De Republiek van Suriname is een republiek aan de noordoostkust van Zuid-Amerika. Het grenst in het oosten aan Frans-Guyana, in het westen aan Guyana (voormalig Brits Guiana), in het zuiden aan Brazilië en in het noorden aan de Atlantische Oceaan. Suriname heeft zowel met Guyana als met Frans-Guyana een grensgeschil. Het land is 163.820 km² groot en heeft een kustlijn van 386 km.

English Suriname - Republic of Suriname

The Republic of Suriname is a country in northern South America. It lies in between ► French Guiana to the east and ► Guyana to the west. The southern border is shared with ► Brazil and the northern border is the Atlantic coast. The most southern parts of the borders with Guyana and French Guiana are disputed (upper Corantijn and Marowijne rivers; the map shows the Guyana and French Guiana versions of the border). The country is the smallest sovereign state in terms of area and population in South America.
