Thank you for those language maps: they look real handy! just a note: the map for German-speaking Europe is ignoring considerable native German speaking minorities in South Tyrol, Alsace and Transylvania (Central Romania)! Best - 70.149.112.96 06:25, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Image deletion warning Image:Sétif Algérie.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

[edit] Some remarks

  1. Could you translate for me the following sentence into Swedish: The Wikimedia Atlas of the World is an organized and commented collection of geographical, political and historical maps available in Wikimedia Commons. . I will add this to the page Atlas.
  2. When you add languages to entries in the atlas, could you please use ==== in stead of ==. When a language is neither English or native/official language, I add the text in that language in a separate section starting with ====Other languages====, like in the Atlas of Azerbaijan.
  3. BTW, you might be interested to sign up as a participant in the Commons:WikiProject Atlas.

Electionworld 06:35, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

No problem! Just a question about "other languages", how many per cent of Azerbaijan's population speak English? English would absolutely be listed under other languages I dislike when English is somehow regarded as "superior". (I admit it is very useful to have English as the common language here on commons though) There are many Azerbadjanis speaking Russian as a second language and Azerbadjan since the Soviet era. Azerbadjan is also a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States whose working language is Russian. Aaker 21:46, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
No, I do not consider English as the superiour languages (I am not a native English speaker), but it used as the common language at the atlas. I think the rerasons you give for adding Russian is exactly the reason to add it under Other languages. So at the end, I think we agree. Electionworld 10:50, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Hejsan. Marmelad 11:03, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

--S23678 (talk) 17:49, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

articles are kept in the native language while categories are in English. The native tongue of Strasbourg is Alsatian and French. In that case we will have to have a double-naming, see New Zealand / Aotearoa for example. cordialement Gryffindor (talk) 19:11, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello Aaker!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.

To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.

[[Category:Category Name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:

[[Category:Astronomy diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.

For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.

The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.

Here is a gallery of your images. Please check that each image has a category. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the help desk. Thank you.
