Use of your Airbus 380 image[edit]

Hi Terence, I am writing a book on Singapore and hoping to get permission to use your Airbus 380 picture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SIA_Airbus_A380,_9V-SKA,_SIN_8.jpg. I have seen for example your photo File:Church of St. Peter and St. Paul 8.JPG as one of many photos taken of that church. Could you please add to the description in which country and which city this photo was taken? Another question is, could you please add a link to a category to your photos? Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

If you don't mind I would like to ask some questions and clarify some things so I can modify the photo requests I have placed throughout the Wikipedias.

How does a protected area in Singapore work?

With American airports, one can drive on the property and photograph sites as long as he-she doesn't hold up traffic. A person may be searched if authorities have suspicion, but much of the property is open to the public. People can't get inside the secure area of the terminals without having a ticket to board a flight, but many facilities are located outside of the secure terminal area.

Is the SIA Training Centre visible from the runways of Changi Airport? Usually when facilities are located within secure areas and are not visible from the outside, I ask for photos of the main gate and/or the sign outside of the main gate. I.E. the British Air Accidents Investigation Bureau (AAIB) head office is represented by this image, because the actual AAIB building is behind a secure area and is not visible from the outside. For the head office, a solution may be to simply ask a person who has a flight through Changi Airport to take the photo. The head office is certainly visible from the airport runways and other parts of the airport property; a person could photograph it while his or her car is moving (and someone else in the car is driving) and/or while he or she is buckled into an airplane seat.

That way I can help craft my requests so that I can guide a person who wants to take the photos and show him or her how to do it.

Aha! I see. Singapore must be really strict in terms of its photography. So someone on land can't even take photos of those buildings from the outside.

So, then the building in the picture is just another Singapore Airlines building and not airline house?

An update: A person familiar with Singapore Airport responded to an inquiry I made at en:Wikipedia_talk:SGpedians'_notice_board#Changi_Airport_buildings - He says that Airline House is a group of buildings, and not simply one building. He said that both of the big SQ logo buildings in the background are a part of Airline House.

So it seems like you did photograph "Airline House"

But for me to get a photo of a frontal view of the complex, I would have to ask the Singapore Airlines PR Department. So I will send them an e-mail

Your account will be renamed[edit]

Hello,

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Terence Ong. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Terence Ong~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.

Request for G7 deletion[edit]

Hi. I have removed your request for deletion under G7 from a number of your files. They do not qualify ~for G7. The criteria for G7 states "Original author or uploader requests deletion of recently created (<7 days) unused content. For author/uploader requests for deletion of content that is older[1] a deletion request should be filed instead."
