Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used in more than one way. Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Herby uczelni

Zgadza. Herby i godła uczelni nie sa regulowane ustawa panstwowa, ani samorzadowa (nimi jest regulowane tylko ustanowienie uczelni), a statutami uczelni. A te nie sa znakami urzedowymi etc. Dodatkowo kazdy niemalze statut zawiera klauzule o wykorzystaniu znakow uczelni. Zazwyczaj potrzebha jest zgoda rektora do kazdorazowego uzycia znaku. Te pliki w ogole nie sa chronione PA, bowiem to tylko przedstawienie danych. Stad licencja winna byc {{PD-text}}/{{PD-trivial}}. Co do tekstu, to oczywiscie NPA, jako ze tekst ze stron rządowych nie jest automatycznie aktem, projektem aktu, znakiem urzędowym etc. To nie USA. Zatem tekst usunac. Tabela z kolei, jesli jest niezbedna w hasle (w co watpie), winna byc wstawiona wikikodem, a nie jako zewnetrzna grafika. Wykres moze zostac (o ile ponownie - jest on niezbedny w hasle). Sa dwa problemy:

1. licencja to nie ta - bowiem nie jest to fotografia. Moznaby zastosowac PD-old, jakbysmy wiedzieli ze autor umarl przed 1940 rokiem, ale niestety zrodlo jest podane w sposob nieweryfikowalny (bez autora, wydawnictwa - nic, a ja w katalogu BN nie znajduje tej ksiazki)

Jakby ładujący zrobił zdjęcie samodzielnie, to może je licencjonować dowolnie (zakładając, że rzeźba jest PD). Ale w tym wypadku nie tylko nie zrobił go samodzielnie, ale po prostu skądś zeskanował, co jest naruszeniem PA autora fotografii. Masur (talk) 12:28, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

W tym wypadku ok. Na stronach Fundacji Noblowskiej, treść jest opatrzona komentarzem: Copyright © The Nobel Foundation 1937 - oznaczającym, że w 1937 roku Fundacja nabyła/posiadła prawa autorskie. Jednak nie jest podany autor zdjęcia, zatem (a traktujemy FN jako wiarygodne źródło) jest to praca anonimowa ustanowiona w 1937, a jako taka podlega ochronie przez 70 lat od daty publikacji (1937). Jest ok. Ale ten user to toruble-user i mamy wobec niego dużo zastrzeżeń z innymi adminami. Masur (talk) 08:19, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Pomoc z przetłumaczeniem

Witam, otrzymałem od jednego z użytkowników Wikimedia Commons następującą informację dotyczącą jednego z plików, który zwektoryzowałem:

I am requesting a minor update. The original from CalTrans was deficient in that it does not show the continuity of the cable. Cables are anchored at the east (right in the image) and wrap all the way around the western counterweight (on the left). A minor, yet important improvement would be to show both the western counterweight and, on its western side, the continuation of the cable, which would be visible between the roadway boxes. The proper location for the cable would be at the left extremity of the main span counterweight, with counterweight position projected from the elevation view, seen in the current image centered on the dashed line at the left of the plan view..

niestety mój angielski jest dość słaby, zaś gogle translator wypluwa niezbyt zrozumiałą (przynajmniej dla mnie) paplaninę słów. Zastanawiam się, czy nie mógłbyś pomóc mi w przetłumaczeniu na język polski, tak abym mógł poprawić stworzoną przezemnie grafikę. Wyszukiwarka na Wiki Media

Witam, mam swoje przemyślenia na temat projektu Wikimedia Commons, którymi chciałbym się z kimś podzielić, ale nie mam z kim. Otóż od dłuższego czasu denerwuje mnie wyszukiwarka na Wikimedia Commons w związku z czym chciałbym się do kogoś zwrócić o pomoc w rozwiązaniu tego problemu bądź w zwróceniu uwagi kogoś, kto ten problem może rozwiązać.

Przechodząc do sedna, załóżmy że jako użytkownik Wikimedia Commons chciałbym znaleźć jakąś grafikę, która zawiera w sowim tytule lub opisie pewną frazę (to w tej chwili jako tako jest zrobione) i teraz interesują mnie tylko grafiki dostępne na określonej licencji, o określonych minimalnych rozmiarach, o określonym formacie pliku (*gif, *png, *jpg, *tiff, *svg, *ogg). Niestety, obecna wyszukiwarka nie udostępnia tych podstawowych narzędzi, nad czym osobiście ubolewam. Mam nadzieję, że może masz jakiś pomysł do kogo można by się zwrócić w tej sprawie, by ten problem mógł być rozwiązany skutecznie, bo wpisanie frazy np. "dodge" wyświetla mi listę iluś tam set grafik o różnych rozdzielczościach, różnych formatach, różnych licencjach od tych najbardziej wolnościowych jak PD po bardziej restrykcyjne jak CC, a czasami ktoś potrzebuje grafiki tylko PD lub WP z występującą wybraną frazą. Żeby chociaż informacja o tym na jakiej licencji jest dostępny dany plik była wyświetlana przy miniaturze, to nie, muszę po kolei wchodzić w każdą z iluś tam set grafik, żeby znaleźć tą na licencji, która mi odpowiada. Takie wyszukiwanie jest nieefektywne i co tu dużo pisać męczące więc mam nadzieję, że rozumiesz moją frustrację i że możesz mi w jakiś sposób pomóc zwrócić uwagę na ten problem kogoś, kto może coś konkretnego z tym zrobić. Edycja cudzej strony usera

Hej! To jest Commons, a tu mamy swoje zasady, które radzę poznać, nim zaczniesz edytować. Jedną z nich jest nieeydtowanie cudzej strony użytkownika. Użytkownik nie ma obowiązku komunikować się w języku, który zna. To jego dobra wola. Widać odder nie ma ochoty kontaktować się po polsku i to jego prawo. Jako że jest kojarzony z Polską, to użytkownicy mogą mu pisać w tym języku, więc zaznaczył, że jest to niewskazane. Jeśli ktoś nie zna angielskiego, a chce zgłosić jakiś problem - czy to z Commons, czy to użytkownikiem - jest Commons:Bar. Druga sprawa jest ważniejsza - nazwanie jak najbardziej poważnej edycji wygłupem, trywializacja tego czynu, traktowanie to jako żart, to tu "harassement" - zasada o braku ataków jest inna niż na Wikipedii, czyli nie tylko przekleństwa i epitety są karane, ale także takie nieuprzejme, wręcz chamskie zachowania. Pomyśl jakbyś się czuł jakbym Twoją obecność na Wikipedii nazwał wygłupem. Proszę więc zaprzestać zarówno edycji cudzych stron użytkownika, jeśli nie łamie zasad, a także o zaprzestanie wyśmiewania suwerennych i poważnych (a taki manifest to poważna i odważna rzecz) decyzji. Commons:File renaming

Włączyłem cię do grupy użytkowników mogących przenosić pliki. Zapoznaj się proszę z ogólnymi zasadami powyżej. Opcja do przenoszenia powinna być na prawo od zakładki "edytuj". Ponieważ masz konto globalne, automatycznie możesz także podmieniać na nową nazwę na wszystkich (!) wiki (to będą normalne edycje z twojego konta). Ja zwykle po podmianie kasuję redirect, ale upewnij się 3x, że napewno nic do niego już nie linkuje. Masur (talk) 09:46, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Category:Księga dżungli

Jest ok. Autor, tłumacz, jak i ilustrator nie żyją od ponad 70 lat, zatem ich dzieła przeszły do domeny publicznej i nie ma znaczenia, że np. rok przed ich śmiercią (czy nawet rok przed przejściem do PD) prawa mógł wykupić ktoś inny. Ale dzięki za czujność. Masur (talk) 20:54, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

• Filmy to inna kwestia, bo ich nie można rozpatrywać, jako dzieł jednej osoby (np. reżysera). W przypadku książki sprawa jest prosta - majątkowe prawa autorskie mogą należeć do wydawnictwa, ale prawa autorskie per se pozostają przy autorze, tłumaczu, ilustratorze, kimkolwiek kto miał wkład twórczy w książkę. I wydawnictwo może czerpać dochody z wydawania dzieła, czy wznowień, czy udostępnianiu swoich praw majątkowych innym wydawnictwom, ale koniec końców, gdy prawa autorskie wygasają, może to robić każdy, choć wciąż wydawnictwo ma te prawa majątkowe i wciąż może z nich korzystać. Blokada

Bardzo dobre zagranie, pozbawić rozmówcę możliwości odpowiedzi. Rozumiem, że to jest ta słynna dyskusja na argumenty? Ja to też nazywam czasem hipokryzją, a czasem strzałęm w stopę. Dyskusję prowadziłem na argumenty. Te argumenty są bardzo jasne. Jeżeli ktoś jest głupi, to należy go nazwać głupcem, a nie udawać, że wszystko jest OK i się uśmiechać, słuchając bzdur i patrząc, jak próbuje wmówić ludziom, że czarne jest białe. Z jednej strony mówisz o dyskusji, z drugiej strony odbierasz mi możliwość odpowiedzi - tym jednym zagraniem bardziej zniechęciłeś mnie do wiki, niż ten idiotyczny i pozbawiony sensu spór, w którym zmuszony byłem nazwać rzeczy po imieniu. Ale na plwiki nie należy dbać o dobro projektu, tylko o to, żeby ludzie byli dla siebie mili. Możesz mi dojebać i tydzień blokady, w sumie mam to gdzieś, bo skoro takie są priorytety, to szkoda czasu na grzebanie w tekstach, które jakiś debil może dowolnie zniszczyć, a wy wszyscy w tym czasie będziecie go klepać po plecach i z dumą na twarzy udawać, że ona was nie ma za debili. Miłych, kulturalnych debili. Debili, którzy pozwalają się traktować jak idiotów, ale nie pozwalają jednemu spośród siebie nazwać zjawiska po imieniu. Jeżeli zdecydujesz się na blokadę stałą dla mnie, domagam się jedynie możliwości pozostawienia wpisu pożegnalnego na swojej stronie użytkownika. Zamiana {{OP}} na {{OTRS-pending}}

Witaj! Chciałbym się dowiedzieć dlaczego dokonałeś tej zmiany. Nie żebym miał jakieś pretensje, po prostu mnie to zaciekawiło ponieważ w dokumentacji {{OTRS pending}} jest napisane, aby nie używać tego szablonu bezpośrednio. --jdx ^Re: 18:58, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

OK, zrobiłem mały „risercz” i wyszło na to, że wystarczy wstawić odpowiedni szablon linkowania ({{tls|OP}}). Natomiast pierwszy błąd popełnił Ankry. --jdx ^Re: 19:39, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

IMO powinien, zarówno w wersji polskiej jak i angielskiej (oraz zapewne innych, chociaż np. Niemcy używają właśnie {{subst:OP}}). Póki co zostawię to tak jak jest ponieważ mam zaplanowane inne zadania, ale w przyszłości trzeba zaktualizować/uzupełnić wersję polską na podstawie angielskiej – wersja angielska jest dosyć „żywa” w stosunku do naszej. --jdx ^Re: 07:54, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

7-hydroxyphenoxazone image

I believe that the name of the file and the image do not agree, unless "oxazone" is supposed to read as oxo-azide or something like that. There are two oxygens and a nitrogen to be added to the phenol group, and I can't see them in the name. Can you double check this? (IANA Real Chemist)

(talk-page stalker here...) The structure at File:7-hydroxyphenoxazone.png/File:7-hydroxyphenoxazone.svg looks correct. The more formal name is 7-hydroxy-1H-​phenoxazin-​1-​one, CAS#1392474-02-0, and:

• (2015). "Corrosion inhibitive behavior of 7-hydroxyphenoxazone on mild steel in 1.0 M HCl". Research on Chemical Intermediates 41 (9): 6057-6071. DOI:10.1007/s11164-014-1722-6.

is an example of a ref using the condensed and slightly differently spelled form of the name (that article is paywalled, but my library has a copy that I checked). In terms of nomenclature, here is how to analyze it. The central ring oxygen is represented by the "ox" of the name. That ring is an oxazine to which is attached two benzene rings (note phenyl not phenol is the key here) to make the three-ring core a phenoxazine. The oxygen double-bonded to the right-hand ring is represented by the "one" of the name because it is a ketone group rather than the normal phenyl structure. The oxygen attached to the left-hand ring is represented by the "hydroxy" of the name. The OH group is substituted onto position 7 of the core. DMacks (talk) 03:17, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Hello! I like your picture, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:DNA_synthesis_EN.png However, a H+ is released in the process of adding a nucleotide, which is not shown here. You can easily check this, in your picture there are five negative charges on the reactant side, and six negative charges on the product side, indicating an imbalance. This is important to understand processes such as semiconductor sequencing, so it would be wonderful if you could update that. Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

• To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
• To perform file name swaps.
• When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. Czesław Marchaj

Cześć Niestety na niektórych grobach na Cmentarzu Powązkowskim Starym jest tylko tabliczka tymczasowa i ona czasem ona ginie. Dlatego na grobach Czesława Marchraja czy Hanny Iłowieckiej-Przeciszewskiej jej nie ma. Nie zmienia to faktu że faktycznie są tam pochowani a informację można uzyskać chocby w kancelarii cmentarza.Lukasz2 (talk) 16:58, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

@Lukasz2: : Wyszukiwarka grobów podaje "Baza danych Cm. Stare Powązki zawiera dane z inwentaryzacji przeprowadzonej w latach 2009-2019". Osoba pochowana w 2015 r. powinna więc być uwzględniona, a wyszukiwanie zwraca jedynie Stanisławę i Michała, tak jak jest na nagrobku. Sprawdziłem też, że wyszukiwarka znajduje osoby zmarłe w tym samym czasie, co Czesław Marchaj, np. https://cmentarze.um.warszawa.pl/pomnik.aspx?pom_id=31569 lub https://cmentarze.um.warszawa.pl/pomnik.aspx?pom_id=52550. Powinna być uwzględniona a nie jest wynika to z faktu, że część ludzi pochowanych w latach 2014-2018 nie jest tam jeszcze dopisana i takich przypadków jest niestety sporo. Choć teoretycznie podczas inwentaryzacji powinny być opisane. Przez co musiałem dzowonić do kancelarii Lukasz2 (talk) 16:25, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
