- I found you put missing permission tag on so many images. What is the issue?--Kiran Gopi (Talk to me..) 04:08, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- Where does that particular image have permission to use or clear license? (Same with other images i tagged.) The uploader is supposed to send an email to the OTRS team. One can not just write "own work" in the source column and upload anything. Isn't it? §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 05:49, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- Looks like you tagged no permission on a lot of files which has valid permissions and were uploaded by the copyright holder himself. Please review the file carefully before tagging. I wasted a lot of my time today reverting your edits. If you continue to do the same, your act will be deemed as vandalism. --Sreejith K (talk) 05:56, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oh sorry, in case it is so. But seriously, i am not understanding how these images have valid permission, eg. File:Suneet Varma.jpg. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 06:00, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- (ec) Concur with Sreejith: I saw two examples which you tagged as needing permission while they did look like own work by the uploader. Such tagging is normally applied when the image is published elsewhere by XXX and there is no clear evidence that the Commons uploader is the same person as XXX. We do not want to scare away people who want to donate their images to Commons. Thus please do some research before tagging: click with right mouse button on the image, copy image link, paste into Google search and "search by image". Look at resolution and dates (many websites borrow images from Commons). Note major news websites - they often find and credit the actual author. If you find a copy published earlier than the Commons date, with the same or higher resolution, then this might be a sign that something is wrong. Materialscientist (talk) 06:10, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

- File:Suneet Varma.jpg has sufficient large resolution and also the uploader has claimed copyright. There is no reason why you should distrust the uploader. If you can find a proof that the image was published outside of commons before it was uploaded here, please tag this image as Copyvio. If you cannot find a proof but you doubt the authenticity of the Own work claim, please raise a DR. Do not use No permission unless there is a real permission issue. --Sreejith K (talk) 06:45, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Okay! I get it now. Thanks for the help both of you. I was under impression that whatever is the case, a disclaimer sort of email to OTRS is mandatory even if the user wants to give away the image. Just for the sake of safe side for Wiki Commons. Will do more homework on this. & sorry to waste your time. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 07:20, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- OTRS is only required if the uploader is not the copyright holder. So every image uploaded in Commons does not require OTRS. --Sreejith K (talk) 08:47, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Why Wikinews links?
Hi, why do you link names to non-existing wikinews articles as you did here and on multiple other occasions? Please leave working links alone, thank you. Hekerui (talk) 09:27, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- My mistake. Wanted to link to English Wikipedia. Should have checked. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 10:00, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- You are still making the same mistake as last month, see here. Stop, please. Hekerui (talk) 15:10, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Another thing you may not realize: using the interlanguage links of the form XYZ means not template has to be used, so it's more immediate and there is less serverload for template inclusion. Hekerui (talk) 15:13, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know how that is happening? Is it some kinda bug? I simply changed the category on Subhash Ghai. Similarly over here and here i only added the category Imtiaz Ali. I did not add that "== ==". How and from where is that coming? §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 15:40, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- So do you suggest using XYZ instead? Or what? §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 08:54, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- The filedesc was coming from
'User:Sreejithk2000/Cosmetics.js'
which you enabled in your vector.js file. I have fixed the js file for the error Hekerui was talking about. --Sreejith K (talk) 20:08, 9 August 2012 (UTC)- I saw you struggling on Ghai's image and was just gonna tell that to Hekerui. Thanks for fixing. Can you tell which of the two XYZ or XYZ should be used? Or none? §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 20:13, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Both returns the same result. I do not understand why we should use the first one. The second one makes more sense to me as w and en both means english wikipedia. --Sreejith K (talk) 20:15, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- w:Subhash Ghai, w:en:Subhash Ghai and en:Subhash Ghai gives you the same thing. I personally prefer the last one. --Sreejith K (talk) 20:17, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- It does not make a difference, the :w:en: version is merely the most logical in its construction to me, since you can tell both the goal and language (w=wikipedia, en=english). Thanks for helping out. Hekerui (talk) 14:03, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

- Problem solved. Someone had changed the source you had originally provided. My mistake. Should have checked revision history for vandals. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 15:19, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Congratulations, Dear Reviewer
Hi Animeshkulkarni, thanks for your application to be an image reviewer. The application has been removed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can review all kind of image licenses on Commons. Please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Backlogs include Flickr review, Picasa review, Panoramio review, and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:
- importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
- importScript('User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.
You can also add User reviewer or User trusted to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons! Armbrust (talk) 16:41, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
File names
When uploading files from BH, can you change the names to something that includes the subject of the image? BH rarely does that, but it simplifies things here on Commons. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 05:38, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sure! Will try that from next time. Was just being lazy when i numbered all those images. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 08:13, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Can you change the descriptions on the remaining files and let me know? I'll move them. I've moved some based on the descriptions. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 14:45, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Also, you can use Help:Cat-a-lot to add categories to multiple files etc instead of doing them manually or with Hotcat.—SpacemanSpiff 14:48, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Wow!!! This Cat-a-lot things is great! Thanks a lot. I had just started to use HotCat. But this is just awesome. Btw, is there any way to automatically add the files i review in my watchlist?
About renaming; i have updated description of these files:
- File:Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards 2010 (7).jpg
- File:Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards 2010 (11).jpg
- File:Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards 2010 (9).jpg
- File:Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards 2010 (8).jpg (Not very good description though. I don't know the recipient.)
I also dont know these people from following images. Hence couldn't change description. Will try to dig out now.
For File:Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards 2010 (1).jpg i can't think of any better description. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 15:09, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

- Also, when you create categories, you might want to copy over (with modifications) the cats, defaultsort setting and interwikis from en.wiki. e.g. [1]. If you copy one interwiki link, the bot will add the rest. Also, some cats need modification like Category:People from Mumbai on en.wiki is Category:People of Mumbai here and so on. The defaultsort template will help in the category sorting in parent cats etc. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:57, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- I did that on many. Must have missed on this one. Should i also keep the red link categories? En.Wiki has got numerous categories like Category:15th Lok Sabha members which are not here.
And yeah! These nomenclature changes are confusing. Some styles here are better than that on en.wiki; but not all. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 08:15, 13 August 2012 (UTC)- No, just the ones that have equivalence here. I remove many fron en.wiki and add some that are unique here (e.g. People of India by name is unique here, and I add it sometimes but forget it mostly). cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 11:26, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Bollywood Hungama
So loads and loads of my uploads have been removed from bollywood hungama and I know it must be really irritating and somewhat frustrating for you to tag all of them of missing source links and then posting the same note on my talk page. So I was thinking, I am totally over this wikipedia uploading thing. It was a thing I started when I was bored and now I can't keep up with it. So if you don't mind could you just put the following template Speedy on all the images removed from bollywoodhungama and have been uploaded by me. Hope it will lessen both our worries to some extent.Boseritwik (talk) August 20, 2012 11:13 (UTC)
- Hahaha! Its no problem for me to review these images and tag them. I also don't have to come and paste notice on your talk page. That happens automatically. I understand that your talk page gets full of all notices. But nothing can be done about it.
I can't add speedy tags as all admins won't understand the history behind this. Also even if some speedy tag is added, it will anyways post a notice on your page. You can't escape that.
However, i can ask some admins here to see if any other route is possible. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 12:12, 20 August 2012 (UTC)- I understand how difficult it is when your talk page gets filled with deletion notifications. And its mostly not your mistake. Now, most of the images which were in BollywoodHungama when you uploaded has been removed from their site by the time we are trying to review it. If we cannot find that in Google cache or Internet Archive, we will have to delete them. If we use the QuickDelete gadget and use the links on the left side navigation bar for nominating images for deletion, marking as missing source, etc. you will get the notifications in your talk page. Only way of escaping that is by editing the page manually and putting Speedy tag. --Sreejith K (talk) 12:34, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- Or, we can add them to a category similar to Category:Flickr images not found. Say something like Category:BollywoodHungama images not found and make this a sub-category of Category:Other speedy deletions --Sreejith K (talk) 12:44, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- I like the category idea. That way reviewers can simply add the image in this category and it gets deleted directly. Plus the reason is also clear here from the name itself. That way Admins shouldn't question.
Also it will save Ritwik's talk page from being crowded for no reason. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 13:59, 20 August 2012 (UTC)- Ok, here it is. Category:Bollywood Hungama images not found --Sreejith K (talk) 18:01, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Renaming of Popular Science Monthly images.
Hi. Please note that images of Category:Popular Science Monthly illustrations were purposefully named using all lowercase characters to simplify their being referenced in Linux and Mac. There is detailed information on the category page. — Ineuw 23:00, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Ohkaaay!!!! But why are you telling me this? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:24, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- I was told by Rillke that you requested capitalization of the proper nouns (place names) in the image captions. I will revert them to conform, but leave the capitalized captions as redirects. — Ineuw 04:30, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- I see! Will reply on Rillke's page then. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:41, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- No problem, I corrected it and changed capitalization to conform to PSM naming rules, but also left the captialized redirects. — Ineuw 04:46, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- In case User:Rillke's page is not on your watchlist, I gave there an explanation to your comment. — Ineuw 06:08, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Moved my reply here, since I don't think Rillke is interested in having his page cluttered. When I began contributing to the Commons, I knew nothing of images or their management. I requested the deletion of the first 1,000 images because they were low resolution yellowed images which didn't meet Wikisource requirements for insertion into proofread text. Here on the commons, I was asked to provide a descriptive name, a description, and a category. So, I got organized. — Ineuw 06:47, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- I see! Well.... you are doing a good job. Quite interesting images there. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:01, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you. I noticed you're interested in images from India. There are several articles and images of 19th century India. Would you like me to notify you when I upload them? — Ineuw 07:18, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- I am from India, hence the interest. If you have any specific category then it would be good. But don't bother listing images one by one. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:01, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- No problem, I will send you the category/portal of India link of Wikisource when I sorted them out. Periodically, I stop proofreading, image uploading, and focus on redefining the categories & portals. — Ineuw 08:16, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

File tagging File:1963 ChamonixCampFouCrew wb.jpg
This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:1963 ChamonixCampFouCrew wb.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:1963 ChamonixCampFouCrew wb.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File:Achyut Godbole.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File:Himmanshoo Malhotra.jpg which you uploaded has been tagged with OTRS pending for more than 30 days. Lord Rama's Birth Date Shaloks
This picture was prepared by 'Rashtriya Yodha Smaral Samiti', Yamunanagar,(HRY) India, on the basis of research by Mr. Pushkar Bhatnagar, who analysed and co-related the three shaloks by Saint Valmiki in Ramayana on 'Birth Time' of Lord Rama with the given positions of Planets at that point in time. The picture uploaded here is a photograph from a plaque given to certain people in a function. It does not break any copy rights of any one as the 'Photograph of Lord Rama', 'Celestial Positions Picture' and 'Shaloks from Ramayana' are in public domain. Please let me know if you have any other objections.Sudhirkbhargava (talk) 04:22, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Query
Hello Dharmadhyaksha,Please tell me how to create OTRS account and assign permissions for files from Bollywood Hungama.Thanx---zeeyanketu talk to me 22:28, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! You don't need an OTRS account for uploading images from Bollywood Hungama. You can upload images from that site which meet the criteria: "All photographs used by this site from Bollywood Hungama parties/events with the exception of screenshots, wallpapers or promotional posters are exclusively created by their own photographers. Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify these images, providing the site is attributed and a direct link running to the source on their site is provided." And while uploading, in the permissions field you simply enter the text "". That would solve the assigning permission doubt of yours. Did you get what you wanted? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:28, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hey,thanx for the info,i will try for it,Could you provide a link for example from where i can upload a picture.---zeeyanketu talk to me 06:08, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Go http://www.bollywoodhungama.com and search for a name, example A R Rehman. At the bottom of the search is the section "Events". Click on View all. All such similar images of events can be uploaded. This is just an example. There might be better ways also to find allowable images. Explore it! §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:58, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Resquet deletion comment
Hi!
I'm sorry but I made a mistake, the file that you commented at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Antena-3.svg, was in a deletion resquet few days ago and recreated after that, so it doesn't need a deletion resquet but a speedy deletion.
