encyclopedia and other media, as you can see in the 2017 list. If you additionally want to check my work of 2016 - no problem. Mutter Erde (talk) 22:07, 15 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The reasomn was not "evading a block", but the circumstances that led to the block. -jkb- (talk) 22:16, 15 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am too not happy about the 2017 contribution list and the not a bad deal comment. It clearly shows us that you don't respect the rules and circumvent problems whenever you can. Playing games of hide and seek is not what the community deserves. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 06:23, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We are talking about 8-years-old-stuff. All the involved still active admins were asked [2]. Additionally I present a list of current edits. Have you found a controversal edit? Please tell me Mutter Erde (talk) 07:15, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Controversial or not makes no difference. Editing using an IP while the user account is blocked is block evasion. Why should we trust somebody who obviously doesn't care about community decisions? --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 03:27, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Community decisions" is a very very very big word. Reviewing the old topic of 2008 (X) you can find a bunch of proposals - from unblock to seven days, to one year and even infinte.
I remember, this was the very first occasion for all coming trouble: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:No_Israel.svg , followed by at least five or more undeletion/deletion requests and probably some more in the last years, I don't know. Today this selfmade work of Admin Osama K. "decorates" around 400 user pages and more websites outside wikipedia, sometimes with a note: Courtesy Wikimedia Commons. A good advertising for wikimedia. (That was ironic).
I have lost this struggle, I'm not interested in a second round. You can trust me Mutter Erde (talk) 19:11, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Images from a book[edit]

Apropos your proposals for renaming the images in Category:Memories of my life - being my personal, professional, and social recollections as woman and artist (1907). Those images are from a book, originally taken from the Internet Archive. It is customary for the book name to be present in the title in case of pages from a book. However, the long ID no. is meaningless for us. You can propose changing the ID no. to the relevant page no., but the name of the book needs to be present, being the linking factor. Best, Hrishikes (talk) 01:00, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

First: That are not my "proposals", that are the original descriptions in the book, as here: [3] (aka page 218)
Second: Can't find your argument here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:File_renaming#Which_files_should_not_be_renamed.3F
Third: I (plus many file movers) have renamed until now around 1200 pictures from many different books, nearly all because of criterion 2 (2. To change from a meaningless or ambiguous name to a name that describes what the image particularly displays).
You are a file mover, so please move the files now. Thank you Mutter Erde (talk) 09:53, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
See criterion 4 of file renaming: To harmonize the file names of a set of images: so that only one part of all names differs. Images from a book constitute a set of images, and only one part (e.g. page no.) should differ. Hrishikes (talk) 12:19, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mutter Erde, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Copyright discussion on German Wikipedia[edit]

Hi, Mutter Erde, would you be so kind as to take a look at my userpage on the German Wikipedia. I would like your second opinion. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 11:23, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lotje, I am very sorry, but you and all others cannot use files as https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sterling_Hayden_1953.jpg in German wikipedia. If you click on the German version of the template PD US not renewed you will see the orange colored warning especially for German contributors. Regards Mutter Erde (talk) 11:37, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if there would be an easier way to make sure images like this just cannot be added to the Wikipedia's with that kind of restrictions. That would make it much easier. Why do some contributors complicate things by not wanting to make a step to commons and trying to be helpful over here? It is frustrating! I really is. Everybody sitting on his or her island, not prepared to react and instead prefering to use that typical "you idiot" language. Lotje (talk) 12:59, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
ː The world is big enough. So big, that you can live very good without a German/Austrian/Swiss wikipedia. Believe me :-). Regards Mutter Erde (talk) 13:09, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, Mutter Erde, the world is big enough, but... on the other hand, laws can be changed, and this one in the D-A-CH and other areas need to be altered because of OUTDATED and NOT OF THIS WORLD ANYMORE. Just reminds me of the POP in Belgium, where the Atomium initially was not allowed be displayed on the Dutch (read Belgian) Wikipedia. How outdated was that? Actually by adding an interwikilink to commons one could make a little detour... Suppose I do that on the German Wikipedia? Look and see what happens. Lawmakers sometimes need a wake up call. Lotje (talk) 07:25, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
According to https://irights.info/artikel/die-harmonisierung-des-urheberrechts/5069 is the EU the right address for any changes. Before asking the EU, I would ask User:Ralf Roletschek, a professional photographer, about the point of view of the German wikipedia. But please only in German language.
