Hello!
Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. 78.48.8.63 09:47, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Image Tagging Image:Bannièrelemans.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Bannièrelemans.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Image Tagging Image:MMarena.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:MMarena.jpg. This image is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org).
Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. ALE! ¿…? 16:36, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT (talk) 06:20, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Do you have a better version of File:Didier Ovono.JPG?[edit]
If you can supply the same exact image as File:Didier Ovono.JPG at a larger resolution (or media at a higher bitrate, etc.), please just upload it over the original, users will get the new higher quality version with no further effort on your part. If on the other hand, the content is only similar, it is best to select a new image name, as there may be uses already where some aspect of the existing media was key to the usage. In the latter case, if you can provide a crosslink reference to the new image in the older one and vice versa, that will be extremely helpful.
Again, thank you very much for your contribution, it is appreciated.Martin H. (talk) 20:09, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Gundam Heavy Arms Custom.jpg. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added has been deleted. If you believe that this file was not a derivative work of a non-free work, you may request undeletion.

Your very first question on Commons was if this Logo is ok or not, and it was told to you that it is not ok and you acepted it. 3 months later you decided to ignor the policy on Commons. Thats very sad. --Martin H. (talk) 20:59, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Do you think I'm going to cry? You can't understand but la fin justifie les moyens my friend, and if you delete it, anybody else will create another and will upload it, but it doesn't matter, you can supprimate it. You know, it's so stupid, not for you, but for all this big... how do you call that? encyclopedy? sharing website?... (excuse me, it makes me laugh!). You delete a poor logo that is allready in comons, like here: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Mans. But you can do what you want. I do not apologize for what I have made. It's just time for deletion that's all and in a few weeks, there will have some others poor guys that will come and upload the same, that's all. I do not try to explain you why you mustn't delete it, I know you have to, but I try to make you realise that Wikimedia is a big machine that you don't have finished to delete on... I'm sad for you. But I respect what you do, and it had to arrive one day for my uploads, just, I hope you will be prudent because there my contributions, my pictures I have taken too... But I think you'll see that, i'm sure you'll arrive to distinguish.
Good luck for your job and bien le bonjour de France. --Trowa Barton (talk) 21:18, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Trowa, I think you dont understand: You claim authorship on the Logo - thats totaly wrong. Also you copied so many images from other websites without the author/photographers permission, thats stealing! Its a very simple rule: Images on Commons must be free because the author wants them to be free. Free means that everyone can reuse them for every purpose including commercial use for no fee, irrevocably. --Martin H. (talk) 21:25, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Martin, you know I understand well and I'm the first one to copyright my own pictures when I upload them on the web (on others sites) because I know well that there are people like me that reuse anyone of these one. You know I understand very well, but when you see pictures that you can't take yourself or that you have not any chance to take one day, you haven't any choice. I know that it's wrong you know and I'll stop to upload for a long time I think, you can be sure (I know that you'll have less work!), but I'm sorry, I don't regret what I have done because It's really very beautifull to see a good article with marvelous pictures. You can think it's stupid, but fot me, it's very important, because it shows the beauty of a city.
I do not disturb you too much longer, that's all for this time, do your job as you have to do it. Good luck once again, and see you again one day on the net, who knows? --Trowa Barton (talk) 21:34, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Copyright violations[edit]
Hello Trowa Barton~commonswiki.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

I think that was all. The upload against our rules and your opinion is realy bad, I hope you think about it. Remember that this is a free file project, you can like it and contribute to it with your own work or you can simply ignor it, but please do not try to damage or fool it. --Martin H. - P.s.: Would you cooperate to clean up your second account User:Le Mans from copyright violation? I dont like to do this, it realy costs time and leads to a number of wrongly deleted images - and a number of wrongly not deleted images maybe. --Martin H. (talk) 22:06, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- I am really an image of perversion for you, the using of "fool" and of "our" is really smiling. But before doing you big list where YOU think you have put everything YOU think there are Copyvio, you have better to SEARCH my friend, because if you are so perfect as you seem to give orders, you must have seen that File:Stromstad.JPG, File:Fred Thomas.JPG or File:Le Mans Le Pré.jpg are MY OWN works. You have just to look at the informations of the pictures and you'll see the informations of my camera, a Kodak Easyshare of 2004. If you don't look at, excuse me, but it's the demonstration of that you haven't search and you have just decided to eliminate everything you have find on my gallery, and excuse me but it's descrimination and a big mistake. I think you must have toreview that if you don't want to have some problems with others contributors of Le Mans on Wikipedia, who, I think, will be very happy to know what you've done without any good sense... So please, prove it for everyone if you are so intelligent. You will see, you'll not find another version of File:Periphlemans3.JPG and File:PeriphLe Mans.JPG. and why? because these are my own works! So,I imagine you know what you have to do...

- I accept your protest for this 5 files and consider not to delete them. The camera is not noted with this files. --Martin H. (talk) 00:03, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
File:Cathédrale le mans tombe.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Trowa Barton. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Trowa Barton~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
