Thanks for uploading File:Norrby IF logo.svg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

@大诺史: Well, I don't need permission if it is uneligeble for copyright. I don' t really get it? This logo is way simpler than some other logos I've seen here on commons.Jonteemil (talk) 14:12, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
As this is a Swedish logo, COM:TOO Sweden applies and it states that "A simple general rule is that if it is unlikely that two persons would create, for example, a text identically or similarly, the text is probably sufficiently original to qualify as a protected work. (..) Often, the requirements for copyright protection are considered to be relatively low." I'll convert the tag to DR for discussion. (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 14:17, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
@大诺史: I see. How come American copyright law seem to apply on English Wikipedia no matter the origin of the file? In case this logo is sufficiently original to qualify as a protected work than I guess File:Pitea IF logo.svg is too?Jonteemil (talk) 14:24, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure about the policies on the English wiki but I believe it this logo is below the threshold of originality in the US but not in the source country (Sweden) so it's a fair use file. (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 14:26, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
To add on, there is a fair amount of countries that have a relatively low TOO, for example, UK (See Commons:Deletion requests/Two British logos) & China (See Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Logos of television channels and networks of China).

@大诺史: Fair enough. Thank you for the knowledge!Jonteemil (talk) 14:34, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

File:Norrby IF logo.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Tagging

Hej!

Fake SVG

Thank you for correct tagging the fake SVGs! Just for the case that you want to know, it is better to do it together with another description, as you can see e.g. at File:Famille Cochin.svg. -- sarang사랑 11:05, 27 September 2019 (UTC)

@Sarang: I usually mark Fake SVG’s with !=f in {{Igen}} when I see the template. Sometimes I miss it though and just use {{FakeSVG}}.Jonteemil (talk) 14:24, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
Oh, you want me to add {{Igen}} when it’s not even there? The problem with that is that I don’t know if the SVG is valid or not, and I don’t even know what validity means regarding SVG’s. Like, how can a fake SVG be valid? Jonteemil (talk) 14:27, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
Even a fake SVG can be either W3C-valid, or invalid. With the script it is very easy to tag a file with the correct Igen parameters; you just need to copy some lines to your your common.js, as is told also at the template docu. Good success! -- sarang사랑 15:54, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
@Sarang: Huh, that’s a cool trick. {{Igen}} is just added automatically. Why can’t bot do it though?Jonteemil (talk) 21:16, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
May be that it would be possible to run a bot to edit these taggings. But it remains always to the responsibility of the editor to check the suggestions of the script, and to check, change, reduce or expand them at best knowledge! The script does not detect everything, and the editor can vary the format. When the script detects embedded text, it suggests the character "%" for that - but when the text consists of only one letter or number(s), the tag "%v" or "%n" will be better (try it!). As well the selection of the topic can be difficult to find out by the script. I remember that the script suggested the topic "flag" for Tied-arch bridge pattern.svg because it found 'flag' in the German word "Auflager"... And it may be difficult to decide whether it's a logo or icon.
When the script detects an embedded raster, it is too difficult to decide whether it is e.g. a topographic structure (!=t), or a badsvg; so it generates |!<!--PLEASE CHECK, not generally for all graphic types-->|. This comment should be removed, anyway.
And very often it is recommended to use the opportunity of editing a description to correct some (or many) other things there, to replace much too complicated assignments with {{Own based}} or {{AutVec}}, to ease links with e.g. {{Wsv}} (or other W-links). Redlinks can be avoided with {{Ut}}, {{Uw}} and similar user links - the script cannot see a redlink at the first glance! Often I can reduce a file description by some hundred bytes to get a better readable and nicer formatting - the numerous possibilities cannot be seen by a stupid script. But when I open a desription for edit, I can see immediately what should be done. With some experience of an editor, the script combined with his skill is a good solution. -- sarang사랑 07:22, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
@Sarang: Thanks for a good answer! It seems like a lot of people (including myself before I read this) didn’t know that <!-- [...] --> was supposed to be removed, see this.Jonteemil (talk) 22:51, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Your script may have a bug. It moves the source out of the source section. Castillo blanco (talk) 05:32, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

@Castillo blanco: It’s not my script, and I don’t think there’s a bug. The edit where {{Retouched picture}} is moved into {{Igen}} is a wanted and expected edit. Although I agree that I shouldn’t have left the source parameter empty, I’ll change that.Jonteemil (talk) 13:34, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi Joneemil,

How do I give permission for our logo to be on our wikipedia page?

Tom Shorey Thornbury Town FC Media Secretary — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomshorey (talk • contribs) 10:16, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

@Tomshorey: Please send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org following the instructions of Commons:Email templates/Consent#Email message template for release of rights to a file.Jonteemil (talk) 11:29, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
The request may go through eventhough the file has been deleted. If OTRS see your copyright holdership as valid it can easily be restored.Jonteemil (talk) 11:31, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
Please note however that your logo does not have to be on Commons to be on your Wikipedia page at the English Wikipedia. It may be used there under US fair use law even if the copyright has been released or not.Jonteemil (talk) 11:34, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

This is really not copyrightable under United States law (see File:Best Western logo.svg). If you want to get it deleted, it will have to be for a specific reason, not just a generic template... AnonMoos (talk) 05:38, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

@AnonMoos:
1. If it's not copyrightable, then use {{PD-textlogo}} or {{PD-shapes}}. {{Self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} implies that it needs a license and is copyrightable
2. Since it's a Swiss logo, COM:TOO Switzerland applies, not COM:TOO US and it can therefor not be compared with File:Best Western logo.svg. I have made the same mistake before thinking that :), see #File tagging File:Norrby IF logo.svg.Jonteemil (talk) 14:03, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
I did not originate the image, I only did a little fix-up on it. I don't feel like researching the threshold of originality in Switzerland -- feel free to do so if you wish. But the image still cannot be deleted by means of a generic template, only by a deletion discussion in which specific issues are raised and discussed. AnonMoos (talk) 15:51, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
@大诺史: Do you think you can explain this better than me?Jonteemil (talk) 18:03, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
@AnonMoos: Let me sum this all up, the Swiss copyright law on TOO states anything that is "creations of the mind, literary or artistic, that have an individual character" is copyrightable. File:Sion.svg seems to be above the TOO due to the elements used and the "portioning" of the logo. It is unknown if the artist has released this under a license that is acceptable on commons. For the file to be on commons, it must not be copyrighted in the source country and in the US. However, I do agree that a deletion request would be a more appropriate way to approach this as this file has been on commons for 8 years. (Talk/留言) 02:46, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
@大诺史: Well, I don’t necessarily want it to be deleted. I just want verification for the stated license. Is that problematic just because someone hasn’t done it for eight years?Jonteemil (talk) 22:44, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
@大诺史: pingJonteemil (talk) 16:30, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for not replying. I would say that its kind of hard to get permission from the copyright holder as no one knows(?) who the person is. As for the 8 years thing, the file gets "automatically patrolled" if no one patrols/checks it within 30 days of the upload so it might have been the cause. (Talk/留言) 16:34, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

Autopatrolled rights given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. - FitIndia Talk Mail 10:06, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

@LechitaPL: Does it qualify for COM:FOP Poland? If not, it doesn’t matter if it's just a picture of the graphic.Jonteemil (talk) 16:18, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
Of course I qualify. I am also the author of this graphic. Lechita talk 19:09, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

I have declined your dw-no source here once already. That's because it's an inappropriate notice. The source is irrelevant. What is relevant is the copyright status of the logo which has been photographed, and it needs a DR to determine this. Thanks. Rodhullandemu (talk) 15:18, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

@Rodhullandemu: My bad, didn't see that you removed it. I agree with you that the notice is a bit wrongly formulated. It should be dw-no permission, but there isn't such a template. Do you have permission to use the Aston Martin logo?Jonteemil (talk) 15:28, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
I included the file in Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Aston Martin logos so you know.Jonteemil (talk) 15:32, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Is there something I'm missing for why we're removing hundreds of images from this category? GMGtalk 17:55, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

@GreenMeansGo: This edit of Sarang's makes all SVG's using the template automatically categorizing in SVG text logos.Jonteemil (talk) 17:57, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
Ah. Gotcha. Makes sense. You may want to include a custom edit summary in cat-a-lot to that effect, or there might be a lot of people confused. GMGtalk 17:59, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
@GreenMeansGo: Yeah, that would have been smart. I actually though about making a costum edit summary but for some reason I opted not to.Jonteemil (talk) 18:02, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi Jonteemil,

Question

Please explain why you did Special:Diff/408386085? My rationale were correct, there was no need to change. You shouldn't change reason on other user's tagged pages unless it is meaningless or vandalism. -- CptViraj (📧) 03:53, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

@CptViraj: I found the template {{SD}} while checking the category for speedy deletions and got fond of it. Only two letters need to be entered and the entire criterion appears - amazing, I thought. So that's why I changed the uses. I don't know what you mean with them not being identical though? They are pretty much identical, as far as I can see. {{SD}} just shows the entire G2 criterion, instead of only being a broken redirect. Sorry if it upset you, that was never my intention.Jonteemil (talk) 04:02, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
I add only G2: Broken redirect to make clear that the page is deleted because it was a broken redirect. Not a big issue tho but it would be fine if you don't change in future. Apologize if I sound rude, i don't have any intention to but i'm en-2 so... -- CptViraj (📧) 04:10, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

Deletion requests

Hello !

I nominated some files that I imported for deletion, how long does it take to be deleted and am I sure that there are goin to be ? You mentioned "don't create the Commons talk: pages. Only the Commons: pages." : what do you mean ? Did I make a mistake when asking for deletion ? Thanks a lot ! 2A04:CEC0:11D4:A2C4:C20:768B:CF1D:C9D7 07:25, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

@2A04:CEC0:11D4:A2C4:C20:768B:CF1D:C9D7, 2A04:CEC0:11D4:A2C4:C20:768B:CF1D:C9D7, and Cabinet Artlaw: Hello! You created for example both Commons:Deletion requests/File:Jeune Fille en blanc, Léon Weissberg.png and Commons talk:Deletion requests/File:Jeune Fille en blanc, Léon Weissberg.png whereas only the prior should have been created. So I nominated all the Commons talk: pages for speedy deletion and they were deleted accordingly. Regarding your nominations for deletion I'm sorry to say that I don't know how long it will take for an admin to get to your files. Also, I'm not totally concinced that they will be deleted either. You see the argument for "I am the uploader and I want my file(s) deleted" is only valid for 7 days, see CSD G7. This means that an admin can deny deletion since your files are 7< old.Jonteemil (talk) 13:34, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

I need your help

I created the files for Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, DNHDD using an image that is in the public domain. I need help on how to attribute this. Oh, do I still need to leave the deletion tag there for you to remove once everything is resolved? Cordyceps-Zombie (talk) 15:32, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
@Cordyceps-Zombie: I've corrected the three files you mentioned on the deletion request. The deletion tag stays until an admin closes the deletion request (DR).Jonteemil (talk) 15:35, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
Thank you so much for fixing these issues. I will now use the guidance you have given for future attributions of images I make that incorporate the Lion Capital of Ashoka. Cordyceps-Zombie (talk) 15:48, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Please delete it. I'll create a better image at a later date. Cordyceps-Zombie (talk) 16:18, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
@Cordyceps-Zombie: Under what license?Jonteemil (talk) 16:21, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Pleas excuse my very limited wikipedia skills, I haven't been editing in at least 10 years.

Regarding the copyright issue you mentioned with https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Rpyc3-logo-medium.png -- I have explicit permission from the Python Software Foundation. I have recorded email correspondence. Do you want me to upload it somewhere?

Question re: Commons:Twinkle

Is Twinkle functioning on commons? I'm looking for a more straightforward way to tag files and then warn the user, rather than copy/pasting the template message manually onto their talk page. (And with the batch action, I can tag multiple files on the uploader which is nice, but I'm not sure how to warn the user with the templated message (and so I do that manually). Just seeking tips to be more efficient. I tried adding the Commons Twinkle to my js, but I don't see the TW button like I do on en.wiki. Thanks in advance for any additional tips you have! Spencer (talk) 03:42, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

@Spencer: Twinkle doesn't however QuickDelete does, which pretty much has the same functions, activate it here. For batch ditos you can use Commons:VisualFileChange which also let's you add text and find&replace etc, pretty neat. Some of the Twinkle functions, rollbacks and such, can be activated by using meta:User:Xiplus/TwinkleGlobal witch I have activated and it works well. When you get used to these tools you won't have to add anything manually again :).Jonteemil (talk) 04:27, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
For speedy deletions using {{SD}} some additional configuration is needed. Enter this in User:Spencer/common.js and you should be able to mark files for speedy deletion with {{SD}} as well:
window.AjaxDeleteExtraButtons = [{
		'label': 'Dupe',
		'tag': '{' + '{duplicate|1=%PARAMETER%|user=%USER%}}',
'img_summary': 'Tagging as duplicate of [[File:%PARAMETER%]]',
'prompt_text': 'Which file is this a duplicate of?',
        'optin_notify': 1
	}, {
		'label': 'SpeedyDelete',
		'tag': '{' + '{SD|1=%PARAMETER%}}',
		'img_summary': 'Requesting speedy deletion',
		'prompt_text': 'Per which criterion',
                    'talk_tag': '{'+'{subst:speedynote|1=%FILE%|2=%PARAMETER%}}',
'talk_summary': 'Notification of possible speedy deletion for %FILE%',
                },
];

{{Dupe}} is also added here, since I use it quite a lot. You can choose to only add {{SD}} though.

Cheers, Jonteemil (talk) 04:47, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Great, thank you! Spencer (talk) 13:18, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Edit undone

Hello, Jonteemil. I got a red bell message that you undid my edit by yours and now I am curious why you think it is better to keep a 'bad name'-category still categorized: could you please elaborate? Thanks, Eissink (talk) 10:59, 21 April 2020 (UTC).

@Eissink: When you want to delete something, please don't replace all the page's content with the deletion template. Just place it at the top. I don't disagree with the deletion :).Jonteemil (talk) 11:00, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
I understood already that you don't like to empty the page, but my question was really: what is the reason for not wanting me to clear the page? Is it because it makes it easier for moderators to decide? I don't get it, and the template page says nothing about it. Eissink (talk) 11:07, 21 April 2020 (UTC).
@Eissink: The reason is since many times people use the wrong deletion template, and if the content then is gone then admins might not know of that. Therefor it's a good habit not to empty the page. An example would be if {{Bad name}} would be placed on a category that's been moved, when actually {{SD|G2}} would be the correct template.Jonteemil (talk) 11:10, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Björkvik/Björkviks herrgård

I dont understand your actions regarding the categories Björkvik/Björksviks herrgård that I created. I first created a category with the in-correct spelling Björksvik. So I created a new correct one and suggested that the miss-spelled category should be deleted. But now you have removed my suggestion and instead suggested that the category with correct spelling should be deleted. It should be the other way around! Please explain? Bergsven (talk) 11:36, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

Perhaps you mean that the original category should be moved instead of deleted and a new one created? Ok, I am sorry, I searched for a solution and found how to suggest the deletion. Bergsven (talk) 11:41, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
@Bergsven: It was moved improperly, see w:Wp:Copy and paste move: "Cut-and-paste moves still occur today because of unfamiliarity with the move function, unawareness that attribution is necessary, or when the move function fails (e.g., because the target has history) and people don't know to use the requested moves forum to ask for help from an administrator.". It will be moved to the correct spelling once it is deleted :).Jonteemil (talk) 11:42, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

Small size SVGs

”May I ask why you don't upload your SVGs bigger? They are so small and can barely be seen.”

¡Good day !

the reason is simple, files svg , doesn't matter the size, so , for don't watch a image in all screen like this, I upload all svg files 100px.

to see bigger go

This image rendered as PNG in other widths: 200px, 500px, 1000px, 2000px.

This file it's really big .--EEIM (talk) 06:19, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

@EEIM: I know they easily can be enlarged but why not have the nominal size good in the first place. Around 100.000 pixels is the standard at enwiki. Do you think you would be able to have that too on your SVGs?Jonteemil (talk) 17:23, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Oscar Wilde Memorial Bookshop Advertisement

Hi, sorry to bother you but you posted to me once before so I was hoping you could help? I uploaded an image file that I saved on my friend's daughter's computer first bc I am staying with them, but now the daughter's name is in the metadata and she is not happy and wants it removed. Are you able to remove that or else just delete the whole file and I will try again? Sorry for the screw-up - the file is here: File:Oscar_Wilde_Memorial_Bookshop_Advertisement.jpgLilipo25 (talk) 21:53, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

@Lilipo25: Hello! Please see Commons:Exif#Editing Exif fields and you should be able to do it yourself. I'm happy to help if not :).Jonteemil (talk) 22:07, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I've read that page and I can't begin to figure out how to do it. I can't even figure out how to find the Exif field on the page, much less how to delete it. I put in a speedy deletion request in hopes of starting over. Can you help? Thanks. Lilipo25 (talk) 22:17, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
@Lilipo25: On the downmost part of the file page you see the heading "Metadata". The info that's indicated there is called the exif. As you can see "Author" is followed by what I would guess is your friend's daughter's name.Jonteemil (talk) 22:25, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

I'm deleting my last comment asking for help as I can see that you aren't an admin and don't know how to do this. Lilipo25 (talk) 00:08, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello. This is a reminder for you that it is important to address the identified issues instead of simply removing legitimate warnings and notices from your talk page. Removing messages does not remove them from the talk page's history. You are encouraged instead to archive past discussions according to our community guidelines. You can have this done automatically for you -- simply place {{subst:User:Jeff G./usertalksetup}} or {{subst:autoarchive resolved section/usertalksetup}} at the top of your user talk page and then old messages will be archived after 1 month (see User:MiszaBot/usertalksetup for more details). If you have received warnings for copyright issues, please familiarize yourself with our policy on licensing. You can also ask for help at the village pump or the help desk if you need assistance.

--A1Cafel (talk) 13:53, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

@A1Cafel: I only remove the notifications regarding files that I've edited with CropTool and that ought to be fine. I don't consider those files my own and would prefer them not to spam Special:ListFiles/Jonteemil which they do at the moment. To have notifications to each file I've edited with CropTool is as stupid as to have it for each file I've requested for rotation with Mediawiki:Gadget-RotateLink. The only difference is that CropTool automatically uploads the new version whereas RotateLink just gives the input for a bot to do it.Jonteemil (talk) 18:44, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

SVG-Bug-Reports

general reply to File talk:FET korge k 2.svg and File_talk:Effects_of_sleep_deprivation.svg

I'm just asking to double-check, since Bugs can often be small and easy to oversee. You can just ignore my pings, if you do not contradict (In this field I act as a user not as admin, so don't be courteous). In ~2016 there was a librsvg update, and the cached image stays for several years (except someone ?action=purge it). Anyway I also often tagged images only with ?, but re-finding the bug is often more difficult than I thought, so now I mostly add an explanation. And sometimes it is also just a copy-paste-mistake.

Some images such as https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/librsvg/-/issues/566 are rendered as intended, but however according to the definition, exactly this is the bug, invalid arguments should not be rendered at all (e.g. the flag of Argentina should not be rendered, it should be white), so bugs are sometimes tricky.

If you check File:Domain_Fronting_letter_illustration.svg, File:KK1.svg, File:Domain_Fronting_letter_illustration.svg, you can hardy find the bug without knowing where to look, therefore I hope it is ok still pinging you for double-checking.

Sorry for File_talk:Alboran_Sea_map_mk.svg, I did not check that well enough.  — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 21:48, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

File:Parma FC logo.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not.

Thank you!

Timrå IK

Hej!

Det står följande i informationsmallen du bifogade: "A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). This also applies if you are the author yourself. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{OTRS pending}} on file description page."

SpegelSkribent (talk) 22:27, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Jonteemil (talk) 22:51, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Longer term files generally not speedied unless unequivocal

If a file has been here for a number of years, I would recommend that such files are but through a DR rather than attempted to be speedied. If something is unequivocal based on new evidence then it may be, however, these are generally fewer in number. Best that the community has the opportunity for consensus, and they are hardly urgent.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:06, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

@Billinghurst: Yeah, yeah. DRs are such a lengthy process, that's why I prefer SDs when it's possible.Jonteemil (talk) 09:48, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

file talk speedy requests

@Billinghurst: Why isn't {{SD|G8}} enough? An admin should be able to spot the redlink in {{Kept}} and then put two and two together, or am I wrong? What may be the confusion? Pinging also @Infrogmation: who reverted my speedy request at File talk:Berge mountains.JPG.Jonteemil (talk) 19:36, 23 May 2021 (UTC)
Numerous reasons why there could be a redlink. If you have done the leg work already, pointers help, otherwise we both go through the full story. As I said more info is handy. It would be just as easy for you to blank the talk pages rather than request deletion.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:03, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi Jonteemil, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

DRs rule

Hi. Please don't revert like that. When a DR exists it controls the process and speedies are basically invalid. The community does not particularly like DRs being short-circuited, and it also leaves the DR open with no evidence of action. The correct process for you would have been to ask me to look at and action the DR rather than revert me. I have actioned the file deletion request through the DR. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 08:03, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

@Billinghurst: Hello! I hear what you say, but it also leaves the DR open with no evidence of action is actually wrong. Krdbot actually closes all DRs whose file has been speedily deleted, see Special:Diff/620094518 for example. Given that this bot exist and given that there is no mentioning of any ”If there is a DR all SDs are invalid" rule on Com:Speedy deletion I can't really feel that I was in the wrong.Jonteemil (talk) 13:15, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

Can you remove Russia from the maps, after the foreign companies withdrew from its market?

I added news sources for each company as well as this comprehensive source: https://som.yale.edu/story/2022/over-300-companies-have-withdrawn-russia-some-remain

The withdrawals are semi-permanent, and not temporary/short-term.

@Futbolero: When a logo changes, you may upload the new version onto a new file page. If someone for some reason wants to use the old logo it is impossible of the new version is uploaded under the same name. The file will be split though so you don't have to do anything with this file.Jonteemil (talk) 13:25, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
@Futbolero: The new logo is now at File:Escudo del Real Cartagena Fútbol Club (2).png however since it is a pretty complex logo I've marked it for deletion. Sigo sin entender las políticas, un logo sí puede existir, el otro no, File:Escudo Cortulua 2022.png este sí puede existir pero el de Real Cartagena no. ¿Me puedes explicar? Futbolero (talk) 02:26, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
@Futbolero: Unless you are given permission from the copyright holder to use a logo, the logo must be below the COM:threshold of originality (TOO) in both the United States AND the country where it was published. Colombia's relevant TOO is COM:TOO Andean Community. It's not always easy to judge a logo based on that text. Some logos are deemed above it (deleted) and some are deemed below it (kept). I'd say File:Escudo del Real Cartagena Fútbol Club (2).png is a bit more complex than File:Escudo Cortulua 2022.png so much so that it pushes it above the TOO, but you are free to disagree and comment the deletion request. Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:MastersHeadshot.png]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Good Humor
This made me chuckle, Sums up Commons to a tee tho!, Thanks for the laugh and jokes aside thank you for all that you do here, Take care, Warm Regards –Davey2010Talk 16:54, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

(I should also add I apologise for commenting there - I had no idea you DR'd it, I just assumed you CSD'd it and MD declined it, I thought the CSD decline was because it was inuse so felt an explanation might've helped and might've made MD delete these in future case, But yeah was completely wrong with everything there so apologies, Happy editing, –Davey2010Talk 16:59, 11 November 2022 (UTC))

Haha, thanks for finding it amusing :).Jonteemil (talk) 00:13, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
Template:Non-admin closure has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this template, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Congratulations, dear license reviewer

If you use the helper gadget, you will find the links next to the search box (vector) or as single tabs (monobook). They are named license+ and license-.

Hi Jonteemil, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review and files from other sources. You can enable the LicenseReview gadget from Preferences.

Important: You should not review your own uploads, nor those of anyone closely related to you!

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.libera.chat. You can also add {{User license reviewer}} to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons! --─ The Aafī (talk) 01:05, 22 July 2023 (UTC)

Files previously kept at DR

Please note that files previously kept at DR, such as File:Spain Beach Soccer Logo.png and File:Spain Futsal Logo.png, are ineligible for speedy deletion. Whenever you see a file description with a bluelinked talk page, you should be careful to always check the talk page to see if there is any history of past DRs. -- King of ♥ 06:31, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

I didn't catch that they already had been in a deletion process. Sorry. Jonteemil (talk) 12:06, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for your assistance with my above file. I presume that since the photograph of an Irish soldier is more than 100 years old it can be added? Otherwise I will delete it which would be a shame. LAS30a (talk) 16:00, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

@LAS30a: Thank Abzeronow for the assistance :). It will not be deleted.Jonteemil (talk) 16:19, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
