Wake Atoll English Wake Atoll - Wake Atoll Wake Atoll (previously known as Wake Island) is a coral atoll having a coastline about 12 miles long (19 kilometers) in the North Pacific Ocean, located about two-thirds of the way from Honolulu (2,300 miles or 3,700 kilometers) west to ► Guam and 1,510 miles or 2,430 kilometers) east of the ► Marshall Islands. It is an unincorporated territory of the United States, currently administered by the United States Air Force under an agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior. Wake Atoll consists of three islands: Wake Island (the main island and the largest of the three), Peale Island, and Wilkes Island. The Republic of the Marshall Islands claims Wake Atoll as part of its own national territory.
